call claimed to be from my health insurance company, seeking permission to call me further to explain more plan options even though I'm in Virginia and the number's from New York. IMHO Romney's wrong about being able to fire health insurance provicers, since their misconduct usually occurs after the subscriber has been diagnosed for a medical condition. The New york connection may be explained by the connection between my insurer and United healthcare, and their joint computer services subsidiary, once known as Ingenix and which was sanctioned by the New York attorney general, with a settlement only applicable in that state. I wasn't impressed when the robocall swtiched to a recording mode in asking that question (to which I replied "no"). Perhaps the health insurance companies are worried about proposed Virginia laws relating to phone harassment. This health insurer and its partners have no compunctions about violating HIPAA, FDCPA and the CANSPAM federal laws, boasting about relationships with regulators.

Received call with recorded MSG from this number about opportunity to lower credit card interest rate. I am on Do Not Call list, whatever the good that does Waited thru entire recording to hear which number to press to opt out of future solicitations, as I believe is required by law-- the option was never provided

I get a lot of these CC scam calls too and I do not have a credit card. Debt is for suckers.

Recording from Chase about a Visa credit card (we don't even have it). Pressed 9 to be transfered. I notified the rep that our number was on FCC Do Not Call list and asked to be removed from their calling list. He just hung up on me in the middle of my sentence.

Any exchange ending in 11 like 211, 411, 911, etc. is special and reserved. No phone numbers are ever assigned to these. If you see a caller ID with an exchange ending in 11 you know it's a fake and not a working number.
