got a call from this nuber on 10/10

Received a call from this number, no one replied when I answered. Tried dailing the number, and received a message number was not active.

It is most likely a payphone

I got a call from the same number at 11:43 AM CST on 10/10/08, and I have AT&T in Texas. Who is this guy? Makes me want to report this to the police. This is weird...

I think its some stupid company trying to scam into a warranty for your car. I have an acura, and from the numbers/msgs people keep saying it about car warranty, but my car is 6 yrs old so...

Called on 10/9/08 at 3:45. No voice mail or anything

This person called me too on October 9th 4:44pm. Picked up, and then nothing happened. Phone number or area code out of service. I wonder who this person is, its very strange!

Same thing - they called, I did not pick up, they did not leave a voice mail, when I went to call back the number is not in service.  They called today.

I got a call on my GrandCentral account from this number at 1:30 p.m. local time on 10/10/08.  Googling the number provides the name "Sergio Cortes" in NYC just west of Central Park.  This is probably some sort of spam call, and it is possible that the CID information is spoofed.  

To Nicole:  I have a friend with a Net10 phone and she had the same problem with unsolicited marketing calls.  Somebody at Net10 is selling their directories (or somebody is stealing them).

Are you all getting calls on your cell phone? I am, I have a prepaid Net10. Never before have I gotten so many spam calls before. Every time I look up a strange phone number that's called my cell, I find it on here. For the past 2 months, I've had about 6 or 7 reported numbers call my cell phone.

This doesn't happen with my house phone. This didn't happen when I had a Sprint cell phone.

Yeah, also in Texas and just got a call on my business phone - didn't recognize and not a company number so didn't answer.

If you aren't getting anything when you answer, makes me think its a company that does the cold calls to see what hours you are home to answer telemarketing calls.

Just called me around lunch time (12:28PM CST). I'm in TX and have no clue who this # is. I didn't answer, and they did not leave a message.

I received a call from this number on Thurs Oct 9th at about 6pm and when I answered no one responded and hung up...I called back and some weird recording came on saying the number is out of service and to try a different area code...very weird. How is that possible I see I wasn't the only person who received this call...find it very odd and shady
I googled it and it says it belongs to someone named Sergio Cortes with a new york city address...

Oh, and when I called back I also got a recording saying the number is out of service or may have moved to a different area code.  How someone can call from a number that's not in service, I don't know.

Called today at 5:54 PM CST, so too late for business hours in New York, where the number is located.  I don't know who this is--actually, I don't know anyone in New York.  I googled the phone number and it came up with a man's name, but I don't know the person.  No message was left.

Called me thursday October 9th at 4:27 pm. I live on the complete other side of the state. I'm assuming they got my number because it was recycled, but still, I'm getting tired of these calls. I'm fifteen, jeez. -_-

I did the same thing, but it's obviously bogus since a call-back got me the message of the number not being in service.

If you go to anywho.com and use the reverse lookup feature, this number is listed, and looks like a personal number in Manhattan.  Didn't want to post the guy's name, but you can go check it out and see if it rings a bell.

Follow-up:

Called the number and it says it's an invalid number. "not in service"

I let it go to voicemail since I don't know anybody in 212...must not have been important since no message was left.
