Call multiple times a week asking for my boss by first name.  Rude telemarketers, boiler room stock sales or something.  Uses the name Joe Martin and others.

They are nothing but a boiler room. A person name Frank Avelone called multiple times, If i listened I would have killed myself first it was Fanni mae, then rio, vlo, car the list goes on and on worst stock pickers in the world and he claimed he works with the owner. Wow what a great team of stock pickers.

The next time the telemarketer calls, slyly get them to tell you their name, the company they work for, and as much of that company’s info as you can charm out of them (you’ll need this to find their mailing address).
Then, invoke the TCPA (again, that’s the Telephone Consumer Protection Act), and ask the telemarketer to place you onto their Do Not Call list, and to be sent a copy of their Do Not Call policy.
If the calls stop, then you’ve won (because they’ve stopped calling you)! But if they do not, or if you do not receive a copy of their policy, then… you’ve still won ($$$). Record every subsequent call—each one is worth $500 to you—then look up your local Small Claims Court (2), fill out the 10 minutes of paperwork (usually online), and file a claim.(3)
Once the company is notified of the suit, they will either send a representative to Small Claims Court or, very often, settle out of court to avoid an argument they can’t win.
Collect your compensation, and enjoy the peace and quiet!

VERY VERY rude. Very Aggressive.
Said name was Mr. Gordon, tried making it sound like I should know who he was. Asked for attorney, then asked me to page attorney, then asked for attorney's secretary. Refused to take voice mail. I asked if he was a client, and he said he was trying to be, and very rudely demanded to speak to the attorney. I told him that all I could do was put him to his voice mail, then he angrily said he found someone else. Caller ID said "1st Rep Grp" 212-424-8100

My cell phone shows 5 calls from these people. I don't answer calls I don't recognize because of constant harassment from these brokers and scammers. I would heed the Nov 29 post above.

Received more calls from this bucket shop in the latter half of January '08. This morning it was "Ben" from "FRG." So I asked, "FRG, you mean First Republic Group?" He said "yes," and I told him that First Republic was on a do-not-call list and told him to check with their compliance officer. BTW, the officer's name is Mike Hanley (not exactly sure about last name.) I called back and left a threat on his voice mail this morning that the next step was to the SEC if the calls don't stop.

We are a law firm and they keep calling and calling - will not give up - Less Waldenberg keeps stating he is calling for personal reasons.  Our attorneys do not know who he is, but he is very rude.  Have had several other calls from this number - cannot get them to stop

Follow-up.

I DID call First Republic's compliance officer in late December. He put my name on their "no call" list. I still got two calls; one that day and one the next. I was told it "took time" for the no-call to be entered in the computer.

The calls stopped until today. I have now gotten two MORE calls: One from Joe at 9:03 and a second from Nick at 11:26. Obviously I am on various sucker lists, but I would NEVER open an account with a pile of aggressive sales people like this. I'm retired and the LAST thing I need to buy is bulletin board or pink sheet speculative touts from an organization over 1,000 miles away from my home.

Buyer beware!

I first posted about multiple calls from this number on November 29. They continued to call, and call, and call, sometimes two and three calls in a day. One call was at 7:41AM in the morning, another after 8:30PM. Various names: Mike, Joe, Nick, all with their can't-miss stock tout. When my wife says, "Can I take a message?" they hang up. Friday, (Dec 14) was the last straw. I told the cold-caller (this time it was "Mike") that that we weren't opening any new accounts. He replied, "WE? I'm talking to you." I said, "My wife, the one you M***F*** hang up on. That's the WE, and she is important to me whether you people think so or not." After hanging up in his face, I called the number back and asked to speak with their compliance officer. That is your last resort with these types of brokerage houses. ASK FOR THE COMPLIANCE OFFICER. It throws the fear of God in these weasels. Supposedly I'm now on their "Do Not Call" list. We'll see.

They are cold callers from some stock brokerage firm. They don't give up. When my wife answers (covering for me) and they ask for me, she says, "Not now, can I take a message?" they hang up. They touted PVX when I answered and I told the caller I wasn't opening any new accounts, period and hung up. One day later, they have made two MORE calls (we let it ring out) inside of  1/2 hour.

I have a warning for people being cold-called by ANY stock broker's customer man:
1) Before you respond to anything or anyone, rent and watch the movie "Boiler Room" and see how close their script is to the salesmen in this movie.
2) Any money you send to them will NEVER get back to you. Even if they are successful making you a profit, it will ALWAYS have to be re-invested in their latest tout. Eventually, they will cajole you that your account isn't big enough and that you should open a margin account. Margin (trading stocks with borrowed money) is almost always a 90% way of losing most of or all of your money, perhaps even more money than you invested to begin with.
3) Stocks go up, stocks go down. They might have a 55% chance of being right but a 45% chance of being wrong. THEY ARE NOT PRESCIENT; THERE IS NO GUARANTEE.
4) Stock investments always involve detailed record keeping for the IRS. You will be bombarded with mail from your broker that must be categorized and filed. If you are not an organized person, the stock market is NOT for you.

If you must get into the market, buy some good books, read a lot and do what is called due diligence on your stock choices. Then open a DISCOUNT BROKER account. The big names are Scottrade, TD Ameritrade and Fidelity. They are all good. Go to finance.yahoo.com and you will see their ads.

their boss is Eric Strominger and CCO Chris Cuthbert   - They have also called me many times and never have a good story. This company seems to be a joke. They were First Republic and now Eastbrook but they are a "boiler room" shop... old shady wall street inexperienced brokers.

I got two calls from this number: 212-768-1800, a company called Eastbrook.  I screeen calls for my managers.  The callers hang up when they don't get the person they want.  Very rude.  I called back the number and spoke to a person who insisted he just answers the phone.  He had a slimy NY accent.

Got a call from the same number as other posters (212-768-1800) in refernce to buying stocks. I didn't quite catch the company name. The guy claimed to have sent me a package in the mail and wondered if I received it. I asked him how long had it been since he sent the so called package, and he said 6 months ago. Well, that's just hilarious because I have only been with my current company 3 months, so there was no way we would have ever talked.

I really didn't have time to talk to him because I was on another call when his came through. I'm a salesman myself so I can somewhat empathize, but don't pretend that you know me and you don't. Had he been upfront about why he was calling I probably would have listened and politely said, not interested. :)

These guys have been calling repeatedly - often several times per week over the course of many months - despite requests to stop.  Nothing inspires confidence in the financial advisors with whom I do business like repeated, random, and unwanted phonecalls.  Undoubtedly this is a real "top notch" operation!
