Yup! Depending on what your talking about for a phone!  landlines:  Consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $60.00 or so.

For cell phones, some have call blocking features now, and for others you can do a google search and see if you can find a application for them.

I keep getting calls from people say they are calling from Microsoft, after telling them not to call again and remove me from their list, they just keep calling back. I get calls 2-3 times a day. They even swear at me when I get rude with them and tell me that will definitely be calling me again. This is harassment.
They call from all different area codes and phone numbers.
Is there anyway to get rid of these people from calling?

I received a call from someone with almost unintelligible accent this morning (1/21/2014) saying the same thing described on several sites giving a return phone number of: 210-888-9112--and when I Googled it found many postings regarding a scam. I thought it was so decided to report it.
He wanted to take control of my computer and I hung up.

I received a call from a person obviously out of India, who said his name was Steve Edward Jones.  He told me he was calling from Microsoft Tech Support and had received notices that I had many errors and was downloading viruses and it was urgent that I let them fix my computer.  They wanted remote access and I got suspicious, and took his number and hung up.  I looked it up and see they are obviously scammers.

I too had received such fraudulent calls on my mobile twice, first time from mobile number +919250209261 on 16.11.2012 at around 11.32am  and second time from mobile number +918006079506 on 21-11-2012 at 11.36an from from a lady Ms. Ragini Singh introducing herself Police Sub-Inspector from Delhi Police who knew my name and other details and said that she has an arrest warrant in my name for the complaint lodged against me under section 138 of negotiable instruments act for a bounced cheque. On reviewing the matter I was sure that the lady who had called up is falsely posing herself as Police Sub-Inspector and seems to be a fraudulent person since she wanted me to settle the matter financially to stop the warrant being served. Earlier too on 24-07-2012 I had received similar call from the same mobile number from a person introducing himself as Sh. Naresh  Yadav Police Inspector from Delhi Police regarding warrant under section 138 who too wanted me to settle the matter financially for not serving the warrant. Thus I am now confident that this is a gang of fraudsters who are into money making business by threatening the mobile users. I have registered a complaint with local police as also informed Commissioner of Police, Delhi about this matter and is awaiting their action.

It is Nov.4 and I am in Calgary, Alberta. My wife got home from work today and said she got a call at her employer's home from the same guy that called me. He said he was from Microsoft yadayada. These guys are still at it. They must be making a fortune. If they get a small fraction of the people they phone all over N America they make a killing. I have had several calls from "peter" threatening me to pay him "or else". Can't anyone stop them?

Hi. My Mom got the same call and got the number from them but told them that her son (me) would have to deal with them as I handle all her computer service. I explained to Mom that Microsoft never calls you. Your ISP may contact you if they notice a lot of spam emails being sent from your ip address. I told Mom  next time that they call to hang up.
Bye.

I received a call from Angel Smith.  She tried to scare me that my computer was infected and she did indicate that she was from Microsoft in Texus.  I could hear the call centre with other agents trying to scam other victims.  She led me to a website called http://www.ammyy.com/en/  .  I think she thought i was going to give her access to my PC or my credit card.  The call back number was 210-888-0671.   Angel turned out to be a witch in disguise.   She caused me to miss the rinse on my laundry.

Hi..just got the call - again - man with an East Indian accent telling me he was from Microsoft and that my computer has been alerted as having a virus and he called to help me fix the problem.  The phone number given was 210-888-0671.  I got very suspect and said I would call him back - entered the number into Google and found this string of reports and others.  It had scam written all over it!

DO NOT, DO NOT give these scammers remote access to your computer!
They will rip you off and install viruses to STEAL any financial info you have stored.
Then you'll have your computer wiped and then you'll have to start all over again.
A headache no one needs.

Oh Really! B***s***! Why have you guys called me 4 times, and you don't even know what computer I have, and the OS system I am running.Do you just assume all people use Windows? I don't,for the reason that is what you are trying to do to people who do use Windows!
I feel a little safer with a Mac because of all the built in features for security. The only Malware so far that has come out is MAC DEFENDER,but it only makes the Mac looks like it is loaded with virus's when it really is not.A user who does not know, sends money to people like you to have it "removed".
Very few have fallen for this scam,as the Mac community gets the word out right away. CNET for one and MacIntouch for another.

