A major scam. They are trying to solicit donations for the local police.  Yeah right.  When I asked for a web address to check their charity out I got the run around.  He said he would send me a pledge via the mail and if I would donate at least $10 it would help cover the cost of mailing the pledge (did postage go up agin?) Again I asked for a web address and he gave up and hung up on me.

We get these about twice a week.  We never answer, as we let all calls on the land line go to the answer machine first.  If this is a scam, why are they allowed to keep at it?  Apparently, our do not call list misses them, and they are a nuscience.

they called and asked for the head of the house, but hung up when I closed the door to go out of the noisy room.  I wonder why they were calling.

I am tired of so-called police soliciting for money - actually begging for money.  The cops have all the 'toys' they need including motorcycles, jet-skis-boats- and every other type of recreational equipment and are  armed for military warfare. (basically running around tazing old men and women)
I think it is time someone trimmed their feathers a little and made them settle down on their self-importance.
Both times I have ever called them for help they were afraid to enter the house & I had to go out and take them by the hand and lead them in.  They are a joke and bullys and cowards for the most part and I won't give them a dime.  So unless you love being shaken down by the cops don't answer the phone to 208-478-1223.

They are a group trying to raise funds. but usually a majority of funds raised goes to solicators and not the organization.

I just got a call from them. He said he was part of the fraternal order of police, which I have never heard of before. He asked for my father. I said that he wasn't available and that I could take a message. The man on the other line said "No thank you. I can just call back later." I said that I could also give him my father's cell number or work number so he could get a hold of him. And he just hung up. I'm convinced that he wasn't who he said he was.

Non-profit Organization
I have been harassed by this organization before and sadly it's happening again. The company the IFOP hires to make their soliciting phone calls is such a poor choice that if the IFOP is a reputable organization, the damage done to their name will never be worth it.

A few years ago after repeatedly telling them "no thanks" they called on Mother's Day Sunday just to really piss me off. The next day I went to their website and sent an email to the Director or Assistant Director and expressed my feelings for their soliciting activities. To his credit he did respond back and was all apologies while assuring me I would be placed on a 'Do Not Call' list. I guess the list he spoke of is only good for a few years since the calls have returned. Now after 3 'not interested' responses this time around they called again, just to be make sure I was sure I suppose. You can research information for yourself but I seem to recall that a unbelievably small amount of every dollar collected actually goes to the IFOP. I won't quote anything specific here since I am uncertain but it was well under half of every dollar. In my opinion, a blatant scam, but one that is fully sanctioned by the IFOP.

The web address I found is idahofop.com. There are links to a 'no call' list, it takes you to the Federal list that can be accessed online. Also on the website, clicking on 'Fundraising' will tell you that they use Corporation For Character to solicit donations. I believe you can file complains with the Sec. of State, I recall doing that a few years back.

They are an organization of members, kind of like the Elks, Masons or Odd Fellows. They have no members from my town, so I will not donate to them. They make you think you are donating to all Police Officers when in fact it is only their members. I would ask your local Police to see if any of them are members, before I would donate to them.

I just got a call from this number.
I did not answer and it went to my voicemail and no one left a message.

In my mind if your legit you should have no problem leaving a message and asking for a call back.

Legit or not it must be run by shady businessmen and I will choose not to support them.
I can always go to my local law enforcement and ask them how to donate if I choose to do so.

They call every day requesting donations.  I have told them I do not do business over the phone, but they are relentless.  They claim to be Idaho Fraternal Order of Police, but are they????

This phone number is calling to do fund raising for the Idaho Fraternal Order of Police. I have called the number.  It directs you to a customer service department that can answer questions, help you donate, or anything else related to the FOP. Also, there?s information on www.idahofop.com. Plus, you can contact them there with any questions or requests.
The FOP is doing a lot of really great things for Idaho police officers and the people that call are trying to help them raise money so they can do even more good.

I live in Meridian, co-worker lives in Kuna.  Both of us received home phone calls from this number, within a few days of each other.  Seems to be random numbers they're calling.  Nobody on the other end, except to hear faint background noise, as if in an office. Extremely annoying to get these calls.

called me this afternoon, told them no-thanks twice and they continued their pathetic attempt at collecting money for who knows what. A shame they use the name of our proud law enforcement to scam people out of money.

I just received a call from 208-478-1223, I said "hello" and nothing, I sat their for about 30sec. listening to someone breathing on the other end of the line, If indeed these people are trying to raise money why are they not saying anything?  Just something to think about.

Called me too.  They say they are the Idaho Fraternal Order of Police.  Which is an organization of men and women working in Law Enforcement.  The question is, are they really who they say they are.  I'm inclined to think that they aren't.
