This number from Idaho contacted me over a Craigslist "For Sale" ad I posted in Columbus, OH.
He sent me a text message asking if it was still available for the $500 asking price. He followed up with "I will pay you $650 to ship it to my son in West Africa" and offered either Paypal or Western Union.
He insisted on paying by Paypal in advance. I'm not sure how I stand to lose here, but the guy is obviously trying to recklessly send me his money and that alone is cause for concern.
This website was useful in confirming the guy is up to no good. Thanks for your input everyone.

Sounds like the same person. This time he wanted me to ship a big screen TV to his wife in Africa. I can't believe he is still at this. I noticed the earliest posts on this number were more than a year old. I guess that means people are falling prey to him or why would he still be at it a year later!

Asked me to ship him a laptop
I had advertised online and offered me a price that was actually more than the price of the laptop and shipping combined! I decided not to pursue the offer after reading these posts.

I put an advertisement up on Kijiji - a very clear advertisement - this guy/robot/whatever texted me asking questions that were clearly answered in the ad. He mentioned how he wanted the item for his son, then offered me 1/3rd of the price for shipping (made no sense).
Scammer.

Do not fall for this scam!!!! They are trying to get you to ship a product for x amount of money then you will transfer the extra money to them. They will end up getting product and/or money. They try to cheat people out of their hard earned money, rather than working hard and putting time in at a regular job they work at scamming people who don't deserve it! I suggest reporting them to local and state government (Consumer Affairs).