They never give up. "I have a virus in my PC that needs to be removed". So my response is: "Sir,tell me who my Internet Provider is and also my current IP address is at this very moment". He pauses in his response, then says "one moment". The moment lasts for just about a minuite, then the line "mysteriously" became disconnected.
This was the third call from an Indian guy. I have a Mac,so it didn't take me 1 second to figure out that what he was going to try to do,and charge me for it

Same.  I have been called by an Indian sounding guy at least 6 or 7 times over the past 2 weeks.  This scam has been reported in our local paper.  First few times I hung up, then I quizzed them on the fact that it was a scam and they hung up, and a few minutes ago I said I was busy and could I call them back.  The guy said he was called David Harper, on 210-888-0671.  I phoned RCMP with the info and they have given me the Phonebusters number to report it to:  1-888-495-8501.

We were contacted by these jokers today. The person on the line claiming that they were working for Microsoft and we had to give them access to our computer in order to remove viruses from it.

They gave us the 210-888-0671 number as a way to call them back.

These guys are not legitimate, and you should refuse to speak with them. Microsoft DOES NOT monitor your computer for viruses, nor does your internet service provider. Additionally, neither would give out your contact information to a third party, as that would violate most privacy policies.

These are crooks who are using a cold calling list to attempt to SCAM you. If you receive one of these phone calls and are afraid your computer does have viruses, don't do anything they ask of you! Instead, contact the dealer from whom you purchased your PC, or have a tech-savvy relative or friend look at it for you.

Event Reminder
was waiting for call-back from a Shaw technician and when the phone rang, i answered and being a pen-
sionere did not realize that it was someone else as the man started talking about my needing 3 new
"parts' ( i can't remember right now what they are called), and informed me it would be a cost of $200.00
(two  hundred dollars) and kept trying to get me to get a Mastercard, Visa  (or the likes) or asked me if
i knew anyone that has one that would 'help me out'. Being a total fool and too trusting, i told 'him' that
i would have the money on Aug.29-2011 and not having a charge card would have to pay it some other
way; the point of this COMPLAINT being that when i realized the BIG MISTAKE i had made even talk-
ing to ANYONE about personal matters like that it had me "fired up" as i totally dislike(to put it lightly)
people '"playing games!"with me. I suggest you have one 'good, strong' talk with Jeffrey Connor at your

I received a call late last night from an unknown number....it hung up within 2 seconds after I answered.  For some reason, I told my wife, "great, now they know they got a active line and we will get spam calls".

Let it be know today at 2.30 pm I got a call from New York 212-777-3456.  A guy with a strong accent claimed to be a Microsoft tech and was calling me because they received error reports from my computer.

He said he will help me correct the problem.  I recorded his conversation because I knew he was immediately full of S*#T.  Non the less I amused him and followed his directions up to a certain point.  Here is what he wanted me to do:

Go to start menu, right click on my computer,  manage, system tools, event viewer, log summary.  There he asked me if there were any errors.  There were however, I know this is normal.

He then asked me to go into MSCONFIG through run menu, services and he stated all Microsoft windows should be running.  (Some of mine were not and I didn't elaborate what was running and not running).

He then stated he can eliminate all errors and fix my computer and he began telling me my computer may have been hijacked by a hacker and this is why I am having problems with my computer that he will fix for me.

He gave me a web site (www.ammyy.com) that I can go to so he then log onto my computer and fix my issues.  At this point I began asking him questions about who he is and his company.  He was annoyed but answered, I guess he though he had me!

This is the info I got from him:

Name: Frankie Ramsey
Operator # 0259
He stated he was a Microsoft Tech but do not work for Microsoft.  Microsoft sends this company error reports to handle.
Company Name: Hawk Tech live (googled but nothing found)
I asked where he is calling from, his reply was Texas but from a NY number!!!

He kept interrupting me during the 3rd degree questioning and asked me if I know what hackers do and that he will install 3 programs onto my pc to fix the problems I apparently was having (by the way I was having no problems - I use a mac) lol.

I told him before I go any further that I would like to investigate everything he told me and asked me to do so I could be more comfortable and know what was being done.  He said sure and gave me 210-888-0671 number to reach him to continue anytime.  Im not planning on calling back!

Anything we can do with this number and Bogus info?  I am from BC, Canada.

Cheers
Nigel

These scammers just tried to get my father as well. Finally, years of telling him to be careful have paid off. He told the person "Angel Smit" that he we need to talk to his son before he went any further. Dad called me, I punched in this phone number and what do you know...a SCAM.
