Good morning just got to work and had a voice mail message for a former employee who use to have this office the call came from a "213-816-2982". The message left from a man by the name of Adam. He didn't ever bother making up a last name to go with his made up american first name. He sounded like he was of Arabic or some Middle Eastern country. He said the ex-employees full name, first and last and then word for word... "my name is Adam and my number is 213-816-2982, I repeat 213-816-2982 . Please call me back as soon as possile I want to speak with you about the legal case that is filed against under your name and your social security number, and if you don't return the call and I don't hear from your attorney either then unfortunately you will face legal consequences so it's better for you to call me back right now. Goodbye, take care, and God Bless you." After hearing this I immediately called him back only to have male (who sounded just like the voice in the message) answer the phone "Hello?" (not very professional for a "legal office" if you ask me) and when I asked to speak with Adam he said that he said hold on and gave the phone to a women. I think thats odd considering the VM said to call right back. I attempted to tell her that someone left a message for a former employee . She said "no, I didn't call you."  I told her "no you didn't but the man who passed you the phone did.  He had the same exact voice the man had on the voicemail and we are a Federal Government Agency we can track all the calls that come in and out of these lines."  She got really nervous and said "oh you calling from America, my husband called a lot of business for work purposes!" I said "yeah he just called a government agency for a debit collection on a former employee!" She didn't know what to say b-cuz they had just been caught! She just said it was a mistake sorry! This is a total scam people DO NOT PAY!

That is exactly what they say to me when they call me.  I have been getting these calls for months and they use spoof cards to hide there true #.  Sometimes they change the number with a completely different area code.  Definately a scam!!!

I got a phone call from these guys today on my cell phone .... Mark Murphy. VERY Strong accent. He left me a voicemail saying To Call Him Back!!, And God Bless Me if I dont! I was like.... There is NO Way I will have some message on my voicemail from some random guy telling me that. Soooo I call him back and as i'm talking to him i'm googling this phone number! So i play along ... Then he tells me that I have a Legal Law Suit and i was like WHAT! He said ma'am you have not been informed? I was like uhm no! First of all I have never taken a loan from fast cash... let alone any other loan company! Hes like well i can Prove it! I said Okay well so can i JACK*** I HAVE MY BANK STATEMENTS. At that point I was just furious and I called him every name in the book then he said Ma'am this is a recorded phone call. I said "I DO NOT CARE IF IM BEING RECORDED OR VIDEO TAPED OR STARED AT I AM FURIOUS THAT U THINK U CAN GET ME TO FALL INTO SOME BU***HIT SCAM AND YOU THINK IM THAT DUMB!!!!!" He then tells me I dont care if u fall for this or not i am going to forward you to my supervisor please hold. Sooo this god awful music is playing then i speak with Ryan McCarty. He tells me the same run around stuff that Mark Murphy had told me. So I was dropping f bombs and i said YOU Freaking people think that the American People are ALL Retarded, I said I just want you to know Im recording this call to idiot! AND I Took all your information down and Now I am calling the FBI and FTC On Your Dumbasses! and He hung up on me.... So i called back and asked for Pyan McCarty. And I said Why Hello U Just hung up on me Let me tell u what You are an Awesome business man! Then i got off the phone reported these retards to the ftc and fbi because he told me he had my social security number and my Bank Account Information but he did know my Address which kinda freaked me out! Anyway DO NOT RETURN THE CALLS AUTOMATICALLY SUBMIT A COMPLAINT!

So I just starting getting these calls today, and I have no intention of calling back after reading these messages... what are they thinking.  I do have a couple of loans, however I am current in both of them and there is not a legal suit against me at all... his name as of today by the was is Brad Johnson, still threatening legal issues... mentioned if I or my retained attorney did not call them back.

I got a call from these people "0000" saying I that a previous co-worker of mine had debt problems and if I couldn't locate him it was going to come back to me.  I called them back saying I haven't talked to the guy in 4 years and have no idea where he is.  The dude said OK and hung up.  The VERY next day I get a call from the same person with the same message.  I called him back again after reading this thread and after asking a series of set questions he hung up on me.  I called him back immediately cussed him out.  Then I received a blank text message from "Anonymous" (this could be a phone virus so be careful).

Anyway I've called the FTC as you all have stated above and filed a complaint about these people.

I reported them to the FTC. They told me not to answer when they call. They are scam artists, and are trying to get people to pay for a debt they don't really owe.  EVERYONE that is getting calls from these people call the FTC, and REPORT THEM!! The FTC lady I spoke with was extremely nice, and helpful! Everyone do this! I feel so much better!

I got the same call today from "0000' left on my ID caller and the funny speaking man said his name is Mark Murphy....call the number their was no answer.....so I went own my computer and put in the number 213-815-1950 their i found all of you saying the same thing about this caller mark murphy...this got me so upset.....I'am in pain every day....this message cause me to hurt more because, you don't no what this is about....Thank you for your comments.....still having pain but i will try to sleep tonight. and will call the FTC's number 1-877-382-4357   thank you!

This number 213-816-1950 sure is a scam when i talked to a person who said he is a lawyer  i asked what company he was representing and he just kept talking over me asking me my phone number  and i kept saying i will tell as soon as you tell me what company your representing  he got mad and told me not to call there again you hear. 2nd call i got from this number i can't even understand these people but whoever wrote if you threaten them they run scared was right the first time i called i told them i was calling the police and then my lawyer will call them they just hung up on me. We do have to find some way to stop them.  they might find some unexpecting person like an elderly person who runs scared with there threats and send money then who knows what else will happen.   Please anybody who gets these calls DO NOT SEND ANY MONEY!  Do not believe a word they are sayiong they are real live Scammers.

these people have been bothering me since may of this year. the first time i told them i wanted proof in writing verifying the debt they stopped calling me for about 3 months, then using a different number and name always someone with a very heavy middle eastern accent and very american name edward walker or ---- jones (i couldnt make out his first name due to his accent) are calling me again. what should i do to make these calls stop!!!! i have told them not to call my work yet they continue to do so.

