I got a call from this company and it is ludicrous that they do this.

its international routing yes. I have friends in lebanon and india and when they call this number appears. it's cheaper for them to call with this routing number.

"213" is a collection agencies caller ID mask. They also use other numbered prefixes. They hope, the the recipient will be on the phone, and accidently pick up a call waiting line ringing in. Another fake prefix used is "513".

Usually used by scavenger collection agencies on unsuspecting citizens.

My advice, never answer a call, you don't reconize. Take the time, and log all of your friends and family into your phone. Special rings helps too, say one theme song for just family, another for friends, and a third for work or business related callers to you.

Use you phone to its fullest potential....Text messaging is such a waste of time.

I received a call from this number 213-702-9791 on April 14 at 10:03am.  I called back and the number was busy.  I didn't answer because I didn't recognize the number.  It's strange.

A man with a very thick accent (possibly India) called my unlisted/do not call registered cel #. He tried to interest me in a mortgage loan at less than 4%. Wouldn't give his company name or his name, and yelled at me. I yelled back, told him not to call again. During the exchange I said "I do not accept unsolicited calls, mail me something..." I was trying to get rid of him but he replied by telling me my address! Beware all, this guy has people's personal info at his disposal, and may be trying to use it against you. I have googled this # and found your posts about the #. I would advise extreme caution if you receive a call from this number, and don't verify any info he asks you for! Hopefully one of the previous posters contacting the FTC about him will accomplish something to protect everyone.

I got a call from this number on my cell at 8:50am did not answer. It said it was from California. Could this be a spam? i also got a call from 1-800-593-6946 at 1:27pm today it went to my voice mail and all that was on there was music.

I received 4 calls a day from this number, daily since 4/5/07 and all hours of the day and night. I finally talked to that number and it is a foreign female with thick India accent who spoke poor english in which I couldn't understand the company and she was trying to sell me High Speed Internet Service.

I just got two of these calls from 213-702-9791.  Called back and got a busy signal.

Answered the number.  Only music playing.  I hung up.  I'm getting these same calls from a different number as well.

Oh....and I do not know anyone overseas so that is not the answer either.....

Just got the call from these jerks too, and like others here and the "whocalledus" website, I cannot get past he busy signal either trying to call them back....

found the issue I think: got a call from that number, called back, busy, then called my parents in Belgium, turned out, they had just tried calling me. This appears to be some type of "gateway" for some international calls routing.
