Possible scam.  Can barely understand male caller.  Can hear other phone conversations in the background.  Tells me I have been chosen to receive a customer appreciation card ($200) from 1000's of marketing departments.  Caller could not answer my questions.  Hung up.  Used LCR to get the #

What amazes me about stuff people write regarding criminal enterprises such as evidenced by this number is that people complain and do nothing.  You have seen my prior e-mails.  Not one person who writes on this honest blog has advised that they have done anything, despite my suggestions about what they should do.  I gave phone numbers, organizations (Federal and State of Florida) about where and how to complain.  I believe  that the FTC may be moving against this phone number; although as I stated before despite the fact it is an LA wireless area number, I believe the people behind this may be in Canada, Ontario. I got on this blog accidentally by just typing in the telephone number now saved on my caller ID. And I saw a bunch of people complaining about it and in essence "oh my God, what do I do".  Well, I state again, file a complaint with the FTC, FBI, state AG - whatever.  I've done the work for all of you complainers - the Florida AG now has my complaint and so does the FTC.  So, if you want to do something besides just blog about "hey I received this phony call" than do the following - the more complaints the more likely a Federal investigation. Thus, write the AG of Florida at "The Capitol, Tallahassee,FL 32301" and refer to this 213 telephone number and that you understand a complaint has been filed and you would like to also complain. Complaining on this blog accomplishes nothing.  Blogs usually accomplish nothing in any case.

Unfortunatly, you can get a card to go through without a CVV code if you have the right address. It only takes one match out of three to process a credit card. Luckily for my customers, we run an honest business and only charge for our services that are approved beforehand.

I have gotten calls from them for two consecutive days on my work number telling me they are with AT&T and need to mail out a package to me in regards to Tech Support.  The first time the guy got ugly with me because I told him I was not giving him any information that AT&T had my info because they were out last week.  He cut me off in mid sentence wanting to know what my name was and who my supervisor was. I asked for his name and a number where I could reach him at and he told me he was in an outbound call center that I could just call the main number to AT&T.  Then proceeded to ask for my info again.  I just hung up on him.

Today they call back and tell me the same thing.  This guy was not as ugly, he just repeated the same AT&T info and wanted me to verify my info.  I told him that we don't handle the tech support that it is handled through corporate.  Had to repeat that twice to him and then he just hung up on me.

Ever since getting a new number connected with my cable service, I began to get calls from numerous unknowns, continuously throughout each day. I didn't recognize the numbers so I'd take note from the caller ID and not answer. After diligent research on all unknown numbers I've learned every last one of them are scams or telemarketers, at which I began to answer the calls in an automated voice stating, "The number you have dialed is either temporarily out of service or has been disconnected. If you believe you have received this message in error, please hang up and try your call again." Needless to say, the calls have greatly subsided :-). When I receive legitimate telemarketer calls of no interest to me, I answer, "Hello, (allowing them no time to begin speaking) Yes, yes, yes, please hold just one moment?" and I hang up. This seems to work really well too :-). I say, F'em all if they can't take a joke. A NOTE TO ALL - IF YOU DON'T WISH TO BE TAKEN FOR ALL YOU HAVE, REFRAIN FROM ONLINE AND ON PHONE BANKING, ORDERING, OR BUSINESS OF ANY KIND, USE OF YOUR CREDIT CARDS AND EVEN CHECKS, GO BACK TO CASH AND IN PERSON BUSINESS RELATIONS WHEREVER POSSIBLE, SHRED ALL DOCUMENTS WITH YOUR PHONE NUMBERS, ADDRESS, NAMES, CARD INFO, BANK INFO, SOCIAL SECURITY, DRIVER'S LICENCE, LICENSE PLATE NUMBER, POLICY NUMBERS, ETC. GET A SAFETY DEPOSIT BOX FOR DOCUMENTS YOU MUST KEEP, USE A P.O. BOX TO RECEIVE YOUR MAIL, HAVE A SEPARATE NUMBER FOR ALL BUSINESS AND PERSONAL, WHENEVER POSSIBLE, GET YOUR CREDIT REPORTS REGULARLY, IF YOU HAVEN'T SIGNED UP FOR THAT, GET YOUR FREE ANNUAL CREDIT REPORTS FROM EACH BUREAU WITH JUST A PHONE CALL. IF YOU FIND SOMEONE'S GOTTEN A HOLD OF YOUR SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBER, REPORT IT AND APPLY FOR A NEW ONE. RESPOND "OPT OUT" TO ALL SLIPS RECEIVED IN THE MAIL FROM CREDITORS IN REFERENCE TO PRIVACY. THIS IS THEIR NOTIFICATION TO YOU THAT THEY WILL SHARE YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION IF YOUR "OPT OUT" RESPONSE IS NOT RECEIVED. ON AND ON AND ON. PAY ATTENTION TO ALL. BE ALERT! Surely, you've heard the saying, "You can never be too careful."? Well, the time is here where that's no longer just a saying, it's the truth. Protect yourselves well. make it as difficult as you possibly can for today's scam artists / thiefs to live the good life off the negligence of the trusting. Although unfortunate, many of us cannot even be so trusting with our own family members.

