Same here, got the call no message left.
If you are job hunting watch out for some craigslist jobs that want to you fill out an online application. I think that is where they got my number from when I was looking for a job.

Yeah, it's for a company called "EMPLOYMENT SELECT." This company is in New York. They called me when I wasn't even job hunting. I couldn't reach the phone and they didn't leave a message.

I received a call from a phone number. I know it doesn't match up with this search, but if anybody recognizes the phone number 612-559-2095, could you please tell me? My phone number is 612-803-5265. Thank you.

I got a call from 212-601-9696 at 7:30 PM central time. No voice mail message was left. A little late to be calling about a job search or any sort of legitimate business. I have been applying for jobs and sending out resumes recently. I think this stems from a teacher assistant position off Yahoo Hot Jobs I applied for. That was more than a month ago. The recruiter seems very interested in collecting and confirming the personal information of you and your references and asking if you're interested in reducing your credit card debt and many other suspicious questions. Do legitimate companies use this number's service or is it a scam how most people here suspect?

This has to be the result of applying to something on Craigs List.  I did about a month ago and halfway through the application realized something wasn't right. So I cancelled out of it. Unfortunately, they already got my name, phone, and address.  Good thing there was no ss#. Anyway, I got a call from this number, called it back and waited on hold until I realized this was fishy. Then I went online to check it out. How awful for people to be taking advantage of those so desperate for work...especially in michigan! Disgusting.

I thinks it's a scam also, I don't answer unidentified numbers.  That's what voicemail and answering machines are for.  Just for everyone's "FYI"   I was also scammed on craigslist by a "career placement" company. I reported that one to the FTC.  Considering taking the time to report these numbers to the proper agencies, and maybe we can minimize the problem.

WoW...I just read through these...and yes, more of us are being targeted. Suggestion...Before sending out any job apps, check on and validate the company's website for STREET addresses and phone numbers, and give them a call.  Search for BBB association and other security features, and check if the Copyright dates at the bottom of site are old.  I reported the craigslist employment scam to craigslist and the FTC. It takes about 15 minutes, but we need to let these criminals know we are not going to put up with this.  We pay good money for our internet use/security, and we should not be made victims.  Always let your internet company know if you think youve been scammed also.. Good luck to all...

I'm positive that this came from Craigs List. I received this same call also, they did not leave a voicemial. If you go on Craigs List and the "employer" has an e-mail address from g-mail or a hyperlink that says "apply here", this is a scam. I'm really get tired of these solicitors.

Got a call from this number. No message was left. I tried calling the number back several times and got a recording which stated all circuits are busy now. I too am a job seeker, however, I have not been on craigslist seeking employment. I have used Yahoo. Does anyone know what company this company is?

Called and did not leave a message.  So I typed in the number to a google search engine and got to this page.  Seems that someone at this number is a preditor for anyone even attepting to hunt for a job.  My story is that same as the other postings here.  Perhaps someone needs to go to New York, in person, and step on this guys neck.

I just took this phone call this morning.I have been actively applying for jobs and carefully avoiding scams until ....    I used Craig's List, on Monday Aug 25th.

Here's the deal: Once I emailed my resume (which appeared to go direct to an employer) I received an email confirming receipt, and directing me to different website to complete their application.

When I got to the 3rd page of their application, the questions became personal, and had nothing to do with my work history; such as asking about my credit, cell phone carrier, health insurance and interest in further education. I went back to page 2 and deleted the references they requested (should have trusted my instincts on that alone; I almost gave them names and numbers to people which I high regard for, to contact and harrass), and did not continue the application process.

They still had my contact information from my resume, and in the phone all today, the only information the caller confirmed my name and cell phone number and proceeded to ask me questions about furthering my education - as soon as I challenged her interest in my employment, she hung up on me.

I always considered Craig's List a reliable resource. Whether they are aware of this pratice or not, it reflects terrible on Craig's List, and clearly indicates they are not taking the time, or concern for their patrons, to set standards for the companies their website will support.

It is a scam, but I wish I knew what they are really after. They often leave half message on your cell. If you answer via cell phone they will ask lots questions to eat up your minutes. Be careful. hopefully they all will have a hard life for making people suffer like this.
