I recently began receiving emails from Lisa Rain and John Anderson, who claim they're from Merrill Lynch & Co. They found my resume on careerbuilder and have a position for me with Merrill Lynch doing something called "icommerce." Funny thing is, if you go to Merrill Lynch's own website (ml.com) and try to search for "icommerce," you get a big zero back. These folks claim that Merrill Lynch is going to pay me a starting monthly wage of $3700, even though they know nothing about me, save what they read on my resume. In his email, John Anderson claims to be Merrill Lynch's training manager, and he'll train me on this icommerce stuff. Reading his email is quite a chuckle. For a guy with an English name not to know English is sad. He writes in a dialect I like to call "Nigerian gibberish." And, oh yes, his phone number is 209-920-6593, and it's always busy.
They say they will direct-deposit my paychecks, and that's where the scam lies. They're going to ask me, at some point, to provide them with my bank and bank account number. Nice try, guys!! Not in this lifetime. Don't be taken, please.
