The fake survey/free cruise scam is also being done now by some crooks calling themselves Political Opinions of America. They have gone so far as to create their own fake website!
Do not press any number to be taken off their list because you are only confirming that your phone number is real.
Do not go to their website with that same request because you are only confirming that your phone number and your name are real.
Hang up on them and add them to your phone's address book under SCAM. Block them if you can.
Immediately report them to www.donotcall.gov. They cannot do anything about these crooks if they don't know about it (especially since these crooks are using dozens of different phone numbers).

Please immediately report each and every one of these illegal robo scam calls that you receive to www.donotcall.gov.
You can gripe that it doesn't work, but they cannot do anything about it unless and until we report it!
P.S. Please remember that the survey is fake and the cruise is not free. Don't give these crooks any of your personal information!

Got the same call from this number as described above. Decided to sit thru the process and see what happened. After chatting for awhile about the fabulous free cruise, the customer service rep wanted to transfer me over to pay that $59 port tax described above. I asked if he could give me a number to call back after I researched his company and verified the offer, since I didn't wish to supply my CC number to just any random person who called my phone. After a few back-and-forth's, he took offense at my calling his company 'random' and hung up. =) At least no one else was getting scammed by that particular CS guy while I was taking up his time.

I suggest you all get in touch with your congressman and senator and havwe them do something. This needs to go higher up than the FCC or donotcall.

Received a call from this number at 4:30pm on Dec 20, 2011 - recorded message about "This is not a sales call, you have been selected for a survey" and as soon as I heard that, I hung up.
I only answered the phone because I didn't have my glasses on and couldn't see the # on the caller ID - thought it might be a family member calling. Normally, if I see it's a number I don't recognize, I don't answer.
I've been on the nat'l "Do not call" list for many years and updated it within past six months. Why are our tax dollars going to this kind of program if they don't do anything about it???
I reported the # on the nat'l "Do not call" via complaint and encourage everyone else to do so.

Sorry to hear that your local phone co. doesn't block L.D. numbers. That's a real shame. Maybe if you list your City & State all the other people who come on here, along with yourself can call your local phone company and request it as a service.
We have Qwest which I think recently changed their name to Century Link. I can block ANYthing with it. An entire Area Code of anywhere in the entire U.S, an Are Code and the first 3 digits and xxxx, any 800 numbers, whatever. Through the Phone Company, it's done right into our handset, ourselves. I think it allows 25 numbers to be Blocked. And then the new Phone we got, we can Block another 20 or 30 numbers on that too. Then with Silencing the Cell phone from Scammers, we've got all the bases covered.
Really, come back on here and put in your City & State. Then ask anyone else who comes to this site fron your area, to ALL call your Local phone company and ask them to please start a Call Blocking service. For a nominal fee, (I've heard that some phone companies charge $3, 4 or 5 bucks a month for it, maybe you can eventually get it too, as I think there will be more & more & more Scammer calls as time goes by, not less! Or who knows, maybe someone else who lives in your area, knows of something else that works there.
Good luck to you!

I have received three calls from them (third time, they called with a Chicago area code - which is where I live). I actually go through the prompts and take them for a ride. I love to goose 'em! Asked for credit card for port fees.
Easy rule about these calls -- Never give your credit card to someone who calls YOU.
| Collection Agency 2012-01-04 02:40:27 Unknown |
This is a collection agency trying to find you.
Report each time they call.
http://www.DONOTCALL.gov
Under complains, it's quick and easy. Takes 2 minutes.
Do it every time they call.
1. Never talk to any collection agency or debt help company over a telephone.
2. Never engage with them or admit who you are.
3. Always ask for everything in writing via mail.
4. Always respond to letters with a "FDCPA debt validation letter" sent via certified mail with return receipt.
5. Never lose hope. There's no money in heaven, you will be all right.
First step is to report the company that called to: http://DONOTCALL.gov
If you need help with debt collectors, go to --- http://www.budhibbs.com/ --- it's a great site that deals with debt collectors and debt validation. You will learn a lot about your rights there.

Calls my house regularly. No messages left, no one there when I answer. I guess they just like to annoy me with the sound of my phone ringing off the hook.
Also, people, please stop blaming the Do Not Call Registry...the Do Not Call list DOES WORK for numbers THAT AREN'T SPOOFED (wiki: Caller ID spoofing causes the telephone network to display a number on the recipient's Caller ID display that is not that of the actual originating station. Caller ID spoofing can make a call appear to have come from any phone number the caller wishes)!!!!! Believe me - I put my old number on the list when it first came out years ago. Got a new number recently and completely forgot about the DNC registry. I was getting 20 calls a day from telemarketers. I registered on there, and they stopped. But the registry HAS NO CONTROL over anything that originates outside of the US. That's why you still receive calls when you're on the registry. You want them to do something about it? Let them know who is calling you... they can't do anything if they don't know about it. The same site you use to register for the DNC list is the same one you can report numbers that call you to... https://complaints.donotcall.gov/

This is a scam. These people are making illegal robocalls. They are telemarketers for a cruise company selling a not-so-free cruise. If you fall for this scam, you will never be able to book the dates that you want and your money is not refundable!
If by some miracle you actually do take the cruise, you will have even more non-refundable "fees" added on to your tally after you take a short cruise on a horrible boat (you can't even call it a ship).
These scammers are hiding behind a fake company name and are calling themselves "ESG Research." There are a couple of companies whose real names are very similar to this who are being hurt by these crooks.
They think that they can get around the do not call list by hiding behind a survey. It is a scam. Do not fall for it.
They are spoofing the Caller ID information that we see. If they really were a legitimate company, they would not be calling from so many different numbers from all over the country in an effort to hide their identity (while stealing yours)!
We all have to report each and every scam call that we receive to www.donotcall.gov.

This is a scam. Don't return the call because you will find that the number you called is non-existent. It is a company who is trying to sell you space on a cruise line. Report them to the Do Not Call line.

I'm a litle leary about stangers. I don't want to rock the boat. If strangers can get information on us that we are sure is private what else can they get? I wrote a post about this just a few minutes ago. If I don't know the number I don't answer. If there was not message left I ignore it. Just delete these people. No matter how many times they call, let it ring. Find another avenue to report them. Are you on the no call list? Get on the FCC website. Hope you can find help. Don't stress out on this stuff not worth your well-being. Good luck!
