I agree with you up to, but not including, the double-posting problem. That seems to occur occasionally because of a hiccup in the scripting language that this site uses. It's happened to me at times, especially when I post from an iPad.
annoyed 2013-11-03 16:31:02 Unknown
Yeah, why do you think that anyone here is able to stop these calls? Nobody here is responsible for any calls to your number. And you don't need to clog up the forum by posting the same exact text twice!
Warren 2013-11-03 03:52:23 Unknown
But who is it, that you would like to lose your number, and what is your number? The scammers don't run this site .Yet another doopa, just waiting to be scammed.

Lose my number

Just another of those unwanted and unsolicited calls trying to get money from someone and in return give nothing of value--if anything at all.

>>> Many companies, especially small businesses, have no idea how their Caller ID appears to others. ... After almost a year, they still have no idea how to change their Caller ID. <<<
The sad news is, they have NO CONTROL OVER THE CALLER NAME THAT APPEARS ON YOUR PHONE. When their call leaves the control of their own phone company, or even sometimes just their local area, their name is NOT (repeat: NOT) sent to the destination phone number along with their call. Instead, it is up to YOUR local phone company to look the caller name up in a commercial database. They pay about 0.004 to about 0.008 cents per call to do this. Multiply that by a few hundred thousand or million calls, and there is a great incentive to cut this service to the bone to line the pockets of the CEOs.
There is no guarantee that the caller name reported by the caller's phone company ever gets shared with an outside database provider, and even if it is (and I've paid good money to try to make SURE that happened), there is no guarantee that your phone company uses this database provider at all. This is especially true in the case of competing telephone companies -- the incumbent phone company is especially reluctant to make the competitive local exchange provider's service from looking too good, and most people don't realize that the incumbent provider can manipulate caller name services this way.
So don't blame your doctor. He has nothing to do with your not receiving his caller name. Blame your own phone company, instead.

Sorry to disagree with you. It would be nice if "...REPUTABLE people/companies will have their names and numbers CLEARLY marked on the Caller ID." I would love to block all Caller IDs with "Unavailable" or "Out of Area".
Unfortunately, many people have no idea how to work the technology they use every day. Examples: they have no idea how their Caller ID appears to others / they do not know how to turn off their ring tones in a public place / they are oblivious to the fact that the screen on their "smarter than they are" phone acts like a spotlight in a dark room (think movie theater).
Many companies, especially small businesses, have no idea how their Caller ID appears to others. I blocked a doctor's office for 6 weeks before I realized who the number belonged to. After almost a year, they still have no idea how to change their Caller ID.

You, myself, and others that visit this site obviously have internet access and caller id.as a first line of defense against fraud. God help the low income and the elderly, the main targets of these disgusting scammers, who many times, possibly due to financial considerations, cannot afford that luxury. Passing on the word of these lowlifes can help others to avoid being victimized.
Lucy 2013-11-01 20:49:02 Unknown
call every day.Must be very hungry that the victims are getting scarce because of this 800notes site..
Scammers also have to eat too, folk
keep reporting.
Billie 2013-11-01 18:53:51 Unknown
Likely, the best way to at least slow down the calls is to spread the word of these and other scammers, so they run out of potential victims, making it unprofitable for these druggies to continue calling.
Peeved 2013-11-01 18:28:10 Unknown
So, I get it that this is a widespread and well known scam, but how can consumers put a stop to it, especially since so many like myself is on the no call list?

We live in rural Virginia...This number calls our house EVERY DAY :( When we answer, they hang up on us. When we try to call them back, we receive a recording stating that this number is OUT OF SERVICE. Henceforth, I really wish these people would stop calling, bothering and ANNOYING the S%IT out of me!!! SMFH!!!
Sylvia 2013-11-01 13:57:01 Unknown
This number keeps calling our home everyday at different times. We never answer as we are able to
view numbers that call us and not answer numbers we do not recognize. I am feeling harrassed as they do not stop calling.
Kopi 2013-11-01 12:10:50 Telemarketer
scammer read this forum too. They could get tru after 5 rings and left message.
Now they know,it's 'live.' number and will keep calling.
If not this number 212-677-5122 will be other spoofed numbers.
Will have to increase to 7 rings so robocall will hang up before the answering machine picks up message.
I bet there are some senior citizens fall prey to this scheme, otherwise they wouldn't be calling.

#1 - DO NOT ANSWER any number that has:
A) ONLY the number
B) Number and city
C) City
D) Unavailable
E) Private
#2 - REPUTABLE people/companies will have their names and numbers CLEARLY marked on the Caller ID.
#3 - AUTO-ANSWERS - These are the calls that ring and ring, and then sound as if they have "hung up", but then you here a "beep, beep". The Caller ID says "Answering".

Anything I have ever reported has had no results. I think this site is a valid email gathering site.

Party called at 10:53 on 10/31/2013. Rang, no answer, held the phone call, then hear talking at the end and the party hung up. Called right back and got "this number is not in service".
