I get calls from this number early in the morning.  I see from comments a lot of people saying this is about a car loan application.  well, I never applied for a car loan, but I have recently researched health insurance.  so, this is definitely some kind of scam.  I have finally chosen to not answer calls from #'s I do not recognize as friends or relatives or companies I deal with like my insurance company or bank and I program every viable phone # into my contacts so that a name comes up if I know the person and I don't answer if the # does not have a name attached on my ID display.

I am a in-home-caregiver who was serving my patient her dinner when this scam artist with a heavy Asian accent called her number.  She was unable to understand him and gave the phone to me. This man said, " I am calling from Microsoft and your computer is sending  a continuous error message that is creating a ..." There is nothing wrong with this computer," I told him firmly when he immediatly tried   to hang up several times.
I believe this is a scam number used by a lot of ...well lets just call them thieves.
A thief is a cheat and a liar and can not have just one of these traits without having three.

Well newest attachmet to this number is this:

Getting 3 or 4 calls from 210-839-5553.  Caller (Male with heavy India (ian?) Accent who is very difficult to understand says they calling about my Windows Operating System on your computer....there was a error message reported to them, and that my computer was infecting theirs with a virus.   I was slient for a long moment deciding on wither to be really extremely rude (Married for 30 years to a Retired Marine so I CAN swear)  His voice comes back in a rude tone, Ma'am, Did you hear me?     I chose to tell him.....1.  I can not understand half of what you say due to your accent.    2. You are a fraud.  3. Do not ever call this number again.  Have a nice day and hung up.

This is the third or 4th time I have received a call from this number and ones close to it.  With a very thick "India" (ian) accent tries to tell me that my windows operating system, has corrupted their computers, and they have traced it back to this phone number...I have cut this man off at this point, telling him, 1.  You are a Fraud. 2.  You will NOT call this number again.  And Hand up.

I got a call from 210 893 5553 about my "windows computer".  I asked this woman where I would manifest a computer out of thin air, and then she continued to bug me about the computer. I continued to repeat that I did not own a computer and she just kept babbling.  Definitely an accent, could be Indian but it also could be another accent (I've had many professors from India).  Watch out! Do not give them any information about your computer or a family member's.  Glad I found this website also.

For several weeks I have been receiving 4 or 5 calls a day from "San Antonio, TX 210-893-5553" and since
I don't know anyone there or recognize the number, I have ignored the calls, but it is EXTREMELY ANNOYING to continue to get these calls all day long.  Like so many others, I googled the number and read many of the comments, and am glad to know this is a scam. I have NOT applied for any loan or job or college or anything I can think of that would connect me with this kind of scam. Does anyone out there know who this should be reported to in order for it to be investigated and stopped?  Thanks for any suggestions.

Same number, Indian accent. This time he's calling from "Windows Technical Department", helpfully informing me that my computer has been infected with some malware. Says they've been receiving messages from my IP address, with my Windows "CLSID number", and would I please go to my computer and turn it on, so he can show me the infection and help me. He says they're very concerned. It had scam written all over it.

Never said his name, couldn't identify his company ("Microsoft Windows"), wouldn't give me a URL, and when I asked for his phone number, he told me 2134573771 without pausing in the usual places. When I asked him if 213 was the area code, he said, no, just call that number. I didn't have time to mess around and probe him for more identifying details, so I just hung up.

An Indian sounding male called from this number and identified himself as a tech working for Microsoft.  He claimed my computer had been identified a having received a virus and wanted to help me remove the virus.

I told him I had a tech working for me and would have him check it out... he wanted to know how much I paid my tech, so I told him he is an employee of mine that handles all 15 of my computers.

He seemed to give up, then hung up.

Man with an Indian accent insisting they had detected an error with computer 8080917, and that it belonged to me. When I pressed him on how they had my name associated with this computer, he apologized and hung up. Obvious scam. I'm sure the next step would have been to install some "diagnostic" which is really spyware.

I got a call from a guy with an indian accent who said they were calling regarding "microsoft" and my computer. When I told him "I don't know who this is and I did not know what they were talking about" the guy immediately hung up.  I would strongly encourage you not to give any type of identifiable information to them or even confirm whether or not you are the person they are asking for.

I got a call today from some guy with a very thick Hindi accent who said a "satellite tracker" had found a "problem inside my computer's memory".  Since that is an utterly jack*** thing to say, I was a bit dumbfounded, but since I do run some GPS software, I said, "What?"  He repeated it, and said, "Just go to your computer."  I said, "You mean you have access to my computer?"  He said, "Yes".  I said, "Gee - that means I either gave you access - which I most certainly did not - or else you're breaking the law, right?"  He said, "OK", and hung up.

This guy is obviously a real dumbass, and I could barely understand him - and I've employed programmers in India before.  Dunno if he can talk someone into doing something dumb.  Not sure what he even had planned.  Just logging this for the good of suffering humanity.

I got a call from a man with a heavy indian accent telling me I had a virus on my computer and that I needed to immediately turn it on and follow his instructions. I told him I needed to verify that he indeed was legit. He told me there was no time. I told him again that I had to verify who he was and he said he would call back in ten minutes. He never called back!

I received a call from this number on my iPhone telling me that they were receiving messages from my computer uploading something something and asked me to turn on my computer.  I told him to hold on and then I looked this number up on my iPhone.   Once I saw all of the  messages here about the various scans associated with this number, I hung up on him.
If you look at the messages at the beginning of all of this, last year it was loan collection calls.  This year it is computer related calls.
I always use this look up feature when I'm not sure about the call.  I'm not sure where this scam was going but it couldn't have been heading on a good direction.  I am glad thSt they have websites such as this one.  I will try to report this.
