Jack (with a very heavy east Indian accent) claiming to be from Microsoft called saying that I had a refund due to me. He asked that I go into my computer, which I did not. He knew my name, phone # and my email. He said that their Co. was being shut down which was why he had to access my computer first. It sounded too suspicious to me. He gave me their number # to call them back to finish taking of this.
What recourse do we have? Who should we be calling to report this?

I received a call from a heavily accented young man who identified himself as "James". He claimed that he was calling from some windows tech support office and that he could see that my windows OS was in trouble. So I asked him lots of questions, including how I could contact him. He dictated a website address with Microsoft in the name and gave me the telephone number at the top of this thread. The number he was actually calling from was an untraceable 000 000-0000. So I chatted with him, and once he realized that I wasn't going to cooperate with him, he accused me of trying to keep him on the line while I attempted to trace his call. Then he tried to shock me by talking 'dirty' the way a 13 year old would, and that went on for quite a long time. It ended when he figured out that I was largely ignoring him but keeping him busy while I cleaned my desk. I should have hung up, but I felt like killing time.

I just received a call yesterday from a heavily accented guy who called himself "Adam". Same story as above... he told me he was with Microsoft and that there was a problem with Windows on my computer. He said it was urgent as people were currently hacking into our home computer and that if i did not act fast, our computer would be compromised. I refused to do what he said and called him on his attempts to convince me that my computer was being compromised. He then said he would pass me to his supervisor who could better explain things. Then this second person gets on the line, also heavily accented, and attempts to get me to go to the run feature and enter a bunch of commands and get my computer id etc. I refused to do what he was asking and kept questionning him and I could tell he was scrambling for answers... I knew for sure at this point that this was not for real. I asked for his name and number and told him I'd get my husband to call him back in 30 minutes. He did give me this number and said his name was "Jack Williams" but continued to urge me to "act now" and that 30 minutes would be too late. We never called them back and they have not called back yet either. Glad we didn't get taken by these jerks -Hope this helps others not to be taken advantage of either!

A man, named Nigel Davis, with a very heavy accent called said he was from Windows and there was a problem with my computer. He knew my name and told me that my laptop had been sending them serious error messages. I hung up and he called back immediately. I got his number and name and said I would call him back. Then shut off my computer. Really creeped me out that he knew my name and that I had a laptop (but I guess who doesn't)

I work for a technical support company and one of my customers called in saying that he had received a phone call from 209-813-2817. He spoke to a "Jordan". He got confused and thought that it was our company. His computer is now completely down and won't even boot up.
PLEASE do not trust this company or anybody that calls you from this phone number.

I received a call from a person who said they worked for Microsoft and that I had threats on my computer. I was actually on my computer when they told me to turn it on. The number was unavailable on the caller id, but I asked them for their number (209-813-2817). I called them back and asked them what their companies name was and they told me IT Solutions based in San Francisco, CA.

I got a call from this number yesterday, said his name was "Adam' (heavily accented) and that he was from 'Windows' and that there was 'malicious software' on my computer etc etc etc. I got extremely annoyed with him and hung up after taking down his number. Kicked my child off the computer and started running scans.

A scam artist called me this afternoon claiming to be from Microsoft Windows Tech Support. He said his name was "Adam", and wanted to help me fix malware and virus issues on my computer. I've researched this on the Microsoft website. They will never make unsolicited calls for this type of issue. I was lucky not to compromise anything. Please do not fall victim to this fradulent trap. Thank you for your time and have a blessed day.

I have received numerous calls from these people - claiming to be associated with Microsoft. They are no more with Microsoft than I am!! They tried to get me to go onto some weird site where I was supposed to enter information in order to gert some kind of a refund through Western Union - however I have been scammed from one other company a few months back, and absolutely refused to get involved in their little scheme again. I hung up right away. PLEASE people - do not fall for anything that comes out of these people's mouths.

One of my users got a call from a spamming company stating he was having issues with his computer. The user hung up on then a few minutes into the call once he realized it was a scam. I would recommend not talking to these people

Unfortunately I did not read this before they got me. Please beware of this scam now my computer is down
| Jacqueline Brooks 2012-09-11 19:51:34 Unknown |
They call constantly. They say my computer is going to crash in a half hour if I don't do what they say. They say they are from Microsoft and I need to buy a warranty to keep my computer from crashing. They will not stop calling when they are told not to. Many times the same people call and the caller ID comes up blank or unknown caller. They are very rude and are driving us crazy.

Computer scammer i think, wanted me to go to www.help22.com and to a tech support with ammy something or other. then wanted me to run a program which I did not open or run said my computer was full of virus and showed me how to access some kind of error info on my files and said they needed to be removed. I became suspicious and hung up on them. I Hung up on them It sounds like the same scam as i have just read from other people who reported this except the number was different.
