This is WAMU calling for payment on a credit card I havne't used in years.  This is the third call today on my cell phone.  They called from 800-297-8359 at 11:05am, from 303-209-0040 at 3:22pm and from 210-247-0026 at 8:49pm.

I actually talked to some guy in India tonight and told him this account hadn't been used in at least 18 months and his scripted response was something that had nothing to do with anything I was saying.

Annoying and frustrating!

i got a callmfrom 210-247-0026 the caller id sid San Antonio tex and they guy said he was from wamu, calling about a credit card and he wanted to know what my pin was tomake sure that it was working properly. when i asked hin was was the name on the account he told me my madden name, and he toldme the date its expired. but then i asked what was the card number on the account,and he "why do you need me to clarafie that,if i have all the other info then i should have the number to right?" and then i said " cause i want to make sure this is actually wamu cause the caller Id says San Antonio Tex, and Im an Air Force General and since the base is right there in San Antoinio then you shouldknow dont trust no one". then he hung up. so if you get a call from wamu make sure you ask for the account numbera nd card number before giving them any thing

Someone keeps calling from this and several other numbers claiming they are with Wamu saying we have a credit card with them that is past due and they need to verify my husband's information. They think I will just give them ss#s over the phone. When I challenge them, don't give them any info and question how we can contact them they hang up on me. We have never, ever had a credit card or any accounts with Wamu. This has been going on for about two weeks and the caller ids just say a state no company. I am pretty sure it is a scam for personal info. UGh!!! Always remember to never give out ss#s or other personal info on the phone request it in writing. And if it is a real debt collection attempt they have to say it is!!!!

Got a call from guy telling me that my wife owed payment on a Wamu credit card. Told him no way as we never delt with Washington Mutual. I was not going to give him any info. He wanted me to call an 800 # for verify. I told him I would find WAMU my slef. Called company. No account as we suspected. Beware.

sounds like WAMu is doing a little skip tracing what a dirty company!

i have 8 calls on 1/31 & 2 on 2/1 from 6265340250, 6 calls on 2/1 from 2102470026, and 2 calls today (2/2) before 10 am from 2012679017. i may be a few days late but for someone who has had their card for over 3 years and never missed a payment that is a bit over the top.

This comes up as an San Antonio area code. I have no WAMU and they have been calling since the 31st of Jan. They call and leave no message. I refuse to answer my phone especially when you call me at 8am and the latest 930pm. These people need to stop and find someone else who cares about there phone ringing. I cut my ringer off.

If you are receiving collection calls and want them to stop, I suggest visiting privacyrights.org.  there they have all sorts of suggestions and ways to combat harassing phone calls.

WAMU is hardcore.   I have an account with them also and occasionally don't get my payment mailed in time.   I understand the $39 late fee (a little exorbitant I think), but once it is late I don't see myself paying a $14 check by phone fee on top of that to get it to them any faster, so I mail it.   In the meantime, I'm getting up to 12 calls a day trying to collect.

We had the same problem with this number as well... The number is actually legit... This is an autodialer setup by WAMU for people who opened a paypal account and chose not to renew. To get rid of these annoying calls, we spent 30 minutes going from one WAMU dept to the next until we finally got through.

The best way to resolve this is to call the customer service number on the back of the card and do it that way... If you don't have the card anymore, call the WAMU fraud dept at 800-480-7230 to explain the situation and they should point you in the right direction or you can start by calling the WAMU main customer service line at 800-788-7000 and spend about an hour jumping from one department to the next until you finally get a live person that will point you in the right direction.

This may be the solution; call 800-642-0171 and when you're asked to give a card/account number, tell them you are not a WAMU customer, but you keep getting harassing calls on your cell phone.  They will ask for your phone number and then verify that you are not the person they're trying to collect from.  The woman I spoke to said she would remove my number from their list(s) and the calls stopped immediately.  I haven't received a single call from the many WAMU numbers for 24 hours now.

Even if you make your payments but are over the limit, like I am, they call from this and many many other numbers.  They dont leave messages because they have to speak directly to the person whos name the account is under.

Looked at more of the posts and then my cell phone number and determined that this must be WaMu since I have other calls from additionaly associated numbers. Thank's for this posting service. It helped me to decide that I will cancel my WaMu credit card this month after I pay it off.  I usually pay on time, but occasionally would be a little late.  I remember getting these annoying unidentified calls before and not knowing who it was.  Companies this rude and obsesive do not deserve my business.

I've had 3 calls from this number today. I used to have a WaMu account, but closed it months ago. I don't owe them a thing. and I sure as heck didn't give them my number. so I don't know how they got it, or why they're calling.

I have received numerous calls from this number and others from WaMu. STOP CALLING ME ON SALES CALLS!!!!

We've been getting calls from this number for a few days.  We aren't WAMU customers.  I called the number back and it asked me for my full credit card number, I entered something random and it asked me for a full SSN.  Sounded like a scam.  I told the guy that eventually answered as much, got nowhere.

They won't work with you -- I lost my job awhile back, paid my bills, just one time I couldn't make a payment and asked for a later payment date -- nothing.  Can't stand the company.

i told them to contact my attorney.  that stopped the calls for 3 days.  i know i owe them money, but have tried to steer them in the way to resolve this.  they do not give a hoot.

yup its wamu I am paying them through consumer credit counseling they know that they have gotten the payments through them but they keep on my counselor said may go on for 90 days just punch phone off and on and keep going.

These mothers call me morning noon & night, about 8 times or more a day

I know I owe them money, but COME ON! They call and call and never leave a message. I have called them to try and make an arrangement and have been told and I quote: "you are not late enough to qualify for any kind of hardship" I HAD stock in this company and lost MUCH more than I owe them... they are the worst. RECORD any calls you do take from them... protect yourself!
