I received calls for the past three years from the same thing, saying they were from the BC Business Development Office. I decided to follow through and tell them I was moving. Today I got a letter from a local moving company. I phoned them and found out that they pay for leads from a company called TMI Target Marketing (http://tmileads.com/). So I called them up and asked them to stop calling me. I told the girl on the phone that the people calling keep saying they're from BC Business Development Office and they said they aren't aware of what is said because they contract out the calls.

I had her remove me from their list, so feel free to give them a nice call and do the same... we'll see if it works...

Asked us if you are moving? We then asked for company name & a female person hung up.

I receive calls from a different number (310) 271-6100 the claims to be from the State of California Department of Business Development.  A search for that title led me to your page.

The very next time they call asking me when I am going to relocate I am going to tell them : In 3 Weeks and then I'm going to see just what in the heck they want!!! I've asked for their number several times and they start out by saying 604 -  and then they hang up!  UGH!!!!

March 28 2012  "Mike" from the "California State Business Development Office" called and inquired as to when my company would be moving or expanding.  This is the third time someone from this organization has called and immediately hangs-up when I ask them for their telephone number.

They call me every 3 months or so asking for info about our business location, I presume to sell to marketers. My caller ID always shows the number as 00000000000. She claims to be from the State of California Business Development Office, which she insists is a branch of the California state government. "In L.A." M'kay. Click.

same here...we have been getting these calls for ages, usually they do not identify even where they are calling from or who they are!! today they said it was Mike from the British Columbia business developement office...googled it there is no such thing just this blog complaining for years !!!! i called the bbb and they just gave me a couple other #'s to call.. canadian anti fraud 1-888-495-8501 & consumers somethingorother 1 888 564 9963 UGHH!!!!

caller said they were with the state of Michigan business office.
This person could not speek english and would not mail questions she wanted to ask.

I just received a call as well stating it was the State of California Business Development Office.  I just filed a complaint with the FTC.

The lady named "Alex" said she was from the "British Columbia Business Development Office" asking when we are relocating our office.

This woman calls me ALL the time saying she's from the British Columbia Business Development office. She wants to know if we are planning to move. I tell her NO and to STOP CALLING but she calls every few days.

same thing, she called from "British Columbia Development Office", asked when I was planning to move my office.  When I asked her who she was, she hung up on me. She had a Fillipino accent.

Got a similar call 2009 Aug 11 from "British Columbia Business Development" asking about office re-location. My cell phone reported the caller # as 0000000000. I got suspicious when they started fishing for identity information (fax #, email address, etc) that a legit business would already have found through government.  When I said I was looking for their business on the web, they hung up.  So, I guess, its a phishing scam. Be careful!

Dead air when answered - presume they are looking for a answering machine to leave an unsolicited message

This number calls our office ALL the time. The same woman says that she is from some company (british columbia business something...) and she wants to know if we are still planning to move. I have tried everything to get her to stop calling by saying put me on your do not call list, saying no we are NOT moving please stop calling me. When I say that we are not planning to move she asks over and over again if I'm sure we are not planning to move, THEN she asks to speak to my boss! I get infuriated talking to her!