These guys seem to be very harassing!  The guy with a strong Indian accent asked for my husband.  I replied that this was his wife, could I help.  He continually asked to speak with him and when would he be home.  He would not let me speak with his supervisor and at first refused to answer any of my questions, saying he'd call back in 30 minutes if I couldn't tell him when my husband would return.  Finally, he revealed... after moving to "another script"... that my husband had signed up for a $200 promotional card (UNTRUE) using his MasterCard ending in -xxxx (really UNTRUE) that he hadn't received yet (about the only true statement b/c the others weren't true).
He finally hung up on me because I continued to ask to speak to his supervisor and refused to tell him anything.
I tried calling the number back and got a recording in a pleasant American-English speaking woman's voice saying "...calling back, if you do not wish to receive any more promotional calls... blah, blah, blah... press 1". So I did.

When I answered the call there was a female with a thick Indian accent on the line.  She went into this whole script about how my number was selected and "they" would be sending me a $200 voucher (she didn't say who "they" were).  Normally I'd hang up, but I was in a good mood and thought I'd play with her head a little and try to sell her something instead.  Before I could do that, the call started sounding fishy, so I stayed on to see if I could get any information worth reporting.

It seemed like she was fishing for information because she kept explaining the voucher again and again, offering a little more detail each time, almost like she was deciding what to say next based on my reaction to each piece of information.  Eventually she explained that I would get a voucher in the mail worth $200, $100 of which I could use at Walmart and $100 of which I could use for gas anywhere.  The voucher would be sent free of charge and all I would have to pay is $3.95 S&H upon receiving it.  She said the promotion was sponsored by Visa and Mastercard and asked if I used either of those cards (suspicious why two competing credit card companies would team up to give me $200 for no reason and broker the deal through some strange Indian telemarketer) First she needed to verify my information.  She read me my name, address, and telephone number and asked me to confirm (I did, figuring it wouldn't hurt since they had it anyway) then as a final piece of confirmation she needed me to tell her the expiration date of my Visa card.  That's where I hit the brakes.  I told her there was no way I would give any credit card information especially without knowing who was asking.  I asked for the name, number, and address of her company.  She responded that after I confirmed my identity with the card's expiration date, she could transfer me to a verification line that would tell me the name of the company she worked for.  She then proceeded to explain to me how nobody can use the expiration date of a credit card to get my money.  After several requests, she transferred me to the verification manager.  His name was supposedly David, ID#11474.  He also had a thick Indian accent.  He told me the name of the company was Financial Education of America and the website was www.fea.com.  He said that when I received my voucher in the mail it would have contact phone numbers and addresses of the company.  He then asked for my expiration date.  I said I wasn't interested, and then hung up.  They immediately called back, I picked up and hung up again.

