This is a phony number being used for a variety of frauds and scams, including the ubiquitous lower your credit card interest rate scam. More calls from telephone terrorists and devil worshippers, grouped into nuisance, scam and fraud calls.  A pox on them.  The more people complain to the FTC, the better the chances these animals will be shut down and their sponsors caged.  The worst thing you could do is to give them your credit card and personal data, so they can put fraudulent charges on your cards and steal your identity.  In addition, what is presented by the caller as small fees to be paid up front for interest rate lowering, will end up as huge charges on your credit card for something which will never be fulfilled.

Unfortunately, as this is a major election year for Congress, local dog catchers, sheriffs, etc., we can expect an increasing number of these types of fraudulent calls to annoy us and try to steal our money and identities.  It is also an opportunity to vote out of office all of the firebreathers, tea partyers and other wackos who shut down the Government last year for 16 days, who still oppose Obamacare (despite the fact that millions of their constituents have been able to sign up for affordable health care), and who are shameless liars and embarrass the U.S. with their dumb behavior.  Do not donate anything over the phone to anyone, period; an open invitation to fraud and the countless bandits who will simply pocket your "donations."  IF YOU ARE IN A POSITION OF RESPONSIBILITY OR ARE AN ELECTED OFFICIAL, BE PART OF THE SOLUTION, NOT PART OF THE PROBLEM, AND CULTURE TEAMWORK AT ALL TIMES!

It is assumed that all improperly or incompletely identified numbers are from the increasing number of scams, frauds, tie-lines, etc. This is why everyone must contact their elected reps in DC to demand that they significantly strengthen the DNC laws, providing extremely severe dollar and prison sentences for violators, and give more strength to the FTC.  This is an opportunity for Congress to actually do something useful for the country, not just pass gas and throw spitballs at each other.  Any business must be properly identified with their legal name on Caller Id, not hide behind Not Available, Private, Unavailable, etc.  It is time to ban any kind of solicitation call, whether telemarketer, charitable, political, survey, opinion poll or whatever, plus outlaw any use of tie lines, robo-callers, VoIP,  or use of numbers not issued by a legitimate, FCC licensed common carrier (telephone company).  You can be assured that funds donated or authorized over the phone will mostly go into the pockets of the organizers, not to the charity or political campaign, or intended purpose, along with a $10 donation showing up as $100s in charges.  Never give a credit card number or any personal data to anyone over the phone. There must be a new scam and fraud being generated every second out there.  We need call control, not gun control!

Call from this number or a blocked number forwards you to a machine recording.  to talk to a live person, one must press "9".  once talking to a person, they seem to be non-native English speakers.  They ask why I am calling.  When I respond that their auto-dialer called me, they ask to speak to, usually Joseph, but other names are occasionally used.  They've never been lucky enough to guess my name, so they clearly never know for whom they are calling.  The only company name I've been able to glean is "loans for emergency", but again, the English is so broken, I am not sure this is correct.

Answered it on a whim because it was such a strange number, no one answered. LAAAAAME.

Got a call from this number on Thanksgiving Day,  on my cellphone, no less, at 3:28 pm! The inconsideration, lack of respect for the holiday and family time and the NERVE to even be allowed to operate!  I did not not answer, of course!  If it is not a familiar number, that goes without saying.
One day, there will be an invention that is not complicated and time-consuming to operate that will rid us of this scourge of rudeness and greed.

This is one of several numbers which I receive calls on my unlisted cell phone. No one answers if you answer. They never leave a message. This is a nuisance.

Just got a call from 213-000-0001 on my personal cell that is on a do not call list.  Didn't answer.

Someone called my cell phone From my number 213-000-0001 I did not answer it.

Just got this number claiming to be dept. Of justice..left a 202 Ares code and called back no rings asked leave your name and number...yeah right not!

Just received a phone call from this number. Nobody answer. Really strange!!!

i recieved a call from this ## Nov 20. i did not answer, but googled the ## and found this website. apparently they are scamming for credit card info, based on other inputs. in other words, HACKERS. i do not give out my phone ##.

Just want to contribute some thoughts...

1. The Do Not Call Registry has NOTHING to do with these calls. Criminals who are cold-calling people in an attempt to steal their identities and money, are not concerned about such things.
2. They have likely harvested a list and are using this particular (artificial) number to call Virginia. Other numbers are probably being used for other states.
3. There are apps that allow you to see who is calling, even when a phony number is used. Our service provider allows each line to block a certain number of callers, but many newer devices allow you to block calls and texts as well. I am able to block up to 1,000 numbers just from my phone.

Possibly related: I know several companies have had their customer database and credit information compromised. The more reputable ones are offering assistance with identity theft protection at no cost. If you use a retailer or service who has been affected, they will likely inform you by mail. However, it couldn't hurt to follow-up with any company you frequent to confirm that your information is safe.

And by all means, start asking people to remove your credit/debit information from your accounts. It just makes things easier for thieves if they hack in. Taking the time to pull your card out on each transaction is worth it.

missed a call. no message. from several of the other posts ive seen i almost wish i had to hear some angry guy yell at me.
remember that when you download a "sketchy" app that asks for access to contacts that it may not only potentially sending your number to angry telemarketer man, but all of your contacts as well.

Just received a call from tho number on my Verizon cell phone. I have a 434 area code in Virginia.
I didn't answer, hit decline to send straight to voicemail.  I wonder what the connection is between all of us (other than VA)?

Just had a call from this number. Seems like the exact same recording I have received in the past. I am on the do not call list and still get these calls. I am extremely tired of it and I have started reporting these numbers every time they call. If they want to take a few minutes to call me and try to screw me then I can do the same for them.

Just got a call from this number and no one was on the other end. So tired of these annoying calls.
My number is for me and my friends and family STOP Calling I am on the do not call list!

I answered the call ?..they said they were "Card Member Services"  and were working through Eperian to lower my credit card rates.  They had more information than I thought they should?was scary.  They started one credit card number ?.wanted me to finish so they could start the process.   I questioned this and said I was going to call Experian?then they asked what my education was?.and again asked?only this time they used the "f" bomb.  I hung up.

Is there anything anyone can do about this.  I do not like that they even had partial information.  Scary?.

Just got this call about 5 minutes ago, I'm also a 703 area code and wish I had answered the call after reading all of this.

Just got a call from this number once I told the guy I had Identity theft protection he hung up. Tried to say he was from the Card member services.

Just got a call from this number on my cell phone (Nov. 12, 2013).  Didn't answer because I was driving.  No message left.  Why can't the phone company cancel the service of these companies?  Doesn't it know who they are?

I received 2 calls today from this number on my personal cell phone, and did not answer since it was an unknown number to me.  Very persistent, called at least 3 times today starting at 8am!! I am so sick of these types of calls.  Apparently the Do Not Call Registry does not work!

I got a call from this number 11/9, 5:30pm EST.  It had an automated message about "lowering my interest rate" and I stayed on the line to ask them not to call me anymore.  I ended up being sexually harassed, a male voice asked me if I had "anything between [my] legs".  Disgusting.  Tried calling back, no luck.  Any idea who this is?  He had an Asian or Indian accent.
