So it was a scam and you never got the money? Because they called me with the samething

This just happened to me 02/19/2013 a women called saying that i was randomly chosen for a 8400.00 free grant. I believed them until I talked to alex cooper and he asked for 210.00 dollars to receive my free gov grant. Yes I was gullable enough to give them the check book numbers to deposit the money. I thought it was a real grant. I am a paraplegic and am 50 and going to college. I have applied for a grant for school and could of used the money for college and a place to live. I am homeless at this time it really would of helped. I called my bank but they still might get me. They also wanted me to go through western union to pay them. The latest phone number cooper is useing is 202-470-1406.

Received a call reporting that she had received a call from ALEX COOPER stating she won a Gov. Grant for $5000.00.  All she had to do was send $149.00 via Western Union and provide information on her account so they could deposit the money.  Fortunately she did not give them any information.

I got same call today

Got a call from this number they wanted my bank account number but I told them to send me a check.  They gave me a confirmation and their name and ask that I call them back.  I did call back but they did not ask for any other information except for my name. I was very careful not to give out any information because I did not trust them

I recieved the exact same call today. EXACT.

On 5/5/2010 I get a call from an 888 area code, so I answer. A person speaking poor english says the same, I've been awarded $7000 from the US Govt. due to paying my bills on time, yada, yada. (I'm thinking scam already). He asks me how do I want to receive my money. Says he can send it to my credit cards or to my bank accounts and wants that info. What a stupid nimrod, like I'm going to give him that info. I say "mail me the $7000 to my home address." He gives me confirmation number HM*** and then another number to call 213-985-3301, to have the check mailed to me. No, I did not call the number because this IS A SCAM. They are fishing for credit card numbers or checking account numbers and believe it or not, some folks are gullable enough to give out that info. Again this IS A SCAM. The US govt does not grant people money for paying their bills on time. In fact, I think we are the ones that the US govermnent is screwing. But, thats a different story. People, do not give out personal info or financial data to these people. They will clean out your bank account or steal any money you send to them.

just recieved a call from US Fed Grant Department selected same as above asked for personel info and gave me his name Alex Cooper and this phone #213-985-3301 to call back. looked at caller ID and nothing shows up. sounds like a scam to me.

I received the same phone call...person representing himself as an employee of the United States Federal Grant Department in Washington DC which an extremely heavy foreign accent.  He was calling to offer me a $7000 grant.  He said I was one out of 15,500 people in the United States who was chosen to receive the grant because I pay my taxes, have not filed bankruptcy, and don't have a criminal record.  He gave me a grant approval #, and he told me he would be calling me tomorrow.  I asked for his phone # -- he gave (213) 985-3301 as a call back number, which is a Los Angeles, CA phone #.  He wanted me to give him my account information to which I replied -- if I truly were chosen to receive a grant from the US government, I would have received an official letter in the mail.  He says, "oh, you want to receive the information by mail -- okay".  After a few more questions, he told me that he had to go because the department was closing for the day but that he would call me tomorrow.  Good luck, PAL!!!

got same call here today 4/14 /10  calling from Govt give me $7000 grant and said calling from DC with California area code with thick accents of Hindu. his name was Alex Cooper, I told him he was a fraud and he said what are you going to do call the FBI, ?and yes I did, they said this is happening all over and report it to the goverment...What a world we live in!!!!! any more calls from them?

This number claims to be the U.S. Government Grant Department and tells you that you have been chosen to receive USD 7000.00, but prior to do that, they ask you to go to Western Union or Moneygram to donate USD 99.00. Then, you need to call them back and give them the confirmation number.  You can tell is a fraud, because the ones behind the lines are hindu.
