I too have gotten a call from these people. I first messed with them and started acting really nieve about the fact that they said I have a virus or some malware. They wanted to have me give them access to my PC and let them check for any malicous viral or malware present in my computer.  I then said that I don't have Microsoft I have Apple and they hung up. They keep calling me back sometimes twice a day and sometimes 6 to 10 times a day. I try calling back the number and there is never an answer. My suggestion is to take the call (if you have unlimited minutes and politley put them on hold. If you dont have any minutes to give to the jerks, Then save the number in your phone book as Do Not Answer for their name and then when they call you will know what to do.  Peolpe like this makes our world a little bit harder to trust anyone or anybody. It is sad but true. Hope this helps!

These people just called here to our business office and tried to tell us they were with Microsoft Technical Dept. Claiming that they were getting emails saying that we had a ton of viruses on our computers. They then wanted us to sit in front of our computers and let them walk us thru how to remove the so called viruses.  THIS IS A SCAM!!!  When we asked for their name and employee id numbers, they refused. When asked if there was a number we could call them back, they refused. When we asked to speak to a supervisor, the individual got upset and started yelling profanities at us.

It's not MY fault a scammer is on the phone if I happen to blow my whistle. It's MY house and if I feel like blowing my whistle, I'll do it. ;)

Called me 4 times so far - all about "computer problems". I do have fun with them but the whistle is what they will get the next time they call. Whistle is understandable in ALL languages. I don't know what category to place this call since they haven't gotten far enough to try to sell me anything or ask me for money as I've rwad they've done to others.

Just ask him to wait a second so you can turn your recorder on. They will not call back. Or just let him speak and keep asking silly questions like "could you tell me sir would this computer be warmer in the summer or out in the country".
But to spend hours like Fed Up or making up fake credit cards is a little over the top, I think. I just don't have that kind of time

If you get someone saying they are calling from Microsoft...

I've been in the IT business for 35+ years and I can guarantee that Microsoft will never call you directly.  If you're a little IT savy, you can setup an IP address to trap them, giving them false info that will cause them to try and hack into your IP, or log into your bank account, etc, etc...  The key to getting even with these a***oles is to give them information which they "think" is going to expose your personal information.  It's a game of who can trick who and you can be in the driving seat if you just realize a few IT basics.  If you're not sure on how to trick these a***oles into logging into a false account or IP, talk with your IT networking guy at work (or any IT friends you know of or do some googling).  A few basic "misdirections" and you can have these scammers in the palm of your hands (or the ftc.com).

I found what REALLY, REALLY pisses these a***oles off the most is if you take up a lot of their time (by sounding interested in their product) and then give them a "fake" credit card # to buy something (anything - make it big like $500+ - go all out - have some fun buying whatever they're trying to sell).  I've coordinated with the bank to setup a bogus credit card # which I've then reported stolen.  (You can even setup a real credit card # and then report it stolen).  These a***oles will call you back asking for another credit card # on which you can play stupid and say "That card worked yesterday, please try it again" (sound concerned)  (and keep telling them to "try it again" over and over again every time they call back saying "I don't have any other credit cards, I don't know why this didn't work - it worked fine yesterday - please try it again.").  Eventually after they've tried to run the card through a 1/2 dozen times (in which they get charged some kind of fee when it is rejected), they will eventually realize they've been suckered and become extremely, extremely irritated (I got to the point where I was laughing at this a***ole because he was soo pissed off because the card kept getting rejected.)  I even got him to the boiling point where he said they were going to send a few "soldiers" out to my address to "bump" me off (laugh, laugh)  (Laugh some more).  They can't do s*** other than to realize they just wasted several hours of their time trying to charge a fake credit card # (whenever fraudelant credit card #'s are attempted, they tend to get the attention of the Visa fraud department immediately, especially if they are attempted several times in just a few hours - hence the reason they get so pissed off!!)  You'll hear some new words.

The caller identifies himself as "Peter - with Microsoft" and says that my computer is infected and is sending out viruses worldwide.

I am behind a Sonic Wall - I have been in the computer business since 1979 and I assure you there are no viruses coming into or leaving my server or any of the attached pc's.

He has phoned 3 times today, and I have blocked their number from phoning again.

I had a call from this number just now. The person claimed to be from Microsoft and that I had viruses on my computer. I knew immediately that this was a scam designed to make me part with money for a so called anti-virus software which would be nothing of the sort. The Guardian newspaper did an article on this scam and tracked them down to Kolkata.

But I played along with them for about 20 minutes. When it got to the point that they were wanting me to access the internet I told them that I knew that this was a scam. They realised that I had been conning them rather than the other way and the phone went dead.

A couple of weeks ago I started getting these calls, today he called 3 times. The first time he said he was WITH MICROSOFT, so I told him today I had reported him.
The number both times says, '0000000000000', name unavailable.  I hit the redial last time, Chris answered, these Indian guys were in Northern California though not NY.
I told him today, I do not give a sh*t if my computer is sending out flowers or going on tour with Beyonce in the fall, QUIT CALLING ME IT IS HARRASSMENT!
The first time because he said he was from Microsoft and I had the phone #, I reported them to microsoft. When I called back & told Chris he said those exact words, he got concerned. I reported the number to the DNC registry as well. Same guy, same voice, and what they want is remote access to your computer with all your info.
DON'T FALL FOR IT, Microsoft never calls people obviously, nor do their real technicians.

These is just the latest number used by the perverts trying to illegally sell prescription drugs.

It doesn't matter how many times you ask to be taken off their calling lists, they ignore you. They've been calling me for years, asking for someone who doesn't live here (I've had this number for 20 years) and trying to sell to me.

I've never bought from them, I never will. So now when one of the pervert numbers comes up, I just connect the call and then immediately disconnect. It's better than hearing the phone ring, ring, ring.