Got a call from this number today.6pm EST. Indian sounding guy that said his name was Kevin Ross from Scotsdale, AZ (even though the caller ID was this California 213 #). Said if I gave him my cc info he'd mail out a $200 Walmart giftcard, although I swear he said $300 at first then $200 later (I either heard it wrong or he slipped).  After hearing his speech I started grilling him alittle and messing with him, acting like I didn't understand the questions and stuff. He was getting frustrated and kept saying "No!! It's the number across the FRONT of the card!"

Finally, I started asking him for a contact return # and a website to check out. He said "Well I can't give you that. The Verification Manager can only do that and he will need your cc info to do that." I kept saying "What is wrong with you?!?! It's just a website!! Just give me the web address!!!" He kept refusing and saying the same thing so I finally said "OK fine this call is over!" and hung up.

I rreceived a call today at 9:15 am saying that I have been selected to received a $200 Walmart give certificate and also 100 gas certificate. They say my only committment is to pay $3.99 for shipping and some body would deliver the package to my door. They then proceeded to give me my home address.
I asked them if somebody is going to deliver the package why can't I pay the person in cash. They say the company use to accept cash before but many person after receiving the package do not pay the charge so they stop receiving cash. They told me I have to pay with any PLASTIC, which can include a gift card but must have the master or visa logo on it. I told them I am not going to give my credit card information but that I will go out and buy a gift certificate for $3.99. They promise to call back tomorrow morning around the same time.

win 200 dollar gift card just give him the full number on the front of a card with visa or mastercard logo.  its a scam talked for an hour about it not being a scam. said any card with a zero balance is good. i believe they make the credit cards and use the old style card machine to purchase items in your name or the new pin number they give you for your gift card is the new number they will use on atms or something. not sure just sounds too complicated to be a legal free offer.

I live in California and just received a call from this number about 20 mins ago. A man with foreign accent was talking to me telling me that my phone number was eligible for free $200 gift card and that I had to verify my card details and send them shipping and handling. I hung up the phone. He called back immediately started to be rude and asking me why I hung up, a genuine sales person would never say that. Please give suggestions on how to end this scammers' calls.

I received a call from this company this evening.  The caller was a male, foreign, sounded like he was from India.  He was hard to understand.  He asked for me by first and last name.  He asked me if I remembered giving him my credit card for a service that I signed up for.  He said that the package for the $200 gift card never came to me because they had the wrong address. I said I never signed up for a service and I never gave them my credit card number.  He said the first 6 digits of my card number and said that they were trying to cancel the services that I signed up for so I wouldnt be charged.  I said I never signed up for any services and I receive calls all the time from people saying they were going to send me a $200 gas card and I simply say I'm not interested and hang up so I wanted to know how he got my credit card number.  He said that I go shopping at stores like walmart and target. I said yes but regardless he should have my cc number (which is actually my debit card number) He said he was going to give me a number to call and I would get a recording and I had to leave my credit card number on this recording and it would give me a confirmation cancellation number. I said no I don't want to leave my cc that I wanted to talk to a live person that could cancel this without me giving my whole cc number. He told me to hold on and never came back to the phone.  I waited for 20 minutes before hanging up and dialing star 69 to find out it was this 213-504-7092 number which brings me here.  I just recently changed my debit card number because I received a mysterias $3 and some change charge on my debit card from a number like this and when I called the number it was only a recording.  I reported it to bank and disputed it and they did an investigation and the charge was taken off.  Company reported it was charged in error and credited back.  Yes, these are all scams.  I just hope I don't have to go through the bull crap of having to change my card number again.  I'll be checking my bank account every day ready to dispute any mysterious charges.....These people suc_.  I'm thinking that they don't have my whole cc number and they were just trying to get it.  I used to work for in the accounting department of a company that processed cc charges and once you run the card there is a report of every transaction ran. It is supposed to be an accounting function to help you post the money received to the correct account and it only keeps part of the number not the entire number or pins or anyting. So I'm hoping maybe that is where they got the first 6 digits and they can't figure out the rest.
