These creeps are relentless!  So now, I take the call, wait until someone comes on the line and ask them to hold on.  Put the phone down and leave them there.......  I've gotten rid of a couple with this method.  Ties up their lines and they don't like that!

I just got a call which I will add or have already added to my block list.  I will now get no ring but I will be able to get list of blocked calls on my phone.
I have the Panasonic cordless telephone  Model kx-tg6842b (2 handsets)
You can block 250 numbers plus kill the one ring that existed on earlier models that only allowed 30 blocked numbers.  The one handset model sells for $70 at Amazon.

I also got recently the Pro Call Blocker version 2.2 which allows blocking 10 area codes plus 1500 phone numbers.

That sure doesn't work in my reality... but I wish that it did.

Another call from "Diane" asking if we want to get our carpets cleaned.  Somebody's got to bust these guys.  I got the call at 3:14 PM PST.  Caller ID said Fresno.  Wonder if I'll get some more scam calls today?

We never answer unknown numbers calling.

And another hangup call 12-6-13 at 11:53 am.

Called earlier today. I called back and removed my name - not that I expect it to work.  Also, filed a complaint at donotcall.gov, again, not that I expect it to work.  

These turds just discovered me.  I hung up on them by the second ring and had them blocked 30 seconds later.  Still lots of room on my Panny phone for these asshats.

I wonder who is this person that everyone seems to think should be the one to handle their problems,  named "Someone".  Perhaps if we feel that strongly about it,  we should take the bull by the horns and get the ball rolling ourselves.

There are  different ones available by googling  on the internet.  Most are very good.  They vary in price and capability.  You just have to read and decide which one is most suitable and affordable for your needs.  Read and Compare.   Prices are from about  $100.00  and below.  I have one (won't mention brand)  and it works really well and even blocks the first ring so that you hear nothing.   Happy hunting.

I'm glad you lived to tell the tale. I'm not sure that leaving you house was a wise move.

Do the names George Zimmerman and Trayvon Martin sound famliar?  You could not have known
whether the carpet man was armed and prepared to "Stand His Ground" in defense of his truck.

So, how large a financial investment is required to provide a decent technological defense
against the DNC violators that the  law does not deter?  IOW, what is the price of the
high capacity phone blocker that you recommend?

Did you file a formal complaint, including your video evidence, with your local police department?

Wherever the DNC violating phone call may have originated [even overseas], the {English language challeged) individual who actually came to your home was clearly within the jurisdiction of your local police department and subject to prosecution for his role in a conspiracy to violate the law.

Yes, there need to be "consequences" for violating the Do Not Call law.

However, let's have a sense of "proportion" here.  Free room and board for
life at the expense of the taxpayers?  I don't think so. Neither will the
prosecutors, who will "deal" them down to much, much less, if they even
make any attempt to prosecute.

If "the law" can actually touch these violators, hit 'em where it hurts, in the
pocketbook. For repeat violations, hit 'em hard enough that they won't just
write it off as a cost of doing business.  Lock down their "boiler room" and
sieze their robocall machines and other hardware.

Exception:  If, in the rare case, the DNC violation has contributed to the
arguably avoidable death of a person....such as tying up the phone ine
when it was needed to make a real emergency, 9-1-1 call ... then
prosecute it under the "felony murder" law.  Cases like that will be quite
rare, but will generate sufficient news coverage that potential DNC violators
will have to "think twice" about whether they really want to face that riski.

Good for you to make them spend time and money coming out for a fake house call! I did that with a construction co. that kept calling me.
These turds know that the do not call registry is about as effective as TSA. And almost as annoying and illegal/unconstitutional.

Funny but I don't know anyone who is not on their calling list.

Got a call from 804-554-6347 at 10:39 am. Caller ID says "Richmond, VA" The message was says "This is Rachel with an important message about your credit card accounts, this is your last chance to lower your interest rates. We will not call you again" Which is BS because this is about the 25th time I've gotten this same message from several different scam phone numbers.  
Then got a call from 209-220-2357 at 2:27pm. Caller ID says "Fresno, CA" and the message was "This is Diane with a special offer to clean the carpets in several rooms of your house for one low price. If you would not like to take advantage of this offer, press 9 and we will put you on our DO NOT CALL list. This is BS because I've gotten many calls with this message before and every time I've pressed the 9 option.
Then got a call from 347-200-2678 at both 5:08pm and again at 5:30pm. Caller ID says "Brooklyn, NY"  The messages says "Due to new health care regulations, you have been selected to receive a free medical alert... Press one to talk to a rep or 9 to opt out" This is BS because after I pressed 9 and heard the message "Your number has been removed" I got the call again less than 30 minutes later.
As others have mentioned, I think these are all connected to the same big scam. Blocking the number doesn't work because they'll just use a different number the next time and call you back. If you call the numbers back, you typically get something like "Sorry, this is not a working number." I tried the 347 number and the message actually said "This is a telemarketer calling numbers that are on a DO NOT CALL list. If you leave your name and number, we'll call you." It would seem they KNOW we are no a DO NOT CALL list and that's WHY they're harassing us.

Got a call at 2 PM  PST  11-18-2013.   It was "Dianne" wanting to know if we wanted our carpets cleaned.   Robo call.

Received call from 1-209-220-2357 at 1130 am, Saturday 16 November 2013.  Caller ID displayed the number but no other identifying information.  Did not recognize the number and did not pick up the receiver.  Caller hung up after three rings and left no message on the answering machine.

These folks run a number of scams.  The numbers that show up in caller ID are usually faked, and the scammers change numbers so often, that it is impossible to block them.  So far, the pattern of calls that we get, indicate that the credit card scam, the carpet cleaning and duct cleaning scams, car warranty scam, and senior alert or security system scam are ALL being run by the same rings of criminals.  These folks have been running the scams for MANY years.  We never answer unknown numbers calling through, and block the repeat callers, but still the calls keep happening  

It is a form of harassment, so you think this is something that should go ignored given all the people they are doing this to. I think police SHOULD get involved as a deterrent.

Please do so, they keep calling me on an island where I KNOW they don't operate... and would LOVE to see this happen.
