I've been getting calls from them too.  It's a scam, they are trying to get you to send money to them.  They happen to get your phone number in various ways (i.e. applying for any type of loan or credit card online).  They leave threatening messages and are constantly calling.  At one point I was told they had a special investigator looking into the case against me since they filed a complaint against me.  When I first spoke to them I asked for a copy of the complaint (I'm a paralegal and certainly know how to find out if a Complaint is legitamately filed with the Court system or not) and they said they couldn't send me one.  You may want to block the number with your cell service company.  I get the calls at work too.....but don't answer those either.  Anyway....my suggestion is ignore them and report it to your phone company that you want to block them for harrassing and threatening messages.

I have received many calls and messages from these guys, always saying it is a financial matter and I am being sued, or that I will be arrested if I don't call them back and settle. When I try to call back I get an answering machine. The one time I answered the phone with these guys, they wouldn't tell me who was suing or what it was about. I told them to send me the info in writing, and don't call me at work any more. They keep calling my work number and leaving messages. :(

In the latest message the guy said his name was Nick Harvey. Yeah, sure you are. (Nick Harvey was a brittish actor).

I have applied for several payday lons online, and I have noticed that these calls come in greater volume after the initial application.

I just received a call from them, a Tony Brown.  Saying I owed $850 and that today was the last day to pay it or they will take me to court.  I don't know what to do, I do owe stuff and Im not sure if this is  one of them.  He said it was from a payday loan from "American Cash",  He was rude as hell and saying that we was going to court tomorrow morning.  I have no idea whats going on.

Called and said that they were an attorneys office and that I needed to speak to the paralegal.  They said that I have an unpaid payday loan which was completely untrue.  I told him he has the wrong person and he starts spouting off information and I said, I don't care because what you're saying is fraudulent.  I told him not to call me at work that he is not allowed and it is harrassment if I did owe such money.  I hung up on him.  He called back and said they would be sending the authorities in 2 hours and they were going to notify my boss.  He said if you don't care you have nothing to worry about then and hung up on me.  During the conversation, I did say send me the legal documentation and my bank account information would prove that I never received any money from the place they were claiming to be.

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

?is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
?refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
?asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
?exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:

?Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.?Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
?Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft ? charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
?Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate ? but you think the collector may not be ? contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
?Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.

This number keeps calling and harassing me too. I applied for a payday loan online with some company... something pea.com... Anyway, since then, every scammer on earth has been calling me and telling me there is a lawsuit against me and that the authorities are coming to get me AT WORK. I don't know who gets away with this. Obviously if I applied for a payday loan, I don't have money to give some scam. These guys are rude and you should all file a complaint with the FTC about them too. I called the number back repeatedly and they keep hanging up on me.

I got a phone call from this number saying that I had a lawsuit against me, they called my phone over and over again until I picked up that phone call. When I told him to stop bleeping calling me he told me that I was going to be 'picked up' and prosecuted.

I called back and another man told me the company filing the lawsuit was called us financial lending. I have never even heard of this company nor can I find them anywhere online. I hung up almost immediately after saying I was going to call my lawyer, and now the guy won't talk to me. It's for sure some kind of scare tactic scam, and they have Indian accents just like all of the other telemarketers. Hope this helps.
