So glad I found this before I replied to the email. Seemed a bit fishy when they were offering me $800 a week with a chance to bump it up to $1000. The name they are using is Dave Muller, an artist. I even found the guy on Google+.
For two seconds I thought I had hit the jackpot. Too good to be true, as always, on Craigslist.

I received the same response from a posting I applied for on Craigslist for an admin.  Said his name was Tyler Watson, a painter, that I got the job (I didn't even say I accepted his offer).  All the same info you posted was in his email to me.  I to purchase office supplies today, he is calling me on Monday.  I will ask his for the names of his galleries that you said to and see if he responds.  Said he is currently in San Francisco, wished he could have met with me know, but won't be back in NY until December.... and I'm going to work for someone I haven't even met?????  Oh, and he wanted information like my bank a/c # for payroll or Money Transfer, I think not.  SCAM, SCAM,SCAM.......Thank you for your posting.

I applied for a Program Manager position on Craigslist, paying 300 weekly. I received a 2,300 dollars check. Instructing me to cash and then purchase 4 green dot money cards. I cashed the check and sent the 4 green dot cards at 500.00 dollars apiece to Matthew Coleman. I thought I did a good job and would be offered a permanent position. . Now I see its a scam... I believe I'm dealing with the same guy. He's going by Tyler Watson and says he has a wife Kimberly Watson and they are in the business of art dealing. I replied to a Craigslist post needing an administrative assistant/data entry/customer service person. He informed me via email that I received the job and gave me instructions. He fedex-ed a check for $2500 to me telling me to buy specific office supplies, artwork, etc.  Luckily I realized it was scam. He's using different numbers now. The numbers he gave me were 213-342-8394 and 408-800-6175. As soon as I asked him to send me the names of his galleries he stopped responding.

I just sent my résumé to a job posting that I saw on Craig's list about an administration job. I received the exact same email that everyone else has posted on here. Luckily this happened today so I didn't send any other contact information of mine besides what's on my résumé. He is going by Anthony Benton and says he is in Australia right now. What is exactly going on with the FBI investigation?

Every one I received the same message he went by the of Christopher Taylor. When my sister told me to goggle him because it might be a scam. Turn out to be true. So I'm glad that I did not send him any information . thanks everyone

Awaiting a call and a check......

got the exact same msg. but I was only offered 250.00!! ha Didn't fall for it.

The check gets deposited in the account, the person makes transfers via Western Union. By the time the bank figures out the account is fake (2-4 days), the transfers are complete and the bank takes the amount of the check back out of the account. The guy has the cash of the transfers and you owe the bank that amount.

What happened with the check? what was the outcome of all of it

I also received emails from Dustin Eugine.  I applied for a position in Tulsa, OK.  Two positions actually.  I received a check for almost $3000 and mine came from Sempra Generations, a Fortune 500 company, in California.  He called me from the same 213 number and it sounded like a bunch of babies crying in the background.  I am not longer answering his calls because of finding these messages.

I received a call from the 213-437-6057 number didn't answer because I didn't know who it was they must've forgot to hang up the line because in the background I could hear them talking and a baby cooing or playing with the phone, it lasted for about almost 2 minutes. That's when I decided to come look the number up online and I get this site and read everything same ol story.This time he's going by Allen Eustace! Unbelieveable I cannot believe that this is all people have to do. I told him I don't have a bank account but that I would deposit the check for him into his account. And that I needed to be paid by money order, or western union wire transfer, lets just say I haven't heard from Allen again! I am going to report it to the bank I have the check and everything this is completely insane!!!

He got me with a receptionist position in Athens, OH, but I got him right back. The name that he used was Dustin Eugine. His numbers were listed as:

He send me off an email stating that I was going to receive my pay and other money for shopping for him and I was to email him as soon as I received it so he could give me further instructions. When I received the check I immediately was suspicious because it was in my name from a person other than Mr. Eugine with a printed note inside letting me know that he instructed her to send me the money that she owed "the company". Unfortunatly for him I an not stupid, and he apparently does not know that as a former Administrative Assistant to two different CEO's, I know how to cover my butt, so I emailed him back:

I am writing to let you know that I received a check for you today in the sum of $2500. American from a Ms. Kristen Freehauf. She was adamant that I should only contact you via email which to me was rather odd. As is standard with the other positions that I have held as an Administrative Assistant, I put in a call to the bank from which the check was drawn to assure its validity because of the amount exceeding $100. As I am not paying the check verification that they would like to charge me I would like to know how you would like me to proceed. I await your reply.

He called me back 1h & 40m later from what sounded like a coffee shop and a number that I did not have (213) 437-6057 out of LA, CA. Very thick accent and introduced himself as Dustin. He informed me he received my email and that I should deposit it into my account so I could get my pay out of it and send the part to him and do some shopping for him. I told him that I did not have an account and would not be opening one either. He asked me why not and I told him that no where in the ad that I answered for an Office Receptionist did it state that I had to have any kind of bank account. I then asked him where he wanted me to forward the check to and he angrily told me to "tear the damn thing up and throw it in the fu**ing trash for all he cared". I found it kind of amusing

I applied for a Front Desk/Receptionist job and I got the very same email. WORD FOR WORD. Only he said he would be back in the USA June 2013 and he goes by John Woods. I was kind of suspicious, (because this is nowhere near front desk/receptionist work) and forwarded it to my dad to see what he thought, and he found this website and told me NOT to reply and give him none of my information. Only problem is I attached my resume to the Craigslist ad. So now he has my name, address, phone number and email. My dad told me if I get any kind of check to either, rip it up, or take it to the police with the emails I received. I did reply to him and told him not contact me anymore because I know this is a scam. Hope I don't receive any checks from him.

I responded  to the same ad on Craigslist for file clerk/receptionist  & I too received the exact same email but from Louis Bertram. There was also 2 different phone #`s. One was an out of country # so I called the other - 707-466-4143 . The 1st time I called I got a recording & left a message so I called BACK & talked to a man. I asked if he was Louis Bertram & that I was responding to the email. He wanted to know if I could call him back in a couple      of hrs. Well I haven't called back . I googled his name & found this discussion. This has been very helpful in avouding getting taken advantage of. Thanks to the person who started this.

This is a Big SCAM!  This guy is sending fraudlent checks from my company to the people applying for these jobs on line.   I have people calling me every day to verify checks - they are FRAUD.  He is trying to get you to cash the checks & send him the over payment.  He is also collecting your personal information in order to defraud you just like he has my company.   Don't be fooled!!!  Call the police and file a report.

Just an FYI he is now using the name Richard Gray. Just got an email response from him today that was the same as above from an ad I applied to on Craigslist The scary part is that there really is a Richard Gray art dealer so I am glad I found this website. His email screamed SCAM.
