I don't answer, but the number keeps calling. ID says "TEXAS," I don't know anyone in that state. If it was legit Verizon #, it would show up on the ID. And I still wouldn't answer.

6/09 14:38 PDT Called but since no number or ID was shown on phone or blocker, didn't answer.  On checking call log, see call is supposed to be coming from TEXAS and voicemail is just dead air.  Based on other previous complaints here, this is the ongoing scam regarding computer viruses, etc.   Refuse to get drawn into any of these scams.  Simply never answer phone unless caller is clearly identified and expected.  Anything else, if meaningful, can leave a message.

This guy sounded like he was from India saying that he is from NV Energy. Wow he is from Nevada with a caller ID from Texas. I had asked which account number was going to be disconnected he said he didn't know that he had to transfer me. While on hold I called from mu other phone the 210-526-6628 number and it stated that this number is not a valid number.

On June 5 , 2014 , I have received 3 phone calls from Texas numbers , 2 from (210) 526-6628 and 1 from (210)301-0307. All three were from Indian speaking con artists claiming they were from "Windows Dept " saying my computer was infected with a virus. I told them not to call back I'm on the Do Not Call list and the first caller kept asking why not to call me I finally hung up on him. They are scammers and wish to log a complaint.

I just received a call from this number but did not answer. The voicemail left was a girl singing a song (I don't know what song, it was so bad) almost as a serenade. I called the number back to tell her she was calling the wrong person, when I got the prerecorded message and searched online and found this forum. Anyways, it might not be a man questioning your computer, it could also be a girl/guy serenading you. Do not call back. It is a scam!

Wow, 8 pages of complaints and Nomorobo let it through.  Didn't make it past my call blocker though as the number starts with a 2.  I use wildcards :).

Reported to Nomorobo--for what good it does.  I switched to a call blocker and white list because of how porous Nomorobo has become.

I'm not exactly a Verizon fan either---but these scammers are just spoofing their phone number---the call is not originating in Texas and has nothing to do with Verizon. Verizon couldn't stop anyone from spoofing a number even if they wanted to. I've filed complaints with the FCC via their website 3 or 4 times over the years about these types of calls, all I ever get is a canned note back from them. And my number has been on the federal DoNotCall registry since the day it opened for business. It helped, but nothing will stop a spoofed number from calling you.

I just received a call from this number and a man with a very heavy middle eastern accent said that he was calling about my computer and when I said that it was my parents' computer, he started going into very graphic detail about what he "was going to do to me" in a sexual nature. These scumbags need to be caught because my children answer the phone some times and do other children in the country and they don't need to be hearing what I did!!!

Prank Call
210-526-6628 in San Antonia, TX.  A VERIZON land line.  Did you get that VERIZON land line.  There are two scams going on here.  One is that VERIZON yes VERIZON has been notified by hundreds of people yet refuses to cut off this number in accordance with annoyance caller laws.  Why...because ... why would they when they continue to take money for our land lines and from this so called vendor.  In my book...that equates VERIZON with being a PIMP!!!!!

Second scam are people in India, calling through this purported San Antonio number claiming to be Microsoft Windows Service Center claiming that "your computer is pushing out messages containing your private personal and financial data."  Claiming that they can magically "fix" this problem with you on line.  Tell them to pound SAND!  The file a complaint against both the number 210-526-6628 and VERIZON...yes the pimps at VERIZON with the federal government here:

http://www.fcc.gov/complaints

They are calling a do not call number 10-12 times a day starting at 7a.m. and continuing until 10:00 p.m in the evening.  All illegal and all preventable by the PIMPS at VERIZON.  Do the right thing Verizon and disconnect the number or we will get the FEDS involved to order it!!!!!

Just got a call from this number.  Foreign accent female claimed to be from "Windows" (first clue) and that my PC was "highly infected" (second clue) and that they were calling to alert me.  I decided to have a little fun with her, asked a lot of questions (what version of Windows am I running, what's my registration code, etc).  Her goal was to get me to my computer and enter a series of commands from the command prompt, which there was no way I was going to do.  Eventually, I managed to get her pissed off, complaining, and, the coup de grace was when she dropped the "MF" bomb on me!  I had a good belly laugh at her expense.  Fun times.

My father in-law received a call from this number telling him his computer was infected & sending out mass emails. He let them take control of his computer to "fix the problem" He's 84 & doesn't know any better. This was 3 days ago & now he can't even turn the computer on, gets a black screen & it shuts down within a minute. Now he's worried about his passwords that were stored. Maybe just a coincidence that his computer stopped working?? But I don't think Microsoft makes calls about a PC unless you contact them first.

Seems this number has been in business for a long time making these calls.  I just got this call yesterday.  May not have been the first time since I don't usually answer calls if I don't know the number---I just happened to answer this call.  The caller, I'm sure was from India, said I had problem in my computer and to go log in and he would clear up the problem.  Yeah, Right.    I'm a senior but lucky for me I still have most of my mind---it did make me pause for a minute since I had just updated my computer system a few days ago.  I just told him I was too busy right now and he hung up.  Another scam.

The caller from this number with Indian national accent in English said he represented Windows and was calling about my computer.  Windows Support Micro Soft, does not call you out of the blue... you call them, then they call you right back for any support if you need it.  This is a phising scam, to access your computer toward ID theft.  You will continue to receive these calls, and best to put a block on the number, as to no way in hell are they going to comply to the Do Not Call registry your on.

Obviously some kind of scam to extract information.

Of course it is a scam.  I never answer calls like this(I screen all calls).  However, I will call the number afterward, blocking MY number from them).  When I did that, I got the recorded message that the number is no longer in service.  They are just spoofing the number, and based upon people's complaints here, they are "offering" all different sorts of things.  Honestly, I don't know how any agency can put a stop to this without spending a tremendous amount of time on each complaint.  Even if caught, the penalties for these a***oles is way too lenient for them to want to stop.

Great post Al. I'm curious to know HOW you got any response from the FCC? I've filled out the complaint form on their website 3 or 4 times, and all I ever get is a canned email thanking me for filing my complaint and that's all that ever happens. I've had my number in the DoNotCall registry since it first was opened. Maybe I should call them.

I like this appliance you mentioned about blocking selected numbers and area codes; that would be great. Thanks again.

Finally answered after this number (TEXAS on Caller ID) called every day for about a month. Was a scammer--India accent, telling me my computer was infected, we can help, etc.etc. I played with him for about 30 min, then thanked him for staying on the line with me for so long, and I had recorded our conversation. He listened while I explained he had reached an IT professional who knew this was a scamming call, and I just wasted his time. They use spoofed phone numbers, and most likely overseas, not worth trying to catch them. Hang up on anyone who says your computer is infected and they can help. It's always a scam.

The simple minded idiot who called on 5-20-14 at 4:28 P.M. apparently does not have a brain stem. This simpleton apparently does not know how to read. The number he called is on the DO NOT Call list.  All I can say is I hope the fleas of a thousand camels infest his arm pits, eye brows and his private parts.  There will probably be millions of fleas in his private because this person is one giant a***ole..

A man who sounded Indian said he was from Medical Healthcare Center. He wanted to know if I have had any bad drug interactions to report to the drug company.  I told him it was none of his business.  He said they have no website because they are a third party that just passes on information.  I told him that he had called me illegally and not to call me again.