I have received 2 calls from 213-814-0216...a man stating his name is Alfred Summers...he speaks with a thick accent.....threatening to arrest me for non payment of a payday loan......then threatened to arrest 2 of my friends as well.....I told him I was calling the police as I knew this was a scam and he began cursing at me......I hung up on him and received 6 calls in a row within 2 minutes thereafter.......do not fall for this scam......they are trying to get your bank and credit card info.......

hi these people are calling me constantly from a number oooo and 213 816 1950. they keep threatin me about not leaving town and that they wish  me good luck they told me this could all go away if i pay them 800 dollars.who are these freaks ] the man who calls says his name is officer mark mccoy

They have been calling me on and off for months at my employer, telling me the police were coming to get me. Each time I say that Im standing by the door, and dont see anyone yet. Today they called, and I said I was recording the call, and going to press charges, and they immediatly hung up. They are a scam, and scared away with threats of real lawsuits.

UPDATE: I tried calling the number again yesterday and the number was active again! So they must be turning it off when someone catches them in the BS... when they answered I asked to speak with Mark Murphy and he immediately got on the phone. He tried giving me the entire story again about how I took out an internet loan yadda yadda yadda so I just cut him off and demanded he tell me my bank information that they supposedly had. He again tried to derail me by threatening me with jail and I told him that what I was asking for was simple information that he should be able to provide if this is not a scam, this is when I also mentioned that I was recording the call so that I could have my attorney hear all the bu***hit that he was feeding me and so that I could file a countersuit for the harrassing phone calls. After hearing that he said hold please and proceeded to put me on hold for 20 mins. I hung up and tried calling the number back and all I got was a recording saying that it was inactive again.
So today I tried calling again and the number was active AGAIN! This time I again asked for Mark Murphy and they asked who was calling, which I refused to give them assuming they would just put me on hold again. I finally got "mark" on the phone and I said "Hey! Mark! It's me again... remember talking to me yesterday about your fraudulant scam and then putting me on hold when I threatened you with lawyers?" He immediately became nervous and denied talking to me the previous day. I again demanded he tell me the information that he had and he just hung up on me. I proceeded to call back 6 times and everytime they would either hang up on me or just yell over me that they were on their way to arrest me....but the last time I called he (not Mark, Officer McCoy) actually let me talk and I again demanded my information and what he replied to me was "What are you going to do for me?" to which I replied that I would give him s**t bc I didn't owe him anything.

If anyone thinks this isnt a scam after reading my experience, you are an idiot. These guys are completely fraudulant in everyway... do not give them ANY info that they don't already have! They are trying to scare you into giving up your CC info and REAL bank info and if you fight them back they will back off and leave you alone.

He finally told me that I never paid an internet loan that I had taken out and that he had my checking account number and 2 references that I had given. When I asked him to give me these he said he could not release the information... this is when I told him to take his "info" and shove it bc this is a scam and I have nothing to worry about bc I have never taken out any internet loans.

These people are NOT a legit legal department.  If they were they would pursue debt collection LEGALLY.  They refuse to give a company name, they refuse to give an address where documents may be mailed to them, they refuse to provide written proof of the supposed debt and they consistently harass and threaten people saying they will have you arrested and placed in jail in another state.  All of the above violates the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. DO NOT believe anything they tell you.

I got a call from this number and he said his name was Mark Murphy and the number is a California number.  There are 111 people named Mark Murphy in this California area code. These people have been calling my cell and work number and threatening that there is a legal suit and if I do not follow their instructions or call them back then all they can do is wish me good luck as the events unfold upon me.  Definitely a scam especially since they keep asking for my sister's name and she has passed away.

I just got a call from Eric Jordan 213-816-1950 and was threatened that he is going to do something to me and now he will show me what he is going to do. This is criminal they should not threaten people and when I called back his "supervisor" told me the same thing. He left me a voice message saying he was a federal officer and a friend of mine was being investigated for fraud and since I wouldnt talk to him he would show me what he could do to me... Really holy crap what is he saying should I file a police report is he saying he is going to harm myself or my family? He had a heavy accent and I honestly feel threatened...

I have been getting calls from these people. A Mike Anderson.  They are telling me it was from a loan off the internet which I did aquire but I was givin no info on how to return payment.  They have threaten to have me arrested and said there are 3 charges against me.  They refuse to send me any info unless I send them my credit card # first. Dont get me wrong i have intentions of re-paying this debt but to the original company or a legitimet one that allows you to get info from them.

UPDATE: I have called this number everyday since I received the voicemail and this "Mark Murphy" is convieniently never available OR has called me back....well today I got a recording saying that the number had been disconnected. Guess they got so irritated with me calling everyday (and at all hours of the day might I add)!

I received a call on my voice mail telling me to call asap because I owe money and he said his name was Mike Anderson or Henderson/thick accent said I need to call him back asap and talk to my attorney because we have a series problem. The number on my caller ID is unknown this is a scam because I have been targeted before by this same person...

The morons just called me for the third time in the past week.  I think I'll ask what address they are at so I can go their and kick their a***s!!!
