Debt Collector
I received the same message about a returned payment from 3 years ago and called the number back this morning. I spoke with 3 different people who refused to give me any information  regarding the supposed loan and the more questions i asked the more they just talked over me telling me they would have a warrant issued for my arrest and I better get an attorney NEVER answering my questions. I did apply for a payday loan but never actually took took it out. They had all of my personal information and a lot of it was from years past that didn't even match up. I was I tears and they were simply abusive and mean. I informed them I was calling my bank immediately. I called my bank and closed my account and had them look up the 3 months surrounding when the supposedly took place and there was NOTHING. Serious scammed DO NOT PAY THEM.

This very rude, aggressive, and hateful man called me today stating I have a payday loan that was unpaid. Told him I didn't. He asked for 2400.000 and then reduced to 1400.00 due to my mothers recent death. Told him no such debt existed, he statedI would be locked up by end of the day. I would serve up to 109 days or post bail for 45,000.00 and have a felony against. He gave me some loan number and started talking to someone named Cindy in the background. I hung up on him. Called back after talking to my attorney, he told  me to have  my attorney bond me out and hung up. My mother just past away and I don't need rap like this. Please do something with these low life's
Hope they fry somewhere.

Debt is civil, not criminal, so you cannot be arrested, even if you did default on a loan.  Please report these jokers to the FTC, FBI and your state's Attorney General.

I received numerous calls from this number at work and on my cell. They are most likely a debt buyer who buys old debt that are most likely paid off already to another debt collection agent. These things do not get updated properly so they assume that you still owe a debt when you do not. In some circumstances there is no debt owed at all. Make sure you know your rights and ask for a validation letter. Make them mail you sufficient proof and get everything on paper for your own record. If they tell you they can't provide it or that you have to pay the debt first before you could verify that you owe anything then they are not legit. They are just trying to find a way to scam you for money saying that this is in regards to a payday loan online. Please be aware this is a scam. Go to your state attorney general's office website and read all about these similar scams that are going on in varies states. File a complaint with the FTC company to help stop this from happening to innocent people.

These people are scams as I found it. I was all upset that I was going to be arrested because of a payday loan in 2009. I never took out a payday loan. I want to found out how to seriously report these people. I called a lawyer that day about this it is all a scam don't give them anything. I was harassed and I don't like it when people call me and tell me I owe 3530 on a loan and going to arrest me at my house tonight with a warrant for my arrest. Go ahead you don't have nothing on me. I want to catch these crooks.......

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

?Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.?Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
?Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
?Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
?Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

These people are ridiculous! I told them if they actually have papers/warrant for me, to serve them or otherwise contact my attorney. They are rude, vulgar, and unconscionable, I have been reporting these numbers left and right. I am SO tired of it. They refuse to say what company they are from. They claim to be representing my bank, and are collecting on a bounced check. So I go to the bank, and they are going what? Total scam.

Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

Washington, D.C.
December 07, 2010  FBI National Press Office
(202) 324-3691

? filed under: Press Release

The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim?s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims? relatives, friends, and employers.

I just recently fell for this and set up payment arrangements for 3 months. I called to postpone my payment and they told me if I didn't pay I'd have cops waiting for me to lock me up and I'd have to pay over 3,500 for check fraud. Seemed crazy for just a payday loan and they couldn't even tell me when I took it out, what the original company was or how much. I just called my bank and ordered a new card. Don't give them any info!!!!

This is your friendly neighborhood Stop Sign Steve! Dont be fooled by these Jokers! They are 100% a scam! As another poster said ask for a subpoena, or even easier, ask for a copy of the original loan you signed. If the company cannot produce one, its not legit. They will give you an excuse as to why they cannot produce one, its a load of lies! Do not sit back and be intimidated, be the agressor! ask for paper work! demand they quit calling until they can prove that the debt is legitimate! They wont be able to! It never existed! If you ever even filled out an online form for a payday load, regardless if you got the loan or not, these scammers can buy your info and try to scare you into paying them. SCAM!

Collection agency that keeps changing their numbers because they are not following the laws of do not call lists. They leave a message stating that there is an an outstanding check and they will pursue all legal action. do not respond... We had a pay day loan...3 years ago!!!.... It was fully paid back...but they still handed it off to these creeps! Ignore... I reported to secret service and state agencies. They are being pursued for extensive serious criminal charges for illegally bullying previous loan applicants into repaying loans that were already repaid, this number is the 9th group of numbers used to bully unsuspecting people. Do not respond.
