Person called from 213.283.6417 5x already today. The 4th time, it was a fake sounding high pitched voice asking for John Goodman. ???? I told them not to call back and we were not interested.

Received multiple calls today, pickup the phone and no one at the other end. Often wonder if its my mother in law, :-) but again 213-283-6417 is not her number.
These are phishing calls - watchout, once they confirm your telephone number and email address, they sell the contact details, keep calling you and sending spam emails.

Don't worry everyone, it's just the NSA keeping tabs on everyone...just answer them so you're file isn't flagged for additional scrutiny.

So now it's the next day and the same guy calls back asking for a different IT person. And says now that he's not calling from Bell Communications, but Bell Canada.

Indian-accented guy says his name is Shailesh Pwar. When I asked for his company's name, he said it was Bell Communication(s). Ummm, yeah.

This call has come in for two days now. The gentleman said that he had dropped the owner an email and was calling to follow up. Something about "fox base solutions" or "fox biz solutions" I couldn't make out the middle word. The owner has no knowledge of this email or correspondence. I told the caller yesterday and today that if he wanted to talk to the owner, I could help him if he would just tell me what he is calling about and in turn I could expedite the process. He said he would call back. What a hassle.

I got the same message just now, but from a woman. She said she wanted to be connected to the CEO and I said our phone system does not allow that and that I could take a message and pass it on. She then said she is calling from FEDEX and has a package for him and his email address is not working. She then hung up on me abruptly after confirming the email address (which was correct from the get-go, btw).

Rude indian accent! They asked for our IT mgr, saying "just tell him it's Randy he'll know." I say I need to know what company or you won't get thru. He wouldn't so I told him to go back to his country and hung up. Wish these fleas would all be exterminated!

I have had 9 MISSED CALLS on my phone from 001 213 283 6417, most of which were one after the other, whilst I was away from my desk in meetings. I tried to call back but no response so thought I'd Google the number to see who it was as I didn?t recognise it.
Sounds like it was a good job I missed them to save me wasting time. They'll probably call again going by the persistence of today?s number of calls, but glad I checked on here to read the comments.
Thanks for the heads up everyone.

4 calls just this morning (2/13/13)! I keep hitting decline. It's almost worth having my company block the number, in fact I'll tell IT now haha, thanks for the heads up.

I just received a call from this number. The caller had a very thick accent that made it very difficult to understand him. He gave one of our VPs as a reference, and stated that he was doing research for a college project. Hope he gets a good grade, since the call was suspicious from the outset, so I gave him completely bogus information. :-)

I received a call from 213-283-6417, they comfirmed my name and place of employment, and then they hung-up immediately.
Very strange!

Sales rep "Sherry Larson" called for one of our VPs about salesforce.com webinar. I gave her our customer service email. Definitely SPAM!!

Received a call this morning (4th Feb 2013) from 213-283-6417.Supposedly, he "Wanted to confirm our company address" and said they had a package from FEDEX for delivery, just wanted to confirm address. When I asked for tracking number, he did not have it.
Definitely Indian middle-class English accent, perhaps calling from a call center. Its a Magic Jack number. I tried calling back but obviously no reply.
Don't know his intention of calling. Sounded very strange and am suspicious.

These calls are coming from a call center in India. They email whitepapers from various companies trying to sell you something. They are getting around the SPAM laws by getting you on the phone and talking so fast in their second language (English) that you tell them to send you the email just to get rid of them. I get at least 10 calls per week from them, I just let my spam filter delete their emails.

Call us everyday looking for VP names etc wanting to send some microsoft information.
| Rachel 2012-11-02 21:14:10 Unknown |
I just did. Said they were from "Microsoft Seattle" and wanted to talk about records management. I think they just did a blind phone call to my firm, and acted like they'd talked to someone from our organization. I'm pretty sure my human resources manager would have given me a heads up if Microsoft was actually calling me. It wasn't a Seattle area code either.
