This number called our office line with a caller ID name of "Smokers Socials". We are a wellness center, so I am confused as to why they would call in the first place. When I picked up there was dead silence and then a busy signal. I called the number back to have our number removed and got a recording stating that number was not in service... how in the world can this happen??? How can a business or autodialer call from a number that is not in service??? SOOOOOO FRUSTRATING!!!

Here's what I do: I save all calls that appear to be a nuisance or Telemarketer Call on my cell phone as per the following example: "Telemarketer NY 212" or whatever state & area code they call from. This way I keep a record of everytime they call plus I immediately know "Not To Answer" because my Caller ID identifies them as a "Telemarketer"! In addition, if you get a call from the same area code but it is a different number then label the new number as "Telemarketer NY-2 212" etc. My phone book holds a lot of numbers so I never erase them. There may come a time where I will be asked to proof they are a nuisance......and I will be able to do so. In the mean time......I just ignore them from the point that I suspected they were a caller I didn't want wasting my time. If they are calling and really had something important to tell you, they would leave a message. Of course, THEY NEVER DO.....LOL.

Upon being picked up, the phone played classical music until a heavily-accented individual informed me that I, as well as a no-longer-existing small business I used to run (out of business since January) won some sort of "scratch card".
When informed that they had called a personal, non-business cellular phone (never associated with the business, I have no idea how they linked the defunct small business and my personal cell) that was on the Federal Do Not Call List, they apologized.
When I asked them for their company name and address, they hung up on me.
