i received a call from this # but i did not answer it. a message was left from Monte Cristo Pharmacy in Edinburg stating that my medication was ready??weird, why would my pharmacy be calling from a 210 # but we are in a 956 area code??? I do deal with this pharmacy.

Caller said he was calling in behalf of the Texas Trooper's Association. He continued to say "we're calling just to make sure that you don't drink and drive....and that they're taking in pledges..blah, blah, blah. When I asked that he just send me a correspondence through mail as I wanted to make sure that my help or pledge will actually go to the TX Trooper's Association and not to a Scam Artist, he got annoyed and said that I called him a scammer.  I tried to tell him to listen to me first and that I did not call him a scammer and repeated to him that I just wanted to make sure that I was actually talking to someone legitimate.  He just wouldn't listen and so I hung up on him. I think he is a scammer and a scum and he should be locked in prison! However, if he is not, maybe the TX Trooper's Association should kick this stupid guys butt out of their association because this scum does not have the professionality and courtesy and he's just tainting the Trooper's Association reputation.  More power to the TX Trooper's Association!!!  Yeeehawww!

NO law enforcement agency or fire department solicts donations over the phone. NONE, NADA, ZERO!!!  Any time you donate over the phone you are being had and so is your credit card or bank account number.  DON"T DO IT

It was a telemarketer saying he was working for the Texas State Troopers.  Do not donate via phone - call the local office if you'd like to make a donation.  This is what the Texas Attorney General says about this organization:

Consider, for example, the Texas State Troopers Association (TSTA), which hires professional telemarketers to call potential donors for contributions. While the paid solicitor might have a good sales pitch urging potential donors to support the state police, much of the money raised by TSTA doesn?t actually go to officers or their families. According to a recent IRS filing by the TSTA, its telemarketing efforts yielded $3.59 million through telephone solicitations. Of that amount, more than 75% ? or $2.78 million ? was spent on ?professional fundraising fees.? The IRS documents also indicate the organization spent just $10,800 on trooper death benefits; $22,000 on a ?trooper event;? and $72,000 on contract lobbyists.
