Calls at least twice a day, we never answer as it's obviously a spam call.  Never leaves message but stays on line long enough to leave a 1-2 VM each time requiring us to call Verizon messaging to delete VMs.  Yes, we're on all DNC lists.

Skip tracers calling to get information for collection.  This has been verified by me today. They use Facebook to get names of people that are affiliated with the person in collection.  They used it to call me about my sister and the only affilitation we have is facebook.

I answer my boss's phone and this number just called.  The lady on the other end told me that she was following up to provide my boss with information for a product that he inquired about.  She said she did not realize this was a business phone number.  I told her he does not provide his home number and was there something I could help her with.  Again she said she was following up to provide information for a product.  I offered to take down whatever information she wished to provide but of course she declined.

The Glory of having "call block" on my phone.... YEA!!!! They will just get my voice mail from now on.  JUST REMEMBER EVERYONE, .... DEBT IS NOT JAILABLE OFFENSE.   They CAN NOT Jail you for this.  They will try to scare you, threaten with paycheck drafts, law suit, etc.    Well, to draft your check, they would have to have a judgment and order to do that!  That cost them to much.  So they normally won't do that.  They can file a law suit, but will they?  Probably not.  Cause if they do, and they do eventually prevail, it is JUST a Judgment and they have to pay further to have a "Writ of Execution" served and come to your home and want to take things to add up to the amount of the judgment.  This is rare!   So call their bluff!!!!!  If it is a old bill, send them to a dial tone!!!  You do not have to pay, acknowledge an old bill.  If you VERIFY you owe that, you can reinstate the already past 7 yrs to your credit report and the time starts all over.

this number called me and it was a fast speaking guy.  He went into the spill after I said I was the person that he asked if I was.  He wouldn't shut the hell up.  When I said wait just tell me who this is.  He went into the long spill with all the "This is an attempt to collect a debt, any information received and can and will be used for that purpose."  I hung up.

I called back and got a lady.  She verified that she had me by my name and then wanted me to verify my address, date of birth, social security number.  I said just tell me what you want. and what the alleged bill is.  She said "this call may be recorded or monitored"  I said, I do not give my permission to have it recorded or monitored.  She said, "GOODBYE!!!!"  How rude!!!!!  They want to talk over you!  So I have no idea what this is regarding what "OLD BILL " ....cause I haven't had credit cards in years - 10+ yrs.  So if it is for one of those, it is past the statutory to collect.  I told her tell me who it is (before she hung up) so I can send you a cease and desist letter.  They hate to hear that!!! Cause it fires them in their tracks and they can never contact you again.

Got a call from these clowns today.  They left no message, they are most likely minor basement bill-boys who buy up very old, expired "Junk debt" and try to scam anyone on the other end of the line to pay up. Since the accounts are so old, they often don't know who is using the numbers now, but they don't care.  Best option, just let em' ring and/or block the number if they don't give up.

Here is a good way to deal with these Hitler Youth rejects and their disreputable tactics; First, never mind the number on your caller ID, it’s virtually always a fake and strictly one-way.  But the call-back number on the voice-mail has to be real, otherwise they could never scam a dime out of anyone.  Also, if you know for sure which collection company it is, visit their website and if the e-mail address under “Contact Us” doesn’t readily suggest a debt collector use that too.  Write a realistic-sounding too-good-to-pass-up add for anything appealing to as wide a range of people as possible using their contact info. - then post it on Craig’s List! The ruinous overload of calls and E-Mails will soon cause their networks to crash and with these vermin, down-time is money down the drain.  The vast majority of collectiods took the short bus to school and are therefore notoriously slow learners, but this method will likely get the point across.

Call comes in on my work number.  I answer "This is <First Name>", which is usually enough to scare off those who have called me by mistake.

Person on other end of the call then says, in a fairly thick accent (non-American), "Hello, I am calling about an important business matter we have in our office.  Can you please verify your address?"

"This is my work number.  I would not have attached any personal business to this number.  You must have reached the wrong person."

"Is there a better number I can reach you at?"

"Before I do that, can you please verify the name you are trying to reach?"

"I am trying to reach *mumble<my first name>mumble*."

"Okay.  Can you give me a last name?"

"I am trying to reach *mumble<my first name>mumble*."

"Yes.  You are giving me back the name I gave you at the beginning of the call.  I want some sort of proof  that if is actually me that you are trying to reach.  Like a last name, an address, or *anything* other than what I have given you already!"

"I DID!  I AM TRYING TO REACH *MUMBLE<MY FIRST NAME>MUMBLE*!"   (Note:  Though the accent was fairly thick, I was able to make out every other word besides the requested name, leading me to believe that the muddling was intentional.)

*gives up trying to get useful information out of the other person*  "I am sorry, there is nobody by that name here."  *hangs up*

This seemed to me to be a fairly classic attempt at social engineering.  Cold call somebody, put on an authoritative face, and try to turn each small piece of information gathered into more information.  There was no indication to me that this call was even potentially legitimate in any way.

Calls keep coming from this number, but they never leave a message if you call the number back you just get a busy signal.  I figure it is just a third party collection agency trying to collect on some old accounts that they purchased in an attempt harass you into paying a balance that isn't due.
