I have been receiving calls from this number several times per day for the last 5 months. They don't leave a message on my machine and I get a recorded offer of carpet cleaning services when I do answer. I finally had enough today when I was frantically trying to finish a project for work. I called my local police department and got them to take an incident report although they said there was nothing they can do. With the incident report, I called my local phone company's annoyance call number and got them to put a trap on my phone. The phone company won't do this without a police report number. The trap will record the source of all incoming phone calls for 15 days. I will record when the annoying calls come in and report them back to the phone company. They will take action, I suppose file charges, against the source owner of the phone line. I also located their phone service provider and complained to that company by email. They responded and said they would take action against the source.

Wow!!  Sure happy I found this.  I just answered a call from an 'out of area' number.  I get so many of them a day I finally answered one.  I pressed the #1 option to talk to an operator and she answered with the name Best Carpet Cleaning.  Same outcome, when requested to be taken off the list I was hung up on.  I have reported this.  I hope something comes out of our efforts.

Thanks!

After dozens of cold-calls from a company offering ?carpet cleaning? over the past year, I became frustrated, and invited the company to come out. My goal to find out who the company really is. They had been using false telephone numbers, refused requests to take me off their list, and reports to the do not call list had been ineffective. They've called me on my cellphone as well as home phone number, and several friends have reported similar calls.

Well, after a week of eager anticipation, they turned up to clean my carpets. Dodgy looking guy with a strong accent driving a white unlabeled van. I act confused at first and ask, 'which company is he from. Does he have a business card? He pulls out a receipt with a similar 888 number to the one I reported last. - The name across the top of the receipt is now "Daniel Carpet Cleaning" - No address.

I explain to him that I am annoyed at the cold-calling and he has clearly seen this before.  He turns away to walk back into the car.

As he is doing this, I start noting down license plate number, and he turns to confront me. He asks me what I am doing. He gets angry, says this is his personal vehicle, says I should take it up with the company. He then threatens me that he knows where I live.

I calm him down and ask if he's worried about his immigration status. I say I have nothing against him personally, but I want to report his company. He says he's not worried about his immigration status. He pulls out an Israeli passport and shows me his visa. I note the name on it.

He says he is just doing the rounds. His boss is in Los Angeles and calls him with addresses. He has my address written on a yellow legal pad with a handful of others.

I say, 'look, if you don't want me to report you, give me the number of your boss'. He refuses, threatens me again, that I can report him, but if I do, 'remember that I am not an american, I am some crazy Israeli. I know where you live'. He gets in the van and leaves.

I filed a report with the police, and they know have a case open. - Clearly these guys aren't in it for the carpet cleaning. There's more going on. But I'm not sure what.

Well, after numerous complaints to them and donotcall registery, I gave in and have booked an appointment to have my carpets cleaned between 2-4pm next Tuesday. I figure I'll tell them in person to SOD OFF!

recorded message starts "Alison from local carpet cleaning company..." and pitches a carpet cleaning special.  End of message says "press 8 to be removed" or "press 1 to schedule an appointment".  The number they are calling is on the federal DNC list, and I receive about 3 of these calls per week always between 2pm and 3pm PST.  Pressing 8 does not result in removal from the call list, and pressing 1 to ask for removal the operator just hangs up on you.  The recorded message does not give a company name, and the operator says the company is "Best Carpet Cleaning"; other online sources identify the company as "A1 Carpet Cleaning".

I've gotten about 6 of these calls w/the same M.O., pre-recorded message promoting carpet cleaning services, press 1 to talk to rep., press 8 t/b removed. Pressing 8 just disconnects the call. When I pressed 1, a young woman answered "Best Carpet Cleaning", I asked to whom I was speaking and she replied "Donnie", I asked if they serviced my area and she said they do, I asked for their local phone number and she immediately hung up. No real business operates like this, it must be a credit card # phishing scam or something similar.

Have been getting the same recorded calls from Allison Carpet Cleaning for months.  As noted by others, if one presses #6 or #8 as noted to take one off the list, the line is disconnected.  I press one to talk to a live person, and ask for a phone number.  The number I was given was 888-271-6000.  Then, may I suggest that those also getting these calls google the "Do Not Call" Registry to file a complaint.  This only takes one minute and only requires the phone number and/or the name of the company.  They are in violation, and I believe if we can get law enforcement to do their job here, it is a $11,000 per call fine.

