I received a call, sounds like a guy from India, saying I called about my computer, and I told him that I did not make any calls about my computer, that I was on the "do not call" list, and to leave me alone, and hung up on him. I knew it had to be some sort of scam operation.

Some idiot that needs to get locked up! I wonder if and how many people gave access to this hacker.. called and said my computer is illegally downloading programs w.o my awareness. Even tho I just reinstalled my software to factory settings. I Asked why he's calling from 209 area code n he hung up after having nothing to say.

Haha I got the same call. Took him 5 seconds before he said hi, and I got skeptical from there. Plus it ain't 1-800# . He said my computer is illegally downloading programs without my awareness and he wanted me to go on computer even tho I told him I'm not by it. He said he'll call back, I asked why he's calling from a 209 area code to which he hung up after having nothing to say. Can't the feds get on his a** already and get rid of him already??? Btw this guy didn't have accent.

I just received this call as well...on my land line. We never use that number for anything. Suspicious for sure! Came up as "unavailable" but I told him my battery was dying and I asked for the number I could call back - then looked it up.

On my caller ID it said "private" and a man with a very heavy (what seemed to be Indian) accent said that he was calling from the Computer Technical Department of Windows Support. He said that they were receiving Windows Computer Notifications of a Windows Online Infection. I didn't think so and didn't want to deal with it, so I said that I would have my husband call back. He said his name was Patrick and the number was 209-759-4941. When I asked how he would know who we were when we called back, he just said that he would know. Very odd indeed.

Same call. They gave me the above number to call back. I did and the gentleman with a very strong acent said my computer was sending error messages to Microsoft. He wanted me to go to my comupter and he would give me instructions. I told him that I would call Microsoft myself and hung up. I called Microsoft and advised them of the call.
