Hi there,

Just had a call that l won holiday to Florida. They know all about me my address and some of the details from my card. But what they said that l have credit card and l don't acctualy.

When they ask for details from back of my card and l have refused to give them, they were quiet unhappy and they put the phone down on me.

Just wonder is it any law to stop this scams and disturbing peoples life and giving them some horrible false hopes.

Something strange happened the other day, I had another call from those guys telling me I've won a free holiday to Mexico. The phone rings, the message says I need to press 1 to claim the prize, so of course I press 1 to mess around with the guy and have some fun.

To wind him up this time I grabbed a pen and paper and quickly made up a 16 digit visa number (with an expiry date in 2015 just to make sure I couldn't accidentally give him a real number and mess some randoms day up) and when he said that couldn't possibly be my real card number I just kept repeating the number, until he got really really irritated.

So after a good half hour of messing him around like this I told him exactly what I thought of him and asked him why he was doing it? Didn't he wonder what his boss was doing with all this money made from credit card fraud? Maybe investing in heroin? Sex-trafficking? Kiddie-porn?

He got really really annoyed with me so I just asked him why he didn't hang up on me? "Because I'll be fired if I hang up on you" he said. I told him I had all day to mess with him if he didn't want to hang up on me. Then he got really, really, really angry.

"Where are you really?" I asked. "You aren't really in that office in Florida are you?" (I'd google mapped the company address he'd given me and then asked him to name the nearest big town)
"You know where I am you moth******er..." he said, "I'm in, I'm in your house!" I fell about laughing.
"Oh yeah, gonna come out and knife me up are you?" I say.
"No, I'm in the bathroom f****ng your wife"
"Any good is she?"
"No, she's a w***e, and I'm f****ng your daughter and mother too" he says. Woah.
"My daughters only two years old" I say. "That makes you a f****ng paedo, you like little boys too? How about my son" (I shocked myself with that one - how did such bad words come from my mouth)

After anther five minutes or so of increasingly angry, and pretty sick threats from the guy he calmed down, and asked me to hang up on him, again saying he'd be fired for hanging up on a 'customer'. I asked him what his boss would just fire him, or would he end up like the guys who rip his boss off when he's dealing in child-porno, presumably at the bottom of a river somewhere. At this point he cut me off and the call was passed to someone else.

This guy actually sounded like he was British, with a British-Asian accent. I asked him if he was going to threaten me too, and he told me I was paying to receive this call.
"Ha Ha, he pressed 1" he said to unknown persons in the background, who laughed. This worried me a little bit, so I politely told him to go f*** himself before hanging up myself.

I won't pretend I wasn't concerned here, I'd spent about 45 minutes on the phone and if by some trick of theirs I'd paid a premium rate then this was going to be expensive. It would explain why the guy wouldn't hang up on me, but not why he was so abusive, surely he'd want me to stay on the line, rather than try to get me to hang up by throwing every insult he could think of at me?

Thing is though, I gave the phone company a call to see if such a thing was really possible (who said it technically was, but they would be willing to refund any charges made to customers through such scams) and they checked my account to discover I haven't been charged anything to receive the call. Not a penny. I really don't understand therefore why they wanted to keep me on the line for so long.

I think next time they call (there will be a next time, they're always calling me) I'll ask if the guy is allowed to hang up on me, and when he says no I'll just leave the phone off the hook for a rest of the year.

__________

By the way, they said they were called "Four Vacation" claiming to be based in Orlando Florida with the web page fourvacation.com, I'm putting this here just in case anyone else in the intertubes gets a call from them and googles them out of curiosity. Although the website seems to have only been registered on August 31st and since taken down. I imagine they change their name every few days.

Hey there

My wife and i got this call as well. Although the number coming up when i pressed 1471 was 01789 9999 9999! Not sure what or where that is.

But again its a definite scam!!

He kept asking me to verify stuff and i told him verification was a 2 way thing and he said he would be fired if he gave me any details lol. I told him to give me the last 4 digits of my card if he had it there but he wouldn't (COULDN'T more like!). Said he'd get fired and that all the calls were recorded. I said in that case it'll be recorded that i had given him permission to give me the details and also informed him that to give the last 4 digits is perfectly legal (its displayed on receipts everywhere!) But he kinda stammered then said that he wasn;t going to twist my arm when they were giving me such a great deal, kind generous souls that they are.

He gave me CBholiday.com as a business and told me that they were a Disney affiliate but when i checked them out they weren't even listed on google!! The address is the same as for the Onceinalifetime site.I mean if you want to publicise your company and its ligit only an idiot wouldn;t put their site or allow their site on Google.

