If this is the same "computer repair" call that all these other people are getting, the claim to have gotten your phone number from the ISP is a load of bull.  Everything we have is registered under my husband so in no way should they be calling me.

Prank Call
I got a call from these criminals today.  A man with an Indian accent claimed to be a generic-sounding computer tech support company, and that they got my name and number from the ISP -- not likely under the ISP's privacy policy.  They wanted to fix my computer over the phone.  I had some fun with them for a while because I was driving, but when I got to my destination revealed that I work in tech support and that was the end of the call.

P.S. this site's reporting interface needs a "Call Type" of "Scam/criminal" as one of the options.

I wish someone would do something to stop this scam.  I don't know why people feel they need to take advantage like this.  The woman that I just talked to absolutely wasn't from the USA.  I couldn't hardly understand her.  Eventually she hung up because I kept asking her to say that again since I didn't understand her.  How do they even get our phone numbers?

I got it too.  Same thing.  I also got a call like this from a different number (san antonio).  The guy, kevin, told me all of the same.  I could hear him in a car, then going down echoing stairs.  Finally, I pissed him off so much he hung up on me.

I continue to get these messages, for WEEKs now. I've even yelled at the guy, threatened him, and asked to be taken off his list.  Same call every time - an Indian accent, man, saying his name was Brad this last time. Saying that one of my computers  is infected or "Unresponsive to the last Windows Update". I've retorted with "which computer?" and his reply is "the one that isn't working'".  Since it's the same number every time, I've Blocked them as a caller to my cell phone with my wireless provider.

Bottom line - it is a scam. Don't fall for it.

I got a call from this number today and they told me my computer is taking a long time to boot up and that internet pages are taking a long time to load.  I said ok and asked what I needed to do.  He asked me to turn on my computer so I told him to wait a minute and then told him I turned it on.  I was then asked to locate the Ctrl key on the bottom left of my keyboard.  I pretended to look and then told him I didn't have one.  The then asked me to look for the Windows start icon on my screen.  I then told him I didn't see that either and he then asked me if I had a Mac or a tablet.  I said no, I have a Commodore 64.  That was followed by silence and then a hang-up. lol

I would not do business with this person.

I received a call from this number.  My phone records indicated they have tried calling many times.  I understood from the conversation that they were having a problem updating my MS Windows computer.  I told them I did not have MS Windows computer.  They said they had the wrong number and hung up.

It was an Indian speaking person.

I would classify this type as, "False Service Request"

You've been scammed..  Better check your computer completely. Make sure your antivirus is on, run it. Download maleware bytes and run it. Change all your passwords everyplace and keep a eye on your bank account and CC cards for charges.

They have no way of knowing whats going on with your computer and No legitimate company cold calls like this.  The scam usually entails them taking you to your event viewer which is a internal monitor that logs events on your computer.. Oh sure, you will see the error's logged, but its all a scam to get you to allow them access to your computer. The event viewer is only doing its job and its there for a real tech to look through should you actually have a problem. Then they want remote access! They usually turn your anti virus program off  and give you a big spiel, then inform you they want a small fee to fix it.. several hundred dollars of course! Meanwhile, they have access to all your computer and could be gleaning personal info, downloading stuff to your computer to turn it into a zombie computer to spam folks..

The only persons who should be touching your computer is you, your manufacturer, Real Windows support that you have called and/or maybe a real live tech you see face to face!

I was called this morning and told that my computer was un-responsive and my I P address started blinking on their end and Veronica with a strong Indian accent would fix it for me. She told me she needed remote access. I thought it was strange, but she said she was licensed from Microsoft and would be able to fix my computer. Then she tried to charge me for this service she had just performed.

Yet another call this morning from +2105196126. Hard to believe these interlopers try to pull the wool over our eyes without taking pause to consider the consequences of feeding on the innocent. Thank goodness for the "Block Caller" feature in the i07 update.

Reporting that number now to Magic Jack. This number keeps calling, yet hanging up whenever I answer, and of course no voicemail left when it goes to voicemail.

Don't you just love it when a fool opens their mouth, speaks, and then proves it. Do a web search on the word "shill" chum, might learn something, & you won't even have to take an English class.
