We are in Canada and the call is from Vancouver, Washington. The number they called from was: 360.567.6813

We get a call from these people about once a month. The number always comes up as anonymous and I'm unable to trace it back. Every time I tell them we don't have a photocopier they hang up.

We sporadically get these calls at work and they ask for the person in charge of ordering toner.
Today our conversation went like this (I recognized her voice from last time)
Lady Can I speak to the person in charge of ordering toner for your copier?
Me - we don't need any toner at this time
Lady - (rude tone) I'm not calling to sell you toner I'm calling to let you know there has been an increase in price you weren't notified about.
Me - we order from someone else so I don't know what you're talking about

Then she hung up...

Just recieved the third call of this kind this month. T
The other 2 callers were moderately polite and only hung up when I questioned them. The one from this morning was downright rude when I inquired why did she want this information she replied the toner may be outdated. so I offered to transfered her to the office manager but she said "just give me the model number!" and told me to "Shut Up!!" When I informed her she had absolutely no reason to be asking for this information.

I've recieved calls like this for years in different areas and different careers. Recognized it as being a scam, but couldn't understand what they could do with a model # information.

I have had ten calls per day from this scam for the past two days.  Blows up my phone lines for over a half hour.  The number comes up private, so I have to answer.  I have been nice, I have been nasty and my patience has run out.  Does anyone have a way to make them stop???

Hey,

I noticed that most of these comments are from years ago. I've been receiving this exact scammer phone call for the last couple of years still! They are extremely rude to us because we have outright called them scammers. Now when we hang up on them, they call back 5 or 6 times in a row just to spite us I guess. I'd like to report these guys to someone, but not sure who. The comments I've read seem to be saying that this scam is coming out of California. We are in Canada and are not sure how to make it stop. It's starting to seem like slight harassment. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Steve

The FTC says you do not have to pay for or return unordered merchandise. Unordered items are considered a gift.

I keep this lady on the line as long I can just to mess with her. I get call from her weekly as most of the 100 DID lines route through my phone first.

They called with some story about how there was a national increase in the price of our tonor for our copier. I let him go on, but I think he realized that I knew it was a crock so he tried hanging up. I had to laugh because it took him a couple tries to actually disconnect.

We receive these every 4-6 months.  Got one today.  Played along.  "Supervisor" Rick came on line.  Knowing it is a scam (their cartidges sell for $380.00, retail is actually $35.00) I asked him "Isn't this scam getting old"?  He said no.  "This can't be still working"?  He laughed and said "Oh ya, it is".  Before he hung up, I said "F*** You".  Beware!!!

Our business recently got a phone call from a number that we aren't positive is this one, but from what we are reading, it sounds like it's this company and phone number!! The person asked us for the info on our fax machine, model number etc...and when I asked what model number he thinks we SHOULD have, he started cussing at us and calling us every bad name in the book. Retard, a**hole, and f** this and all kinds of nasty words. We hung up and right away he called back and started cussing at us again. It sounded like a young male, like the previous post said. We had finally tied up every line so he couldnt call back, and eventually it stopped. We have received these calls before but never had been harassed like THIS!!

Just received one of these calls. Caller said he was with copier customer service and was checking on model number. When I wouldn't give him the information, he said, "Oh come on, man, just read me the numbers of the copier. How many copiers do you have?" Then I asked which copier he was referring to, and he hung up. Caller was young male, probably early-mid 20s. I wonder what agency prosecutes these companies...

Get these calls EVERY MONTH.  By law, they are required to give business name when asked, but when you ask what company they're calling from, they hang up.  One month, the sales person actually said "Now why the hell did you have to go there, man..." and hung up.  PISSES ME OFF.

Well, get ready, they are at it again...this time they are Indian (as in from India, not Native Americans)!  Unknown number appears on the ID, girl asks me for info, keeps asking as I as here why she is calling, continues to read her script as I tell her I'm busy, she asks if she can call back in 30 minutes when I'm not busy, I told her that I had a tracer and that she would be reported to the BBB if she didn't get off the phone, CLICK!  LOL Love these scammers!

They've also starting asking for the printer model #.  Beware of these calls as well, especially if you work in a hotel. Many printers are now hooked to the internet so your brand owners can send you printouts..so these companies are probably trying to get a hold of any supply info they can from you to send you all kinds of different supplies/junk and who know what else they can do with that info!

I actually was suprised by the fact that they've started to get a little more creative.  They used to just ask "I'm calling from the customer servive center, and need your model #" and when asked what company they're with, they'd hang up.  Now they actually say "I had a note on my desk from my boss that there was a mix up and we need your model #" when asked what company, they make one up.  When I try to tell them they're not our vendor they say "well there was a mix up" and they actually try and KEEP me on the phone so I then have to hang up.  I did have one guy actually make small talk with me, but when I wouldn't give him any info he yelled at me saying "what are you!? you're just a front desk clerk!" Actually, I just happend to answer the phone and I'm the Manager, when I told him this he replied with some other rude comment and hung up.  And what is he...just a scam artist!

Called and asked to speak to the person ordering supplies for our HP printer.  Stated cartridge price went up to $289 vs. $259... I asked the name of company and then told her she could speak to me about it and she hung up.  I called that number back and no ring or no answer.

I have received many of calls from 213-537-1095, 234-567-8900 and also from another number 000-000-0000 which also appears on my caller ID, it's all from the same company!  My dad has researched the number and found out that it is a company called Mutual Consolidated Services. He has a very effective way of getting these calls to stop.

1. He calls their 800 # 877-891-1348 or 800-943-3250.
2. He asks for Chris the compliance officer.
3. He tells Chris "Do not call my number! If you do, this is what will happen, for every one of your calls, I will call 100 times and bother you because you are bothering me!"

This is not illegal to do. It ties up their lines and it's makes him VERY angry! If he says he's going to call 18 division Police department, tell him he's full of it, cause there is no such thing!
And if you want to throw something else in there to make him know you're serious. Tell him Mike said HI!

This is a very effective way to deal with this company because my dad is not receiving anymore calls!

Good Luck and have fun!!!:lol::lol::lol::lol:

We received a call also from a "Traci", unfortuantely our company is not one that has caller ID, but she stated she wanted to update our information and wanted our model number and serial number from the copier, even told me where it would be located, (we had been warned of these scams, ) so I asked her to fax the information she wanted to us to the number she had listed, she hung up.  Not even a minute later, she called back, and when I told her she just called, she hung up again.  Be careful!

Once again these scammers are out in full, they said they were from copier services and wanted to update our copier information. Asking "what make and model"  I asked what company they were from and they hung up.  Be aware that the last time someone asked questions, we received a package of toner and a huge bill.

I get these calls all the time at work.  Sometimes that get so bad and call me really obscene names when I ask what company are they calling from.  I was told when I first started they had previously sent out a case of toner and we were invoiced for $1000.  They will call first to get your model number and hang up.  They will then call at a later time just asking for your address.  Then you will receive it and it is almost impossible to return.  Watch out and please warn any employee who may answer the phones not to give out any information.  I also taped a sticky over the model number saying not to give out information.

Got a call from a lady that said she was sending out the new serivce manuals for the copier and wanted me to give her the model number.  I've had hundreds of these people call me over the years.  Had I thought far enough ahead or a little more quickly, I would have messed with her a little bit.  However, I was busy and simply said, "Not interested" and hung up.

These folks need to get a real job.  But then again, so do I.
