Since the Caller ID said "CA Police Youth" and it showed a regular (not toll-free) number, I assumed it must just be a wrong number. Still, I always look up phone numbers on this site that call and leave no message. The area code is long distance for me, from the Stockton/Modesto area.
I see it must be a scam, claiming to collect donations for the police to help youth.
So far just one call at 3:49 p.m. yesterday. Also been getting repeat calls from some Unknown Caller (no number shown) 3-4 times a day, around the same time each time, for about 3 weeks now. Could be the same people, hoping to trick me into answering. I never answer calls I don't recognize. Call all they want, they are wasting their time.

Got a call from this number today at 2:28 pm. The caller ID says "CA police youth". No message left.

I checked with my local Police Department and they do no solicit contributions over the phone so, believe it or not, this is a SCAM! (Understatement?)

I just posted that I got a call from this number and heard a recording "please hold while we connect you" etc. Curiosity got the better of me and I called the number. I got a recording "thank you for calling back. If you do not wish to hear about our promotions, please press 1 now and you will be placed on our 'do not call list'. Sneaky, preying on peoples' curiosity...

I got a call from this number. The caller ID just said "CA". When I said hello, I heard a recording say "please hold while we try to connect you." About 10-15 seconds later, a recording said "goodbye" and the call was disconnected.
