Got a call at the office today.  Caller ID blocked.  Said he was David Johnson from Windows Technical and his call back number was 210-888-9112.  Heavy middle east or far east accent, difficult to understand.  He also called last fall.  I asked him then why his number was blocked and he said "because some bad peoples use it."  I suspect he is one of those bad peoples.

Yes, they are still at it.  Got a call today at the office from "David Johnson" with the above described accent.  He said he was with "Windows Technical" and his call back number was 210-888-9112.  He called several times last fall also.

They are still at it a year later.  I received a call similar to Jim's (June 5, 2013 post) yesterday.  I have been having problems with my Outlook Express for the past month, otherwise I would have hung up on the guy when I heard his strong accent.  Did not get the name of the first guy, but the "senior engineer" he switched me to is now named Steve Austin....the company name is still Southend Enterprises and they still use the 210-888-9112 phone number.  "Steve" had pretty good answers for most of my questions, but when he wanted me to give him control of my computer, I balked.  My son googled the number and gave me your web address.  I told my friends at choir last night, and found one of them had received a similar call a couple of months ago.  Wish she had told me earlier, so I am letting all my email buddies know about this.

I keep getting called. I just received a call from someone with a very thick accent named John Williams. Yeah, I believe that one. I asked to speak to a supervisor and he hung up. How do we stop these people?

I received a call this morning from a man that said he was calling about a problem with Windows that I needed to fix, and advised me to go to my computer to solve the problem.  I said I was busy and would call him back.  He said his name was Edward Williams and call back number was 210 888 9112.

I am sure this is a scam but having a problem finding a number where to report it.

Just got a similar call today and also one Saturday morning (my husband took that call) from this same number . Very thick accent as well and he was being insistent that I go to my computer and he would walk me through the windows error report problems. My gut told me something is not right here as I have sent sent numerous error reports when my computer was new and no one has ever gotten back to me from Windows technical department. Now, my computer is approx 5 years old and I don't send error reports and they want to help. Something is rotten in Denmark here. Should we notify Windows about these scammers/imposters??

Thanks,
Susan

This is the number that the heavy accented man gave me to call to confirm my suspicions.  The number he called from was 1458974624(as shown on caller ID) no names.  Scam was the first thing that came to my mind when I told him I was very unsure about his calling me, rather than me calling his company to have issues on my computer taken care of.  NO NO NO , NOT IN MY COMPUTER!!  Said his name was Robin Wilson

I just received a call from "Henrique" also with the same story.  My computer has errors and they can help me fix it.  There would be a one time fee.  When I asked them how I knew he was with Windows he gave me the number 210-888-9112 and for me to call it.  I searched for the number and came up with this site and verified that it is a scam.  When I told him I was reading all about the scam he hung up on me.  I never believe anyone when they call me.

You are a filthy, lying scumbag, "Davil". Oddly enough, your name, "Davil Williams" is the same name given over the phone by the person who called telling us our computer was infected. You are very bad at the interwebs. Go rot in a deep dark hole.

Do not follow their instructions when they call. I did verify with microsoft that this is a scam. They will tell you to go into you computer and verify information and on one option they say that they can prove it is not a scam by reading back you computer ID which all computers have the same Once they have you they will tell you to go to www.support.me and it is logmein rescue and they will tell you to enter a 6 digit code that will give them access to get into your computer. Do not get to this step. I have provided microsoft with all of the information.

'Mark Williams' just called with the same story - from the technical department of Windows.  Heavy Indian accent.  Apparently my pc has sent them a file saying there are issues with my pc - total scam.  Wish they could trace the number he gave me 210-888-9112... or someone could reverse-hack into his pc and trash it.

Me too! Some guy with a heavy Indian(?) accent called me and said that my computer was infected and that he was from the technical dept of Windows.  I asked him if he was from Microsoft and he said no. He was from a different company. When I asked the name, I couldn't understand him due to his accent. Then I kept pressing him to explain how he got my phone number. He said that their server was receiving error messages from the copy of Windows on my PC and that when I am connected to the internet, my computer automatically shows that information.

He proceeded to show me all my computer's errors. I am very aware that my PC has errors that slow my PC down. I just haven't had time to go by a PC cleaner. The weird thing was that he directed me to their company website, www.showmypc.com.  Directly below the download button was a statement in red stating, "ShowMyPC does not call users to fix computers."

I told him I would ask my friends to help me clean up the errors on my PC and that I would call him back if he gave me his number which was 210.888.9112. PC clean up software is not expensive. I know what to buy.

My computer geek friends said this was such b***s***.

I also received a call today from Mark Willam(s?) who told me he wanted access to my PC to show me the problems that had been reported to Microsoft.  I asked him to provide me with the error code he received, and confirmation how he obtained my home phone number from that code.  He could/would not, just kept insisting he needed access to my system to show me the problems.  I did not allow him access and told him not to call back.  He told me his contact information was Southend Enterprises, Employee #169157, 1-210-888-9112.  I find it telling that the promoter on this website is from Davil Williams (relation???).  Davil - if this is such a legitimate company that you strongly recommend, please provide me with the full legal name and address including postal code so I can make a formal complaint to the BBB.  I doubt we will ever hear from you again...

You mean this company?   http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/fo ... 34-f2b86d47a962  The one on the official Windows forums that states CLEARLY is a scam?

How DO you sleep at night? Clearly you're not laying awake a) feeling badly about bad attempts at cheating people out of their money or b) coming up with convincing shill posts.

Heh, I'm sure you secure people's bank accounts more than you do computers.

Companies cannot cold call you to tell you something is wrong with your computer; they'd have NO way of knowing - not to mention even Microsoft says it's a scam. http://www.microsoft.com/security/online-privacy/avoid-phone-scams.aspx

Thus: high probability that you're a lying shill. :)

He called with a strong accent, and said he was from Texas.... (Right ....). He insisted I trust every thing he said was true, just because he told me it was. He said nothing, nor did he give any references that would make me trust him. I told him the call was over, I would not call him back, nor would I go into my computer management screen for him. I had to tell him I was done with this phone call three times, then I said 'This call is over!' and I hung up.

Got a call today from a guy with a heavy East Indian/Pakistani accent who said he was calling from Windows and either my computer or Windows was infected with a virus that was destroying my computer. I played along for a minute and he tried to walk me through to - I assume, give him remote access. When I told him that his call sounded like a scam and asked for a number to call back. He gave me this number - 210-888-9112, "for people like you to call who think this is a scam." (LOL).  No number came up on my caller ID, it just read Unknown Caller.

Received a call today, same Michael, same thick accent telling me to sit in front of my computer so he could walk me through the virus infecting my Windows 7.  I persisted in getting his phone number and he said their company was South End Enterprises. The number he was calling from was 521-589-9000.

I got a call from someone who told me he worked for Windows manintenance and that my commputer was infected and walked me through finding the errors and warnings log on my Windows 7 application. Eventually he switched me to the "senior engineer" a guy who gave me his name as Ryan Williams. Both had a heavy accent. When I asked him where he was located hen told me Redmond, WA. 210 is a San Antonio area code. He also told me that there would be a one-time charge for cleaning my computer and restoring Windows security settings (said they deactivated at 2 years). He couldn't tell me how much because each computer is configured differently. When I told him I wanted to check out some things and that I could call him back, he was very anxious about me being sure to call him right back.
