Funny, when I tell them to stop calling I contunie to get calls from other people there.  Even when I tell them I sent my payment.  This company is now owned by Santander which is based in Spain so they do not have to follow US laws, but they are headquartered in Dallas

Here's the answer to all our prayers.  Telemarketers almost exclusively use "autodialers" to make their calls.  One out of a thousand will have live reps doing the dialing.  When these dialers connect (you answer the phone) they listen for any "tones" generated.  If no "tones" are detected they then transfer the call to one of the reps in a call center.  "IF" the autodialer hears the 3 beeps from dialing a "DISCONNECTED" number, the number that was just dialed is automatically "REMOVED" from their list.  Below is a link that has this "tone" plus the verbal message.  You DO NOT need the verbal message.  Download or copy the "DISCONNECTED" MP3 or WAV file to your desktop.  Create or change the greeting you have when someone calls you and you're not available.  At the VERY BEGINNING of your message place the 3 tones (NOT THE VOICE MESSAGE) then continue with your usual or normal greeting.  The autodialer will hear the tones and BINGO, your number will be removed since they think it's a disconnected number.  DONE.  In a few weeks you will be removed from all the lists.  Of course you may have to explain the tones to the callers you DO want to speak to but that's a small tradeoff.  Pass this info on to anyone you know that gets junk calls or even help post this on these websites.  If you continue getting calls after reading this, it's your "OWN" fault!  END JUNK CALLS.

If you have a smartphone download Google Voice and then call them from the Google Voice number. It will update in their database and at least then you wont have to be bothered with the nonstop calls.

Hey everyone, I found a solution to dealing with all the harassing calls. It is simple and effective. It will do the trick every time. When you get a call, do not hang up or do not just ignore the call. Here is the trick and it annoys them, trust me. If you have a land line phone, just pick up the phone receiver an lay it down. Do not say anything. If you have your TV or radio on, place the receiver near the TV and radio. If you want to annoy them even more, turn up your TV or the radio very loud. And if you are away from the TV or radio just lay the phone receiver down, without saying anything. If you have a cell phone, just hit your answer button and lay the phone down. A friend also tells me, he hit his answer button on his cell phone but just pretends like he has a cold and cough in the phone or he goes in the bathroom and flushes the toilet while holding the phone close to the toilet so the person hears the toilet as it flushes. I have tried these things and it appears that the calls have gone down.

It is Santander. I have been having some financial problems and they have been very helpful. If you take the time to call them when you see you are in trouble instead of going delenquent and ignoring their calls they will be nice and helpful. I have never had a problem with these people, I show respect and I get respect.

I read the Fair Debt Collection laws both Federal and state. SEC 392-302 p 4 'anyone causing the phone to ring repeatedly or continuously or making repeated or continuous phone calls with intent to harass a person at called number'. With that being said, keeping records or taped conversations will improve the percentage of winning a harassment law suit. Santander is a world wide bank and I feel they are NOT in compliance with Federal and state laws that govern debt collections. I am late on my payment and when I wanted to make a $50 payment, they said I couldn't do it over the phone. It worked out better for me cause I didn't have to pay the $10 charge for phone payment or the $15 payment for doing it online. It looks like they are disregarding the Paperless Act as well....ugh.

i agree, i have business with them and if you don't give them the payment amount in full or can't send the full payment they will calll every number they have listed for you.  it's annoying but i know it is their job but they need to understand that things happen to people and you can't always pay in full. especially now.

It is not true that they only call you when you are late on a payment. I just brought my car 3 weeks ago and Santander is the loan company. My first payment is not even due until 8/11/2011 and they have been calling my cell phone and work phone between 11-25 times a day from different numbers, everday since I bruoght the car!!!  I know it is them because I have googled all the numbers and they all have complaints about this company. I do not answer any of the calls, sometimes they leave a message to call them. I call them back on my time. When they first called to verify my information for the loan, I was in a staff meeting for 2 1/2 hours, they had called me 15 times between my job and cell phones during that time period!!! I am not looking forward to having to deal with this people on a daily basis and hopefully I can get out of my loan within a year/

Oh great - I just got a vehicle financed thru them and my first payment is due 8/5 and they are already calling me to make sure I know to make my payment at least 10 days in advance so they get it on time.  I prefer to pay on line instead of leaving it up to snail mail, but its $10.95 extra.  That is ridiculous.  After reading these posts, I guess I need to add that number to my junk mail.

Wow--these people are RELENTLESS.  I just made my first payment on the car loan, the payment has posted and it was paid ON TIME--yet they continue to call from Santander, using different phone numbers.  Seriously, WTF.  I called the number back to verify it was indeed Santander.  Everything bad anyone says about them is absolutely true.  If they don't leave a message, which they never do, I consider it a non-call.

Some woman from this number has called me like clockwork at 10:04 AM every day for the past week. I have repeatedly informed them that the person they are looking for is no longer employed by our company and I do not have a current phone number. Today I informed them that should I receive one more call from them, I would be speaking with the DA in Dallas ( it's a Dallas number) and with the state's AG office to proceed with charges against them. They are calling me on my business Cell phone and my company has it's own collections Dept so I'm well aware of the illegalities of their activities. This is a landline handled through XO communications as their carrier. My company just so happens to use XO as well so I have inside contacts. The next few days could prove to be very interesting if they call again.

Had some issues a few months ago where I fell behind on payments, but got caught back up and am making payments on time again.

That doesn't seem to matter. I get calls almost daily from this idiot woman named "Jan Rowe" saying that it is urgent that she speak with me, but she never leaves an extension. It is ALWAYS this same woman. She sounds old and terribly inept. I return the calls, speak to different representatives, explain the situation, and they all say the same thing - "She shouldn't be calling you. You are all caught up. There is no reason she should be calling you at all." The last rep i spoke to told me that they have an auto-dialing system that assigns numbers to reps randomly, and thought for a second that that may have been the issue, but when he checked the system, he said I was not in the auto-dialer queue and that this moron woman had been dialing me manually.

All of that said, the reps apologize, but that stupid woman KEEPS CALLING. She is too stupid to operate a computer and phone in conjunction. They claim to have emailed supervisors about it, have put notes on my account for this particular woman to stop calling, all to no avail. I am at my wit's end and am tired of being harassed by these calls when I am completely in the good on my payments!!
