got a call June 6 from this number  did not answer as I did not reconize area code

Just got this call too. I'm in Toronto right now but I was in Sacramento not long ago. I'm thinking it was someone from there as it's the area code.

Got a call from this number 530pm march 31st....didn't answer because i didnt recognize the area code....

just got that call on my cell, didn't answer. I'm in Vancouver, BC

That number called me also, of course I wasn't going to answer it since I live in Canada and it would cost money. I thought maybe if I looked on here it may say something about the number, good thing I did and I didn't answer that call. :)

yeah, i got a call, too.  didn't answer it.
i won't answer unknown callers.
if it's important enough, they will call back.
in the meantime, do a reverse lookup.
then, lo and behold, i come to 800 notes, and then it just confirms my suspicions.

I get this number on both landline and cellular.  It seems to be hitting Canadians.  DO NOT ANSWER IT AND NOTIFY YOUR PHONE SERVICE TO HAVE THEM AWARE AND/OR TO TRACE AND STOP.  The goal on their part is to get you to phone them back and then you get charged the long distance or to gain access to your information, even through your phone answering system, since they use key numbers that are basic tasks for your answering system.  Just listen to it (if it is recorded) then delete it immediately.  If you are present and they call, ignore it or let it ring until they hang up.  Good luck.

I too am in Canada and saw this number on my call display when I came home this morning.  Googled it and found this website.  Glad I did.  Now I know not to pick up if I see it again.

received a call from 1-209-683-4507.  Automatic operator said "you've been selected for promotional item.  Press 1 to receive your promotional item" just hung up.  What can I do to stop them?

I recieved a call on my cell from this number around 1:30pm. I live in Vancouver. I did not pick up, instead I Googled and found this webiste. This is the second day in a row that I have recieved calls like this one.

I just got that number too! but it rang twice and then they just hung up... it was weird!

I say we launch a class action suit against the owner(s)of all these phone numbers the telcos won't anything about, and sue them too for allowing teleSpam!

That's cause it's a recording.  Anytime it says "press 1", it means it wants to connect you to a live agent.

If you are on a land-line, do so, and start hitting on the agent.

got that call twice in 2 days now...called back and immediately you get music playing. I just hung up.  First # showed up as 1-408-582-7186 and second # showed up as 1-209-683-4507.  I googled the # and this is where I came...good thing I got to read all these other posts !!!  I now know what to expect THANK YOU !!!

I've been getting calls from this number for the past couple weeks now. I don't answer because I know it's a telemarketer. If they call again, I'll answer and do what Evika says to get my number removed from their list.

Just say "I don't want you to call me again" and then will delete your number from there system....

Got a call from them too. Don't know how they got my cell # since I've only had it for 2 weeks. I didn't answer because I don't recognize the number. Must be a scam.

I received the call here in Vancouver at 5:45 p.m. to my Shaw land line.  Don't know what's going on because I also received a similar call from another number (308.996.9989) at 4:00 p.m. today.

If you call 209.683.4507 you will be put on hold immediately while music is playing and someone does answer and speak to you and they will tell you how they got your number and you can tell them then that if they called again you would notify the police and then they would cut you off, you would hear a recording stating, 'your number has been added to our do not contact list' and the phone line disconnects.

Alternatively, there are universal codes anyone can use on their phones (some phone companies charge for it and some don't) codes such as -

If it's a recording, or someone saying press one for something, it's most likely a phone scam that's been happening.  Pressing one will be like saying yes, and it you accept charges for the call, even after you hang up.  So, like everyone's been doing, if you get that number showing on your phone, just ignore it, block it or something, report it to your phone company.  If they get enough complaints, something will be done about it.
