I have recently had multiple phone calls made to my personal cell number as well as work and family members from this number. When I in good faith returned calls a woman answers who chastises me for having a bad attitude then calls me a thief and tells me to call sheriff department. I called sheriff department and they are not familiar with incoming number nor reason why I would get these calls. I attempted to call back more then once and the caller who answers must have caller ID, she answers and uses some rough language then hangs up. Very creepy as well as disturbing. How do I make them stop?

Just got a call at our office from this number.......a garbled recording saying something about fraud and "a stay of execution" ?!?!?!?!? What a crock......obviously some sort of scam. The recording left a call-back number of: 866-402-4043 When you search that number there are tons of complaints about it as well.

Answered call from this number and this automated voice said I have commited a Federal Crime and need to call back to a 1-800 number to resolve. I called back and this man from a "law firm" said I had gotten a loan online from a payday loan back in 2010.
I told him I have not gotten a loan online and don't give out my personal information online. He was very rude and was forcefully statin that I got this loan out. I told him I have not, and he gave me my banks name. After telling him I have that bank, he then said, "Thank you and good day" and hung up.

TRUST ME PEOPLE... IT'S A SCAM! The funny thing is that I'm a Federal Agent and the voice recorder said that I had committed a FEDERAL CRIME and that there was some sort of serious legal issue involving the name and social security number. Can you believe this? Too funny. Hang up, if you do answer it's just a recording so do not worry but most definitely DO NOT CALL BACK.

Ask for it in writing. Then ask your local court house if its valid.

I just received my second call from this number. They give a case number and say I am going to be charged with malicious intent to deceive and commit fraud. Is there something I can do
| anonymous 2011-07-20 03:23:20 Unknown |
This is a version of the you-have-committed-a-crime extortion scam and you are being...
1. charged with fraud or passing bad checks or embezzlement or
2. served with a court summons or arrest warrant or bench warrant or whatever or
3. located in preparation to being served or for a lawsuit or to be arrested or
4. sued for cable TV usage that you've been stealing for years or
5. whatever stupid crap reasons they will think up next.
And you have to...
1. call back with your case number or
2. confirm your address or SSN or whatever so you can be served or your papers can be processed or
3. pay $895 now to avoid paying $5,000 in court or
4. whatever stupid crap reasons they will think up next.
Beware extortion scams come in many flavors and they constantly evolve to stay one step ahead of the law.
The FBI warns about payday loan extortion scams here http://www.fbi.gov/news/pressrel/press-releases/paydayloanscam_120710
The BBB has issued several alerts on this scam, just google "bbb.org alert phony debt collector"
Never do what they tell you to do but report them to the Internet Crime Complaint Center http://www.ic3.gov/complaint/default.aspx , the Federal Communications Commission http://esupport.fcc.gov/complaints.htm , the Federal Trade Commission https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/ and your state AG, as appropriate.

Yeah got a call from this number too, saying something about they are investigating fraudulant activity involving my name, drivers license, and personal banking information. This reeks so bad of a scam it isn't even funny. If there was anything suspicious going on my bank would be calling me, not some a-hole who doesn't want to give any real information. Do not call these idiots back.

Answered a call from this number and was greeted by an automated message telling me there was some sort of serious legal issue involving the name and social security number associated with my IP address. The male voiced recording stated I could call their toll free 866 number to solve the issue and to tell them the number that I received the notification from when I returned the call. This absolutely reeks of scam. I strongly suggest no one calls them back with any info other than you're reporting them to the appropriate authorities. I've had Nigerians try to scam me with more tact and finesse.

I just received the same darn automated message. It definetly reeks of a scam. If anyone else receives a call from this number do not answer, nor call back.
