We are receiving phone calls about a medical alert device that we do not want or need.  We HAVE NOT requested any information about such and want the calls to CEASE AND DESIST! This is a form of harassment and we want it to STOP!

I have been reporting the same people for well over five years, and the FCC DNC people have not stopped them yet, so your five minutes like CSI does not apply to me.

Well, why don't you try going over to the FTC's website and you can see EXACTLY who's been prosecuted for repeated DNC list violations.  OR, you could just look to the right of your screen.  See the links?  click and read.

SCAM ALERT! These guy just won't quit. They just keep using new numbers. CID: CTY Didn't answer, but a live person did leave a detailed message, same story free medical alert bracelet plus $3000 in grocery coupons. Message identified as Senior Citizens Help Program. Did some research and found the same things at a number of sites.

800notes.com appears be incapable or or unwilling to add a caller type SCAMS for even OTHER for some strange reason, therefore I'm using TELEMARKETER. Get it together 800notes, thanks.

I have recorded, on a spread sheet, all unsolicited calls for 1 year because my little Panasonic would only block 29 calls. Since, I have bought a call blocker. Today was the first time I have received a call from this number . It left a message that seemed to last 30 minutes (kidding) but it was a long one, CTY. It wanted to give me government assistance.

Steps to follow on all calls.

1. You must have a caller ID
2. Never answer any call that has an ID you don't recognize - let them leave a message
3. This is now under your control
4. You determine if you should return a call
5. Do this every time and your frustration will be minimized

Please do not get angry if you feel this is stupid. Only trying to help.

When you answer and there is a delay, you know it is a computer generated call so just hang up.  It is hard to imagine that these people actually make any money doing this.

The guy explained something that should be obvious to any thinking, in touch individual. His providing facts in no way makes him an apologist for the telemarketers. Only a narrow-minded twit could possibly interpret it that way.

Well, I've seen free groceries and medical alert devices on here for this phone number. I've got a new one! This guy has called around 5 times each day for the past three days saying he's with Microsoft Support and that he has identified some problems with our Microsoft program.

Your Welcome! I agree, it is highly frustrating. But I don't answer these calls at all. ID- Pick it up and hang it up asap (and thats usually before it it finishes the first ring) I've done whistles on em, insulted them and now only get 1-4 calls a month.  It can be done, but you have to work hard on it to get it toned down. No law is ever going to stop the criminal element - it never has, never will!

Hope your phone tones down for you!
Merry Christmas and Have a Happy New Year!

Its frustrating at every level.
One of my biggest long time *State Statute* gripes is; Non-compliant telemarketing is just a lousy second class misdemeanor. So, all the abuse, harassment, and threats committed are just like un-enforced traffic tickets to the out-of-state swindler. Last I checked, it was around $300 just to petition change of ?rule of law? that isn?t enforced anyway.
That?s just another reason to increase the penalties to felonies, under RICO. But that?s federal jurisdiction, so how about the violations committed under the State Corporation Commission rules? Florida is the laughing stock of the Planet!
Don?t you just love all those *fictitious entities*? They should just break down, and label them- *illegal shell companies*!

Sorry Herman, it gets frustrating for everyone. I was never an installer, either cable or telco. I work at the architectural level, i.e., designing the way massive amounts of phone calls and internet traffic gets routed between large regions. Like most places in the private sector, the government is also understaffed, especially when it comes to dealing with telemarketers. In response to, "if I am a telemarketer please don't call me again": When you think about it, you'll never find a single telemarketer on here who actually called you. The reason for this is that nobody on this site knows your phone number. The most any of us have in common is that we were all called "by" a specific number on this site. Since each number on this site is most likely generating thousands of calls just to be shown here, and we have no idea what those numbers are, it's literally impossible to tie a visitor to this site back to an actual person. I too report the more egregious calls to the FTC, but of course that does little. You know the saying, a lock only keeps an honest person out. It's a minor annoyance, but still takes enough time that we all vent here about them. :)

Tamianth, thanks for the links you provided in your post.  Honest, I have reported these calls for years but, as you know, it hasn't helped much. I confess, I am annoyed with these pests, but not with you and Mike. You both seem like decent folks. I'm going to sign off now, don't want to keep this going.  May you and Mike and these pesky callers and your families have a very merry Christmas.

Why don't you both do something more useful like report these calls appropriately? BTW, Working in telecommunications does not mean a telemarketer..  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telecommunication

And if your really annoyed, you can get a call blocking device or phone! The T-lock Incoming PRO Call Blocker sells for under 60 bucks on Amazon and can block up to 1500 numbers.

Don't rely on  the Do Not Call lists....get an Ooma VOIP phone and block unwanted calls yourself using their blacklist option...go to Ooma.com and check it out.  I've had mine for almost 3 years and besides the money saved, I love all the features!

I have received several calls from this number over the past several days, which show up as "Cell Phone CA" on my caller ID.  The message sounds like an actual person, but is recorded - states that it is for a "medical alert system" that is "already paid for."  After the 4th or 5th call, I listened to the end of the message hoping to speak to someone to get my name off their list, but when I followed instructions and hit 1 to be connected, it hung up on me.  Filed a do not call registry complaint.

Hey Mike, I think your the telecommunications guy that installed my Road Runner cable.  Aw, come on! Don't get mad at me. I was just kidding. It is probably true that the government has more important things to do than track down telemarketers. You really should make your point without that name calling. ( Oh,by the way, If you are one of these telemarketing callers, please don't call me again.)

Tamianth and Mike in MD are correct. I've worked in the telecommunications industry for over 20 years, and it's amazing that you still have folks like JG and Herman who refuse to acknowledge there's actually some technical and legal complexities behind our modern networks, both voice and data. A "telemarketing sympathizer"? Wow.... These people really do believe everything they see in the movies. I'm not even going to waste my time writing up a full summary of the legal restrictions and technical challenges faced by government entities when trying to stop telemarketers. Why? Because the naysayers here won't believe me and will continue to shriek like an uneducated banshee in the corner of their closest Walmart. Suffice to say, the government is just as frustrated as those receiving the calls. Even when the government does locate telemarketers breaking the law, there's this thing called "due process", which means all the right steps have to be followed and it takes a lot of time to shut down even one bad guy. If the government didn't follow this process, these same nitwits (I'm looking at you JG and Herman) would be crying about abuse of power by the government. Oh wait, they already did that in their posts. You can't have it both ways folks. You can't cry that the government is intruding too much and they complain that they're not doing enough to stop things. It's like having your cake and eating it too. Let me guess... the tabloids provide all the hard hitting news coverage on things like this for you?  #facepalm

Have had numerous calls from this number offering $3,000 worth of free groceries. One message stated that I was eligible for free medical alert device due to a health issue. My concern is how this company learned this info that is protected under HIPPA. The most recent phone call stated "push 5 to opt out of their calls but, when 5 is punched, naturally, nothing happens.

Why don't you go read on the FTC & FCC's websites where its posted up. There's also articles on the right side bar in the news and FCC & FTC.
Sorry they can't solve everything in a hour like CSI on TV..  If thats what you expect, then indeed delusional .. And keep in mind that some of these criminals doing this are in foreign country's! Does the words Red Tape mean anything to you? How about co-operation from those?  Yeah..
Maybe you can cut the red tape and go track em down faster? Good luck..
