I received a call from 1-212-305-9988 on my cell phone (AT&T is NOT the carrier). I didn't answer it because I didn't recognize the number. I looked it up and this site came up. "I called this number back from a land line and got I'M SORRY YOUR NUMBER DID NOT GO THROUGH. WILL YOU PLEASE HANG UP AND TRY YOUR CALL AGAIN. THIS IS A RECORDING. 5 E 1." i DID THIS TWICE AND GOT THE SAME RESULT. As I was calling this number, a voice mail was left on my cell phone. I checked it and it was a computer "voice" stating the call was from DISHNETWORK and to call ANOTHER number. When I called that number, the live operator who answered after hearing "PUSH OR SAY..." and saying a number of times CUSTOMER SERVICE claimed they did not know what phone number I was talking about and kept telling me WELL WHAT NUMBER DID YOU CALL? When I asked for this operators supervisor, I was put on hold for a couple of minutes and the phone went dead and the message CALL ENDED appeared on my cell phone. How nice!!!

I got a call from that number this afternoon, but I was half asleep when the phone was given to me, looked at the caller ID and said to myself, "Sorry, I don't know you." and hung up. I just now remembered that, and forgot that I left a message with the company for my Manager to call me when he gets the time to do so, and had second thoughts after realizing he has a (206) number. Anyways, shouldn't have bragged about the money that I make on myspace, ha ha. Corporate America @ work!

Oh who would have guessed.Chinese professor.Looks like their sending their best hacker for the job. There probably targeting Alaskans cause they think were all rich because of our natural resources.(oil)We all know we are definitely not rich in this state, at least most are not. This number called this morning(212)305-9988.We called it back on my friends cell and it said this number is no longer in service.Quite the hacker.Beware people you need to report this number to police and your credit union. We also have an account at a CU, and our cellular service is thru AT&T, however they called on our home phone which AT&T does not provide the service for.

I received a call on my cell phone at 11:56 pm that laft a voice mail saying that my visa debit card had been deactivated, the recording was really bad quality - I deleted the voice mail but wondered how they got the number.
| also in AK 2009-09-03 19:23:52 Unknown |
212-305-9988 called me at 2:47am and left a voice mail, very bad recorded voice about my visa debit card being deactivated and to press 1 for their security department. My husband had received the same phone call yesterday and it also went to voice mail. One thing these scammers failed to realize, is how is their "phish" going to press 1 when it's a voice mail?
Wondering how they got our cell phone numbers, and wondering what other info they have now?????

My friend got a call from this number. It was as described earlier; recorded message, said they were "Visa", there was unusual activity on the account, press 1 for more info.... She hung up. I looked up the phone number on-line, found it is registered to a Chinese professor at Columbia University. I suspect that a Chinese organization is using his phone number as a portal to "phish" for people to give them information. Somehow they got information on credit union members here in Alaska.

Received a call yesterday around 5:30 pm saying our Visa debit cards had been compromised. We called the CU, who confirmed that our cards were fine. Then, around 9:30 pm, this ph# dialed my cell phone 10 times in a row with the same message-press one to give information...We have cell service through AT&T as well. The CU doesn't have our cell phone number on file??

My wife and I received the same calls on our cell phones on 8/2 at 10:30 and 11:30pm. Weird thing is, she is a CU member and I am not. How they got our cell phone numbers is a mystery as the CU does not have our cell phone numbers. We both use AT&T as cell phone provider.

Also in Alaska. My daughter is out of state and got this call yesterday. She asked me to check with the CU since she hasn't used her card down there. Definitely a scam, the CU is aware of it.
I got the call this morning on my cell phone. The CU does not have that number!
Oh, and my call came in at 2AM.

Just got the call August 2nd about 10:15pm.
Computer voice informing me that my Visa has been deactivated and to press one to reactivate it.
Lucky me I had let it go to voice mail. I did some research and found this page.

Same thing. Interested in how a new york scammer got a list of Alaskans (guessing here) who belong to the same FCU and have debit cardS through that bank. As a credit union, it's privately owned (ie - Alaska) unlike a bank such as Wells Fargo.. Definitely a scam though.
Including the following info for those that wish to pursue this. Confident that the person listed below is NOT the caller and that his phone number has been "stolen". However, both he and the NY police can deal with it rather than us Alaskans.
whitepages.com came up with 212-305-9988 belonging to Hong Jiang, whose address is 630 W 168th Street, New York, NY 10032-3725, the number is a landline and the phone company lists as Verizon.
Under the Journal of Clinical Science, the following is found Department of Medicine, College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University, 630 West 168th Street, PH8-406, New York, New York 10032, USA. Phone: (212) 305-9988; Fax: (212) 305-4943; E-mail: hj4@columbia.edu ...

It's too bad the person behind this will likely never be known, there are plenty of swamps near me...

Just received a call from this number to my AK cell phone. It was a very poor quality automated recording from "VISA". The voice said they regretted to inform me my Visa debit card had been compromised and deactivated. Then it prompted me to press 1 to be transferred to their security center and give my information.
I hung up!!
