Clearly a scam - tried to tell me it was Windows service but I have a MAC so knew it was a scam (really - Windows service!)...   Don't take these people seriously - they are trying to get you to download a virus or steal data...

yeah I just got the same call; my caller ID said Angel's Camp CA as well.  I thought I'd play along for a while and waste the guy's time but it disconnected midway thru his spiel.  I have a linux machine anyway.

Got a call from an Indian sounding woman who tried to scare the living crap out of me.  they called on my home phone. claimed to be from Microsoft and they had gotten a report to their central server that I had a virus on my computer.  I played stupid and confused and  drew out the call to get information from her.  once I had the phone number I checked here.   once she confirmed my computer was on, she told me to find the Ctrl and windows keys.  I played stupid and she directed me to the left lower keyboard and she reassured me that she was going to help.  I told her I had Norton virus maker and that was supposed to kill viruses so I was confused how I got a virus.  I asked how much this was going to cost me and she said "oh nothing.....it's a service from Microsoft."  Jesus!  I wonder how many people they have screwed over like this.
once I got as much information as I could from her,  I asked her why she was calling about Windows if I have one of those Mac computer thingies.

Same MO as those below but this operator was a bit dumber that some of those described below.  I asked who she got my number from and she said the resource department.  I then told her that it was the resource department that tried to infect my computer last week and asked why she wanted to help me with something that her company caused,,, the phone went silent and then she asked what number tried to infect my computer - - - duh!   She offered to hang up and I suggested that was to her advantage.

Your selections below don't allow identification of this call as a scam or malicious intrusion but that is what it is.

"Jacob" from "Windows Technical Dept" just called me with the same scam. Gave me a callback number of 209-753-4599. I told him I needed to call him back. Googled the number and found this. Called them back and said "this feels like a scam, you're not getting a dime from me" and they hung up on me.

Need to share my experience to warn the public. Just received the same call from 209-753-4588 telling me that my computer is receiving viruses from internet and is destroying my computer software, they are very persistent and has to transfer me from one alleged technicial to another until we arrived at www.teamviewer.co and they ask me to log on to - join remote control session, that I told them I will have to consult somebody first. I ask them for their call back number and they gave me 209-753-4599.
And yes the accent is somewhat like from india. they are very tricky and talk like there is really an emergency!!! it's good I googled their number

My mom lives in Southern California; a guy calling himself Sam Watson from Microsoft called & told her she was being attacked by online hackers and they had to act fast to stop them. He gave callback (209) 753-4599, but he was calling from (209) 753-4588. She gave her computer ID and IP numbers and watched as he went into her computer and all kinds of programs. He kept her on the phone for 45 minutes; at the end he quoted prices from 99 to 275 to "renew" the "expired" warranty. She gave her credit card #. He said to wait 45 minutes & call back. The moment she hung up she realized she'd been duped; she disconnected her modem, contacted her bank, is changing all passwords and has to buy a new computer because lord only knows how far he got. 2 hours later she called the number that had showed up on her phone and it's "not in service". AmEx confirmed the $99 claim was made, by some company called Syngis Technology or something like that; the co. hasn't actually charged the money. Reported to the FTC but what a waste of time and she is very stressed out. Lesson learned the hard way.

Received a called  2/28/14 at 7 pm from a man with a heavy accent (maybe from India).  He said he was from the PC Support and Service and that they had been notified that my computer was downloading viruses.  He asked me if I was close to the computer, that I needed to get in so he could help me.  This sounded like a scam to me and I told him I had to call him back later.  He gave me tel no. 209-753-4599.  I never called back and now I googled it and found out all these info.

I received a phone call today from a gentleman stating he was from "Windows"? well, I was suspect, but played along and went to my computer and followed his instructions. But once we got to the part where he was asking from some code or #'s, I said no, that isn't right. I then asked what name to you have on the error message, he said my father's name. I said he passed away three years ago and that computer hasn't been used in over a year. I stated that he MUST be a SCAM! And that his call is originating from somewhere outside the US. He didn't take to kindly to that. So we went rounds about this and that and told him I had to go and that he wasn't getting any info out of me. I did ask for a call back # and he gave me 209-753-4599, which I called back, twice someone answered (sounds like the same guy, saying only Technical Support) and once I got an answering machine with a generic VM.   DO you due diligence! NEVER give out any information from your computer....
I encourage everyone to report this, and at the very least, summit comments about these horrible, sneaky, snakes, that feed off the innocents.

Technician called from this location stating there was a problem with Windows. She asked for access to the Windows program and then try to fix it using a "backdoor" program. Technician has heavy Indian accent. If you call them back, they will try to help you! What a scam! They state they are in California (probably using VOIP). It is a well-known scam.

Fast-talking, thick-accented scammers with names "Frances Trejo", "Nicole Trejo" and "their tech, 'Mr. Joseph' O'Brien" claiming to be from Microsoft seeking access to your computer to alarm you about malware and sell you "protection".  Claim to be located in Angel's Camp, CA.  No angels.

I just received the same call, from the same number. They had my full name and a supposed computer identification number. I have Avast but was told that this virus goes behind the anti virus software thru the back door. He insisted that my computer was infected and that I was going to lose everything. Quite the scare tactic. I didn't bite.
Is there a place to report fraudulent calls?

Yeah, I just got a call from them as well. They said they were from the Window's Operating System and that infections can get into my computer from facebook, email, etc. I was like, I have Norton, why would you be calling me? Do you know who I am? Of course they don't! Said his name was Alex Smith, and they were located in Angel's Camp, Ca and gave me that number (notice no 800 number) because I said I wanted to look into it further myself, and if I have a problem I'll call back.
Yeah, do not let anyone have access to your computer that just randomly calls on the phone. If there were an infection, you would see it on your Anti-Virus Software, no one would call. Also no 800 number for a big company like Microsoft and located in Angel's Camp, CA, not in a big city. I don't buy that.

Got a call from someone saying that they were with Microsoft and that my computer had  Malware and they wanted access to my computer so they could remove the viruses.  I told them that I needed to verify who they were.  Then they gave me the phone number 209-753-4599 to call them back.  When they called me they blocked their number.  I then called AT&T about this and was informed that it was a scam.  Which I already knew it was.  I was told by AT&T that Microsoft does not make these calls to anyone for any reason.  I was also told that they had received many calls about this.  I pray no one falls for this scam.  Once they get your information they can get all your banking and credit card information.  I hope the public is made aware of this.  The Bottom Line is MICROSOFT DOES NOT CALL YOU ABOUT VIRUSES ON YOUR COMPUTER.

Thank YOU
