I've got two calls from this number for past 3days. I finally asnwered it this morning when I was at school, and the guy (sounded like a non English speaker) told me that I have a bill to pay for LA Times which I think was $39.99. I've already paied all my bills to stop ordering LA Times last month, so I knew that he was lying. When I told him that I'm already done with LA Times, he claimed many times that he is not a "money-taker." But he still continued asking for my credit numbers and some other personal information.
He hanged up after all, because I was keep telling him that I totally could not understand his English. lol

I recommend you all to just ignore the call, or block the number.

I have been receiving calls from this number at least twice a day for the last two weeks.  I get a voicemail that has a man's voice and only the last 4 numbers of the phone number... automated... not even a real person.  I called the number back to see what it was and I got an automated message from the LA Times.  About 3 weeks ago, I got a call from a telemarketer who asked me to increase my service from "Sunday only" to "daily" and since I adamantly declined to increase my service on the phone.  I told her I don't have time to read it during the week and she said that I should donate my weekly papers to a local doctors office, school or church.  What part of "I don't have time" don't they understand. I'm now getting the LA Times every day and these annoying phone calls.  I'm currently in the process of drafting a "nice" letter to the LA Times corporate office to extend my sincere annoyance at their tactics of trying to increase the paper's circulation while increasing their client's blood pressure.  I am also going to cancel my "Sunday only" delivery as well. Way to go LA Times marketing team!

Just try and cancel the Times. They won't let you. They just keep going on about options, and other bs, and won't cancel. They refuse to put a supervisor on. They just keep d*cking around.

And when you finally do cancel, they'll start hounding you for money they say you owe within a week, I kid you not. Just went through it, and am researching what agency, City Attorney or ?, to report this to.

Don't get involved with the LA times or OC Register, we bought one of these newspapers sunday only, and got billed for full weeks, and it was a nightmare to get it corrected, they will send your invoice to collections, for like a total bill of $40.00 or something. their customer service is horrible, and they could care less about fixing the probelm. I have never read their newspapers since, and only read my news online now. No wonder their industry is dying.

The LA Times have an automated system that repeatedly calls random numbers.
It called me 5 times this week!
Check out this website:

Is this grounds for a class action law suit?
I hope so!

I get calls from the same number.  I was looking to sign up with the Times and was looking for cheaper dealers.  I started to sign up with a company that offered it half price of what the actual Times webpage offered it.  I didn't go through with the transaction because it seemed shady.  I'm willing to bet it is this "dealer" making these calls - not the actual LA Times.

It's the LA Times. I cancelled my subscription and someone named Mike called me from this number. He offered to sign me up at 50% discount; I said no thanks. How about the weekend paper for just 18c? I still said no thanks. Then he started to mention that it's got all these coupons and I started to politely decline and that's when the BASTARD hang up on me. He's got some nerve.... what a bad loser! Bet he never played any sport in school (if he even went to school at all)... ok, I am pissed and I guess I shouldn't let him ruin my day.
Good day y'all.

Times, not only it took me forever to cancel the subscription, but they wouldn't stop calling from these 1-800 or private or this 213 numbers....i actually had to file a complaint on Better Business Bureau. I found this page because LA Times has been calling me every day, multiple times a day.  I only subscribed originally because some kid trying to fundraise came to door.   A huge mistake - I cannot get them to leave me alone.  I did not renew when my original subscription expired and they seriously called me daily for weeks begging me to renew - which I did.  The paper goes right in the garbage for me because I read the NY Times. They continued to send me the paper even though the subscription expired and they did not have an active credit card on file.  When the daily phone calls began, I called and made it very clear I did not want the paper, and don't want the phone calls.  They said I had a balance of just over $3.  I said - for what?  I didn't authorize renewal, I paid in full for my last subscription, you have my address - I've received no bill, no explanation.  The service rep said she'd clear my account and I owed nothing.  Well, then I get a call two days later - threatening, angry, intimidating guy literally harassing me for not paying this $3.  I'm telling you, this phone call was frightening.  I called LAT customer service to complain - very sorry, etc. You'll never get a call again.  Got another call that day.  I call LAT customer service AGAIN - and again, so sorry, you owe nothing, you'll never get a call again.  They said if I get another phone call from LAT to call the police!  Well, guess what, got another call again first business day later.  I HATE THE LA TIMES!!!

Receive calls from this number, often it's a recording, the rest of the time it's a live person...shocking, I know.  They are usually rude, and when I do accidentally answer, I am vague with them until they get frustrated and hang up... The rest of the time I ignore the call.  Annoying? YES!!!  I am on the verge of changing my number... but whatever!  Here's a tip from my old buddy Seinfeld, if you do manage to get a live person who is hard to understand or just plain rude, tell them, "It's not really a good time, can I have your home number and I'll call you back later"...Hahaha, it's sure to tick them off.

I cannot believe these bastards are still calling me.  Got the Times for a minute, attempted to cancel, got the same run-around horsesh*t that you guys got.  I was told this first time that I had an outstanding bill for $39.99 (which I didn't), but - being a decent humanist citizen - I paid it.  Got another 50 calls (literally) a SINGLE WEEK LATER, demanding more money.  I talked to customer service.  They explained that my request to cancel had "somehow not gotten through to them (customer service)" but had instead been sent to billing.  Billing, they explained, does not handle cancellations.  In order to correctly cancel, I was told, I would have to pay a one-time fee of $4.99.  Are you kidding me?!  This is a SCAM!  Like a fool, I paid it.  And they laid off for about... a week.  Then the calls started again, this time from our infamous 213-237-3737.  I ignored as long as I could, answered a few times and screamed violent threats at the recordings, all to no avail.  They're going on the blocked call list, but honestly, I'm ready to file suit against this piece of SH*T scam f*cking "business."  I don't even live in LA anymore!  And they still call!  It's not even possible for me to get your damn paper anymore!  LAY THE F*CK OFF!
