ot a call from this number; I live in  the midwest; I have never been to the New York area; I have never been to the medical clinic there and lastly I still believe  there is something fishy.

So go figure!!

Getting calls at different times  But I NEVER answer.. From all the reports I see in several sites, they say it for different things (hospital, Gas& Electric Co., surveys, collecting agency verifying numbers, etc. etc.)  but None of them make sense, maybe the last one (collecting)..

I need to know who call from this number to my cell I was on the other line trying to reach the number but cant

I got 15 calls from this number today. Most of them with a message. In them, a guy speaks in a muffled voice. He seems to be on something. In the first two messages I think he is saying "Give me a call" The following 2 said "Hello, b***h, give me a call" The fifth was a 4 minute voice mail with long silences interrupted by "when are you gonna call me? (...) When!!!! (Yelling followed by silence followed by more yelling)

There were 4 blank messages also.

After a while I answered to tell this guy he had the wrong number. This phone call lasted 36 seconds. Then he called me right back and I repeated "wrong number" and hung up. I thought I was in the clear when he called me again at night. I yelled wrong number and then I ignored the next 3 calls. For all of them he left messages.

I guess I'll stop answering from now on. What's the point of all this? Does North Shore have a psych unit?

This is the switchboard # for North shore univ hospital.  All of their comm units IT PHONE AND ARCHIVAL SYSTEMS ARE IN MANHATTAN. Thats why the 212 area code.

This is a general number for North Shore Long Island Jewish Medical Center. You are probably being contacted from someone in this very large institution. They cannot leave messages identifying anyone on an answering machine because it is against the law (HIPPA).

got a call from this number person did not leave a message just hung up. when i call back they hung up. need to get a life.

OMG, now it makes sense! I was just at North Shore today for an appointment but the missed call registered about 15 minutes afterwards. There wasn't any voicemail left though. What everyone else said about calling back with phone only ringing once then just white noise & call hanging up after 12 seconds was the same for me - except the second call I made only lasted 9 seconds!

Problem solved, case closed! Everyone can move on with their lives now. Yipee =)

The number is the out going phone number from the LIJ North shore. For those with phones in the patient rooms

Got a call from 212-324-9712.  My job is primarily with hospitals, so it was very unnerving to see North Shore University Hospital number and not to get a message.

All calls placed from North Shore University Hospital show up on caller ID as coming from this number.  It doesn't matter what the caller's real number is, this is what you get on your caller ID. This is the # for the North Shore switchboard.

If this is really North Shore University Hospital, why does it have a Manhattan area code, and not 516?
