I recieved a call just like this this morning on my mobile phone   who are these people they  have no right to harass people

Got a call from a woman named Jennifer with a heavy, what sounded like middle eastern accent. She said I am being sued, just like all the rest of the stories listed above and that tomorrow I would be taken to court. This is a scam! First off, you don't say you are calling from a law office, and its clear that in the background, it is some type of call center (or acting like one). I also work in fraud, and these people are trying to do fraudulent activity with anyone that contacts them. Report that number to Attorney Generals Office.

Sam Martin left a message at 5:25pm at my work number on 9/3/10 stating I need to call him back immediately or face serious legal trouble. I don't know this man

Caller calling home and work number, treating that if we don't send money, court is going to pick me up, throw me in jail and get me fired from my job.  Cannot verify any info and wants ssn from me as well.  When I ask questions, he starts yelling and cursing really bad then hangs up.  This has happened mutiple times, contacted an attorney, he advised me to tell them that I was turning them in.  Makes it stop for a while, but picks up again about 3 mo later.

"Gavin Thomas, Investigator" claiming to be collecting a an old payday loan debt, which I've never had.
First a case had all ready been filed against me, then when I asked for the case number, he said he didn't have it because the case was actually being filed in one hour.
He could not tell me what court the case was being filed in.
Then a case was going to be filed at 11:00 a.m. tomorrow morning in my state (although he didn't know what state it was and couldn't pronounce it) and the police were going to be coming to my work to serve me a summons.
When I asked to speak to the attorney that would be filing the paperwork and pursuing the case, they said they "couldn't know all the attorneys they had working for them"
I found the whole call quite amusing, as I'm an attorney and have a pretty good command on what happens when a case is filed. This is a mere annoyance for me, but it's appalling to think that these scammers are actually convincing some people to pay a bogus debt because they of these abusive scare tactics!
I even called the company they claimed to be representing to see if someone had fradulently taken out a payday loan in my name, but they didn't have any information associated with me at all.

This is a scam for sure.  If you could respond to this thread it would be much appreciated.  If they gave you the information to send them money via western union, please thread all the contact information from the western union they gave you...they can be tracked down through that.  Just as a show of good faith on my part, info about them, they are using Level 3 communications LLC out of Los Angeles as a phone carrier.  With your info it is possible to not only have their carrier shut the number down, but have the fbi to investigate(if their contact info via western union is in united states) outside, prob homeland security.  Please type the western union contact info for them,  much thanx if you can.

Contacted after they made illegal contact with client.  Person I spole to was absolutely vitriolic, abusive profane and threatening

Just got this call and tehy called me last summer as well too. LOL. Amusing calls. They called me at 7:30 am EST

I deceided to answer the call, and this ignorant, could barely speak English person claiming to be from the "Law Office".  He said that 3 people were sueing me!  I asked who, they were and to give me names , and address, including his address.  The phone miraculously sounded as though it was breaking up.  He then, hung up on me, and this REALLY made me angry, so I called back and the same person suddenly became Marcus, instead of Joshua Carter.  I asked him for his information, then he proceeded in saying I would be arrested at 11am.  He also said that my family would be arrested.  He ended with saying God could only help me now.  

I Really hope someone catches this JERK!!!!

Received this call from a person who could barely speak english stating that either I or my attorney needed to call him or a serious situation would unfold, didn't even bother calling back this happens every couple of months for the past 2 years, I receive these calls and they say its from some payday loan company, when it first happened I called the supposed Payday Loan company and they advised they had no record of me and it was a scam going on, I would find this amusing with them saying I was going to jail If I don't call them, since I am a Probation Officer and know very well they can do no such thing even if it was a valid debt, however wish they would give it up and stop calling me at work, this has been going on for at least 2 years and already had to sign up for a credit monitoring service just to make sure I don't become a victim of any sort of idenity theft.

SCAM i called this guy and told him he was a scam and he told me to kiss his a**. Please report this number to the California Attorney Generals office. They want you to send them money to a fax quick collect. i am a fraud investigator for a telephone company and we deal with this all the time. DO NOT SEND MONEY!!

Just got a phone call that i had a payday debt from 2 years ago and had all my personnel information. He told my that at 11:00 in the morning they will be filling charges against me and will have me arrested at work. They said it would cost 5,000 to get out of jail. He told me if i sent 1800 then they would dismiss my case. He gave me information on how to send it western union but i only had an hour to do it in.  They have called my work place and told them that i had 5 hours to call them or i would be arrested. They got mad when i didn't send money to them. Said they was going to have me arrested.  Then they said my job is going to be screwed if i didn't send any money.

I got the very same call today and they left me a message yesterday.  I had this happen about six months ago also.  Do you know who I can report this number to?

crazy man with a heavy accent calls threating to put you in jail and haved the police at your house in the morning if you don't send him money......then he starts cursing...

