Set you voice mail or answering machine to answer after at least 7 rings. With few exceptions the robo-dialer will hang up before your phone is answered. Time is money to these scum bags and they usually hang up after 4-6 rings and go to the next number.

Several calls from this number selling medical alerts.

The calls I get come from numbers in the 212 area code that are just a digit or two different each time.  I can block/reject several numbers but in looking at the numbers I do get I would have to be able to reject about 38,000 numbers to get them all.  My phone can't do that.  I'm still digging.  Oh, the calls I get are trying to get an authorization to ship the medic-alert equipment that has been processed in my name.............NOT in this life, thank you very much!

You are far from alone with this pain in the .....well I won't go there.  I get these from several different numbers in the 212 area code.  I tried calling them back and got a "not a working number" recording on some.  One said "the number has been illegally hijacked by a telemarketing group, please contact your service provider, which I did (AT&T) with no help.  One number had a recording that said "Administrator supervisor line, please leave a call back name and number".  I didn't ride in on a turnip truck TODAY, I didn't leave a number either!!   Hang in there, if enough of us get up in arms someone will come up with a way to fix it!

Dont waste your time with useless reports..buy a call blocking device or a phone that blocks numbers..get something with at least 100 number blocking capacity..my blocker can block up to 1200 numbers and up to 10 different area codes...instead of complaining be proactive and do a google search on blockers...put these a holes out of business for good...or keep wasting your time with filing complaints to the useless FCC or FTC and telling everybody that you are on the do not call list.

These calls are driving me crazy, many numbers, no person ever.

I have no idea who this is, but obviously this number has had many complaints against it. Also I have gotten a call from 212-539-5472 and 212-539-5148. This is quite annoying and it needs to stop.

I get calls from this number frequently Ihave started not answering the phone.  I have my phone on the no call list doesn't seem to make any difference.  Not only this number but a number of others.  VERY ANNOYING

The number 212-539-5638 it called my home and answering machine came on and it was an automated voice saying I have been chosen to receive life alert and free groceries....I picked phone up and I pressed 1 to speak to live person and I told him that I have been requesting to be removed from there calling list and he was about to hang up on me and I had to verify with him my phone number he said I would be removed from being called..I said really I have told them numerous times and they proceed.to still ccall me....grrrrr very aggrivating

While your right about answering machine being the same as picking it up and actually answering it. The ROT is pick it up and hang it up as quickly as possible.. First - second ring always is best - pick it up and hang it up. Always report the calls too

You do realize that an answering machine confirms an active phone number. Answering machines work by "picking up" the phone on your behalf so that they can play their message. It's no different than you answering a real call manually.

Anyone who would suggest that you ignore the call is misinformed. It makes absolutely no difference.

In reality, and sadly, not likely to go any good.    The FTC/FCC/DNC list people typically only pay attention to numbers that have a large number of complaints against them.   The scammer you are dealing with here while calling nation wide, and Canada too I believe, uses different spoofed (fake) numbers for relatively small geographical areas and then changes those spoofed numbers to new spoofed numbers often -- like every 2 to 3 weeks.   So, there is never a high number of complaints against any of the numbers and the government seems incapable of adding it all up to understand what a despicable situation this is.   They need a U.S. Senator to tell them to get off their a***s and do something about it.  

Actually, they are not really "selling" any device.    They typically claim that an already paid for device (paid for by a "loved one" or maybe even paid for by the person called) is available and ready for shipping and/or installation.   I guess now they are including $3,000 in "free" grocery coupons along with the "free" device.    Although, the device is "free" (or thought to be), the scammers do then ask for credit card information supposedly either for a $34 monthly monitoring service charge or a minimal handling charge of $.99.   But all you will ever see, at best, is something like a $999.99 charge on your credit card statement.

It's a extortion scam more than an illegal telemarketing scam because they intentionally target and attempt to bully and frighten those they believe to be elderly, ill, trusting, and/or alone.    Then they call relentlessly, multiple times per day, every day (except Sundays) , for months, attempting to push the old(er) person into eventually succumbing to the harassment.  Google "Michael Hilgar" to get some back ground on who is likely behind this.

Got a call from this scammer number at 9:52am - did not answer and true to form they hung up! Generally these a holes wait for the generic answering machine to kick on then there is dead air - whatever you do- DO NOT EVER ANSWER, then they know your number is a valid working number and they sell it for pennies on the dollar!

Have received numerous calls. No reason to have received a call from NY!

As with just about everyone else, there is no logical reason they should call our house. God knows why some place out of New York would call a number located in a rural area of Arizona. We signed up for the do-not-call list several years ago, I wonder if it needs to be renewed.

These people call and call and call and call.  I too am on the DNC registry which is an ABSOLUTE, TOTAL JOKE AND WASTE OF TIME.    They NEVER leave a message..   VERY FRIGGIN ANNOYING.

I got two calls from these a-holes today. I take care of my elderly parents. The message is for selling one of those I've-fallen-and-can't-get-up devices. I held the phone and asked for a representative who I then reamed out. I'd been assured in the past that I was off their list. Called the displayed number back and got the message that I'd reached a "non-working number" at Alicare health services.

Picked up tried to ask what they wanted but cut off,after questioning to much.Call number but go in to not working at alicare medical management .number on there site doe's match call number.I GUESS I lost out on a great offer.Second call today.Scam time.