I too have been getting these annoying calls, with all the same responses. This evening when they called, I tried to get a return phone number to call them on: (800)568-5980 -- it was a fake (of course) and rang to another business. I looked up the street they said they were on, in the city I live in -- it of course does not exist.

I too suspect this is a scam of sorts, and I wonder who we can alert. Any ideas????

Asking them to put me on the do not call list does nothing.

I've received multiple calls from "best carpet cleaning", easily eight or ten, and finally started trying to talk to someone and find out who they are. No matter how friendly and interested in a cleaning I sounded, as soon as I asked for their phone number they'd hang up quickly. Once, even asking what city they were in caused the caller to hang up. I actually started to wonder if there was some kind of criminal scam going on, over and above just violating donotcall agreements. By the way, hitting "8" to be removed from the list does nothing.

I've just had my second call from "Best Cleaning" and am happy to have found this site.  This has got to be a huge scam - they may not even be cleaning carpets, just trying to get credit card numbers from people or something like that.  The first call, I mentioned I was on the DNC list and the lady immediately hung up.  The second call (this evening), I tried to talk to the lady and didn't get too far - asked if she was going to hang up on me and she said "why shouldn't I?" and then did.  Anyone selling a real product will try to keep you on the phone, not hang up on you.  I've reported both calls to the DNC but found two different reporting websites:  www.donotcall.gov and www.fcc.gov/cgb/donotcall.  They both look legit but am wondering if they go into different databases and why.

The number they called from was clearly spoofed as the prefix was 555 and said "Dir Assist CA".

Am wondering what happened to the two previous posters that said they were arranging for appointments - did they get knocked off by "Best Carpet"?  Would love to hear if anyone actually showed up for an appointment.

That's the number for Best Carpet.  They call me all the time even though I am on the Do Not Call Registry.  Do this: call them -- at least once a week -- with a fake name and address and book a cleaning at a fictious address!  Maybe they'll learn their lesson!

The site http://www.carpetcleaningla.com lists 800-661-0888 as their contact number and it sounded like one of the women who answer 888-279-6050.  I asked if it was "Best Carpet" and she said yes.  I hung up.

If you go to www.netsol.com and select "WhoIs" it shows who registered websites, but unfortunately this business is hiding behind the actual host of the domain name so there is no direct address/phone number for whoever is actually doing the calling.  I called ecommerce.com and they said they can't give out the direct info without a court order.

I got a call from 213-221-1021, it was a recording.  I found this site and I called some of the 888 numbers that Steve posted.  I used the *67 on my phone so that they would not know who it was that was calling them.  I kept asking them where they were located.  Using up their 888 time on the phone costs them $$$$.  I also reported them on the D0 NOT CALL website.

May I suggest taking a radical move, say a threat to them that would basically force them to reveal themselves to the authorities if they were to file.  I know it's risky but it would expose them.

They are calling here every day. I am also on the don't call list since Sept 2003 (just renewed, good to 2012). I called the 888 number back to try to get some information and it is always a young female. Apparently they have a boiler room operation and use several employees to answer. If I tell them to take me off their list, I get hung up on, promptly. If I try to get information, I can also get hung up on, but some will talk to you a little. The last two said that this is a franchise and that they have several locations, one in Los Angeles area. One just gave me a "Los Angeles" number, 888-279-9099

Spoke to Nancy there today (after they hung up on my 10 times)  She confirmed all the above mentioned addresses and also provided 263 No Enid Ave, Covina CA.  She said the manager is a "David Grant", but gave me a disconnected number for him of 818-340-1438.  Of course this number does

The Next Time I called them I spoke with George who said they were at 1041 Smith ST Brooklyn, NY.  He said their names was "Best Carpet".

On the next call, I suggest you do what I am going to do - book the service, and get full information from the service that shoes up.

Best Carpet Cleaning.  This is about the 10th call to me, despite the Do Not Call list and someone who previously said they'd remove me.

These guys need to be tracked down and fined.

I'm so over this - also on the do not call list but have been hounded again lately, now by this carpet cleaning recording, 213-221-1021. I think this is the worst kind because it ties up your line and you can't get through to anyone to stop it  - i needed to make a phone call but couldn't because it was going on and on. When i work from hom this is a huge nuisance - i can't believe these companies get away with doing this to people, it's total harrassment. Who do i report them to?