They have gotten contact info from me and have called my references and told them I don't pay my bills how do I stop this? I dont want my friends to go thru this what do I do?

PSB71 - they will not file anyhting (because there is nothing to file) - just harass you at home, cell and work.  They are thieves and scammers who need to be caught and kickied off the planet.  Check out the post by "the saint" under the number 707-633-0002 and by "lamet" under the number 408-692-1047 (both on this site). There is alot of information on this scam under the posts.  Good luck - once they ahve your number they keep calling - I have been dealing with them since February and I have seen posts where people report dealing with is for a few years.

They called me too. Has anyone had them file anything or just keep threatening?

these people have been calling me also and leaving threating messages saying that im going to be arrested tue at work, everytime i speak with someone they give different names but are the same person. i printed records from my bank to make sure nothing was deposited into my account at the time they had given me which was december 9th of 2009. and of course there was nothing there,, thinking of changing my cell phone number because this is ridicoulus if anyone has any suggestions as to what to do please let me know thank you

regarding 213 985 4916 According to www.ussearch.com their phone carrier is Level 3 Communications LLC.  Try and get in touch with the fraud department, if they are out of the country only way to slow them down is to force them to keep switching companies and having them blacklisted from carriers.  I think the same people using this company were using a company called Paetec Communications as a carrier to attempt in their attempted extortion.  If possible, would it be possible to get the phone number for the police department that was used so that I may speak with a detective that helped you, so that I might help aid a potentially ongoing investigation in this company, because it is not a localized company.  According to the FTC on a complaint that I filed with a previous problem very similair to this , and now getting calls from these same people..im sure that its linked to the breach at a payday companies website(according to the FTC), which is prosecutable.  On another site there is a person who claims to have contact information via western union for the parties involved in this.  It s big enough that I think the US government would have grounds for interest in this, considering the legalities of hacking a site and stealing millions of social security numbers.  I ll check back, hope things get better for you. I alos recieved a call form these people.  He said his name was Calvin Thomas - same stories as above - thick middle eastern accent - thretening me with arrest and such on different charges for a loan I had taken and not paid back.  I have no outstanding loans except for my car payment and school loans - both of which are current. I did have two payday loans last year - but they have been paid - and I have letters form each company stating this. I have been getting these calls every couple of months since February. They have come from different numbers - they use different "americanized" names - but always the same crackpot story.   When I informed this man I knew it was a scam he became very irate - called me a "racist b****" and hung up.  I have reported them to www.ic3.gov and my state attorney general.  I have learned that if you ever have applied for or taken out a payday loan they have stolen your information and are using it to try to get money.  These people are thieves and scam artists - they cannot do the things they threaten to do.  If you get a call - report them. You also may want to change your accounts and put a fraud watch on them.  They will probably call again - hopefully they will eventually be stoppped.

I reecived a call today thretening to be arrested regarding a debt that I had no recollection of.  He knew my SS#!  I told him that any legal action must be served via at least certified mail and a phone call does not count.  I am not sure who to report this too.

Just received a phone call stating i owed them money and some nigerian guy cursed at me horrible, using horrible language said nasty things to me over my work phone and cell phone.

This man who called me claimed to be with a lawfirm by the name of Williams Scott & Association out of Los Angeles, CA.  He had a very heavy middle eastern accent.  He thretenend me with saying I had criminal charges against me and that I was going to be served papers and arrested tomorrow.  He said the charges were for a payday loan I got with a certain company.  I denied getting a loan with such company and asked for his name, the name of the firm again, the phone number, and why I have never been notified of this prior to this phone call.  Such as by u.s. mail.  He said his name was Eddy Jones and when I asked to speak to one of the Williams Scott attorneys, he replied you want to talk to my supervisor.  He sounded like he was calling from a debt collection because of the noise and voices in the background.  He then acted like he was transfering me by pushing numbers and the call went know where.  He continued to call my work one phone call after another.  Now claiming to be the supervisor with no name identification.  

I right away got a police officer and the district attorneys office involved.  He told the D.A's Office a different name and when questioned began to become irrate and threatened him as well.  When calling him back from a Police Officer's office he continued to threaten me of saying I was going to be arrested and served papers when the police officer questioned him he began to become irrate and threaten him as well and said he would be arrested too.

This number 213-985-4916 does not belong to a Williams Scott Association.  It belongs to a company by the name of Zero Communications Ink.

Please be aware of phone calls from this number as well as a man with a middle eastern accent claiming to be with a lawfirm of Williams Scott & Association.  A friend of mine got the exact same threatening phone call from the same company from the same middle eastern accent, but gave her a different phone number.  

Please help report this!!
