Got a call from a live person, asking for the person who had this phone # before me.  I explained it was now a personal cell phone for someone else  and he politely said he'd update their records.  

Compared to all the robo-calls & rude people from other collection agencies who call for this guy, this seemed like a decent/reasonable phone call.
We'll see if they actually do stop calling, or if I have to also send them a cease-desist letter explaining that they're violating Rosenthal Fair debt collection laws by continuing to call the wrong person.

The caller asked for an employee that no longer works for the company and then said I was "snooty" for putting her on the phone and then starts demanding my manager. I can't transfer calls to people who are not here.

I'm experiencing the exact same situation as your wife. I too have a fairly common name. They say I owe Greentree Servicing LLC, but I cannot get them to provide any details about the debt whatsoever. I've been trying to get information from them since November. I get a letter every month saying how much they'll settle the debt for. Greentree has even posted a debt write-off entry on my credit report. I've always paid my bills, but not ones I don't owe!
I plan to file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission and my state's Attorney General. Probably won't make a difference, but at least there will be a record of one person making a complaint against them.

Synergetic Communications, Inc. - Calls and leaves a voice mail for my wife saying she has an unpaid claim from Greentree Servicing LLC. She has never had any dealings with Greentree and never had an outstanding debt in her 53 years of existence. Synergetic sends a letter that says if she will write them and dispute the debt that they will send details of the nature of the claim. They lied! After writing to tell them that she was not the person they were seeking the jerks write a condescending letter back that contains no details of the purported claim, only an offer to let her settle the claim and Greentree would inform all the collection agency's that the account had been settled in full. The jerks had the gall to include the phrase "Put your tax refund to good use". The letter was signed Nancy Napoli - Senior Vice President.

I hope some judge gets to fine these scum in a very financially significant way real soon. Their shotgun collection tactics of threatening anyone who may have the same name as someone they are looking for goes far beyond a simple mistake. They are using fear to get money from people whether they legitimately owe a debt or not. If that was not their intent they would have provided my wife with details of the debt claim instead of continuing with their threat of ruining her credit record. ARRRG! It's good to vent some times.

These funnypeople have been calling me on my home phone, but looking for someone with my first name but a last name I've ever had.  Apparently, they can't figure out that if anyone with that name lived here, he'd have been somewhere else than this apartment we've lived in going on 16 years.

keep getting calls from  a Jay Cunningham regarding something about my ex his extentension is 127.  wish I knew how to make them understand.

They keep calling here after I have told them they have the wrong number. A female called today and asked for the person they are looking for and I told her she had the wrong number and she was like is this blah blah and I was like yes it is but you have the wrong number. She kept on about well this is the number she place on a application as if she was a place of employment that is hiring. If I tell you the first time you have the wrong number why keep asking questions lol

A collection agency, Synergetic, also uses #1800-565-4617.  I had paid on a car loan for five years and was paying off a balloon payment when I was laid off from my job.  They were not willing to work with me,to get the balloon payment resolved. They required several documents on household bills, etc.and were not willing to work with me. After chatting with Synergetic, they wanted payment in full within a week. Were not willing to take even two payments.  I regret answering the phone. Get everything in writing prior to agreeing to any of their terms.

Well like i told the last 2 Im broke after this damn economy and many many shut downs weeks at a time at work. Chrysler wouldnt allow me to make a late payment,so I told them I will turn the vehicle in they can have it. I only had 10 months left on it. Then they sold it for 10k to what i paid and the auction amount more then pays it off with out them out any money. Besides they got big bailout monies who is helping the rest of us who have worked hard for all our lives, anyways go ahead and sue me already so I can show you i have no money for you.

Why do these people keep calling when nobody answers the phone, Don't they have anything else to do.

Type of company that thinks people are just stupid. The "representative" leaves me a message on the voicemail at work (illegal) telling me to call him on his extension...that he has a Fedex Package to send to my attention.
Whoever has MY NUMBER at work would have my address....how dumb does he think people are?

I called the guy back and said quit calling here.  There is no one by that name here.  He asked for the phone number again and tried to get my name.  I told him I didn't have to give my name and to quit calling me.

The number belongs to Synergetic Communication Inc., aka SynCom, a consumer credit collection agency registered with the department of commerce in Houston Texas. They've been calling my parent's house.
