Thr message is the same as reported above, however, I wasnt as smart as others. I thought I was talking with someone from facebook. They were able to get into my computer.  All I needed was access to my facebook account.  After numerous questions in their broken English I ended the call.  They left me their phone number and each time I call I try to get more information from them. They wanted to sell a virus protection plan for a year and assured me that soon my computer would show up a black screen.  I cant get into my facebook account and my computer will  boot up but does not allow me to click on any icons.

Got exactly the same just now,

They even got the name wrong but was pretty close. They call from india and mention about receiving
warning from my PC. Told him i own a IT company and had plenty of knowlege inhouse, did not need any help. The guy started to insist like no tomorrow, said no one else could fix this but them. I finally ask how did they know we could not fix it ourself...he said its a guess..i said well you guess wrong..he than hang up.

This number i.e. 210-88-0786 is from a call center based in India they call saying that they are from MICROSOFT which is totally fake and then they take access of your computer and retrieve all the important data like banking details and they also ask money to fix up your computer, HAWKS TECH LIVE is what they say is associated with MICROSOFT which is again a SCAM which they do, I have reported about them to Sheriff and to my lawyer as well as they harassed me when i said no to purchase their services.

as a post posting note/though:

I was clever enough to ask for a number I could leave for the owner of the pc to call back and I was given 210-888-0786 to contact, I asked if they had a toll-free number to call as this was out of area for us and was told no and this was a direct line to assistance. Im pretty sure legitimate companies like this have usually have toll-free numbers for their out of area clients.

Just call a call from 210-888-0786 wanting to help me with virus issues for a pc in my home. Apparently there have been issues error messages from a trojan virus in the pc over the last few days and they were calling from Microsoft to help. The person who owns the pc has been on vacation for over a month and the computer has not been turned on. So this isnt actually true. I asked if they had a physical IP address and name for the computer and they gave me the name of the person who owns the pc, but not the name that its registered under. Further to this, a friend of mine who works in Microsoft tech support, the real one, informs me they only return calls that have been made to them, they do not contact uses by phone to prevent viruses.
I asked several times if the call was from Microsoft, and it turns out the call is from "Advanced Tech Support" - which is the name of the company and is NOT a division of Microsoft, it is its own company which wants to gain remote access to your computer and sell you tech support.
This is a scam and while it sounds real, its not! Dont get taken in!!!
The person calling wanted me to open my computer up remote assistance, this would give them access to the pc and who knows what they wanted to do with that......
My friend at Microsoft tells me this is becoming a common scam and is not how Microsoft conducts its customer support - so please be careful

They called saying I had a virus and had to pass over my computer control to them.  googled the number and discovered lots of scam reports about it.

I got the same call saying I had a virus, I suspected a scam as they kept saying I could not fix the virus myself and had to hand over access on my PC to them.   Googled and and found this page - glad I did!

I answered a call from this number because they phoned so much-they said (in very heavily accented english) that they were calling in response to the error reports I sent to Microsoft. I asked them over and over again if it was Microsoft calling, and the guy actually got attitude with me, even though he wouldn't give me a straight answer! They get you to go onto the start menu and veiw some very common and nonproblematic log of error reports sent, then tell you to right click them and press delete. When the 'delete' option doesn't come up, they try to tell you that you have a hacker and that this is very serious. Then you get transferred to a 'Senior IT Technician' who wants remote access to your computer. DO NOT GIVE ANYONE YOU DON'T KNOW REMOTE ACCESS TO YOUR COMPUTER!  This is where our conversation ended.

Btw, they gave me employee numbers that don't prove anything. Microsoft does not make unsolicited calls to thier customers to 'fix problems', according to their statement.