I mentioned this to him and he had no answer just said " I'm afraid sir you're gonna have to miss out on this fantastic trip and i'm going to havce to pass it on to the next family!" poor souls i hope they have a bit of wit!

Received call from Orlando yesterday (what a fool I have been) they talked about a free holiday and my name had come up through Visa/Mastercard. I had been looking for a holiday so this was just up my street and able to take 4 friends.  How wrong could I be.  Foolish me gave my details and they will be taking it out tomorrow.  Checked with my bank and the payment is there holding but no name was given of the company.  They are working as cbholiday.com also onceinalifetime.com the only thing that relates is the address in Florida the phone numbers vary. Will be getting on to my bank, watchdog and my local MP.

I got so sick of these people. My first call was from "Four Vacation" with the fake holiday thing. I was sceptical, but polite. My second call was from "Alan" but he wouldn't tell me what company he was from, so I refused to answer any questions - he hung up on me.

By the third phone call, I was fed up, so I decided to have myself some fun. When "Martin" phoned me, he asked for me by name - Mrs Parker. So I said, yes, that's me. He asked me for my first name. I said "Princess Leah" and offered to spell it for him. He then asked me for my date of birth. I said "1 January 1701. I'm the oldest woman in the world."

He hung up on me.

I am based in the UK. I got a call from someone with an East European accent from Four Vacation. They didn't use my name: went straight on to say that because I was a good Visa or Mastercard customer and always pay my bills on time I have won a two-week holiday to Mexico, Orlando and Daytona. I said I hadn't entered any competitions and he said that it was an automatic prize draw for all Visa and Mastercard customers who pay on time (now I know this wasn't true because I missed some payments this year ;-))

He went on to ask which I use - a Visa or a Mastercard. So I told him I would call him back and asked him to confirm the name of the company and give me a phone number. He became very agitated and asked me why I was sceptical. I told him I wasn't willing to give out personal information to someone who had rang me out of the blue. He repeated everything he'd already said about me being a good payer, but obviously I knew I wasn't a good payer!

I was insistent I was going to call back. It was very difficult to get off the phone - he spoke very quickly and rarely paused. In the end he gave me a web address (unasked for) and told me I should verify something on there (www.fourvacation.com) - I'm not sure what I was meant to verify as his accent was very strong and I didn't catch it. I said no, and asked again for a phone number, so he gave me 0208 150 3665. I ended up hanging up on him because he wouldn't shut up talking and he was very agitated, assuring me over and over he was genuine and that I would miss out if I ended the phone call.

I didn't ring the number, but I did look up the website - it certainly looks official enough - but then I found this website so I'm very glad I ended the phone call!

I received a call and thought it was too good to be true.  It was only when I said I have to call back that the call was ended from their side.  They gave me a couple of telephone numbers.  The one is a correct number but the other was a scam being 0208 150 2365.

I am now worried that my card details is going to be used by somebody.

FOURVACATION almost did it to me today and tried to get GBP400 from my credit card - I was almost fooled by this lot; well spoken, knew my name and most of my card details already, knew I had 4 kids, and even knew how my name was set out on my card (and it is an unusual setting, as I have the initials of an honour I received from the Queen, after my name.
I was well into the process thinking they were my credit card company, when they told me that my card had been declined. I lost my rag then becuase, as I discovered from my actual credit card company, they were trying to take GBP400 from my card. Fortuantely my CC company had denied the payment becuase the name of the company Banctec seemed dodgy and produced alarm bells. They said I was the fourth customer today to ring and complain about these people.
Now they are just persistently ringing and refusing to leave anything on the answer machine.

My lovely new friend Rachel calls me every day. Several times. So desperate is she that I claim my all-inclusive holiday that she NEVER LEAVES ME ALONE. Grrrrrrrrr. I knew it was a scam immediately, but wanted to find out more information. I knew I would find it here! :D

Caller ID on my 'phone shows <Out of Area> and 1471 tells me they "do not have the caller's number to return the call."

I am in the UK and fed up.

I'm in Canberra (Australia), and I've had three of these calls from "Rachel of the rewards department" about a supposed free holiday in Cancun turn up on my answering machine over the last few weeks.  Apart from the fact that anything coming out of the blue purporting to offer you something like that for free is obviously a scam, it also ignores that Cancun really isn't on the holiday/vacation radar for Australians.  It's also annoying to be receiving these sort of calls when you're on the national Do Not Call register, and, as I understand it, recorded calls of this type are illegal here, anyway.
