Do you have a contact phone # for this Benjamin Goldberg?  I am an investigator for the State of Texas and I am investigating something similar to your post.

Many municipal and county law enforcement agencies in Texas perform a warrant round up once or twice a year.  Typically they will notify people about the warrant round up ahead of time with a "amnesty" offer.  Some will waive the extra warrant fee, some will offer time payment arrangements in lieu of being arrested and placed in jail.  These are primarily for Class C misdemeanor warrants such as: 1) Traffic tickets, 2) public intoxication, 3) issuance of a bad check (IBC) under $50.00, etc.  I was a Texas peace officer for 25 years and I was the marshal for a municipal court for 12 years and we did this frequently.  If you have received a citation in the past that maybe you did not appear on or did not complete the payment, you might have an outstanding warrant for your arrest.  Contact the local municipal court or one of the justice of the peace courts in the county (there may be several JP courts) to see if you have an outstanding warrant.  And, you can check the DPS site, http://www.texasfailuretoappear.com/search.php.  This may help you out.

I got a message from Benjamin Goldberg stating that I was a "person of interest". I called the number back, and he told me that I was facing felony charges for an internet payday loan from 2008. He was very nice up until I started asking questions. When I asked for information on the specific loan, he began rushing me off the phone, encouraging me to call someone who can allow me to put the $600 payment on their credit card. He's very convincing, so thank you to everyone who posted their experiences here. He also told me I would be extradited back to the county that I Iived in, when I did the internet payday loan, and held for 120 days without  bail. I started doing some research because it all sounded fishy. The first clue was that the number he called from comes up as a cell phone; meaning he's not calling from an office or firm. Then I read these posts. I blocked his number hopefully this does not continue to happen. I will be reporting this as advised in previous posts. I also reported his information to my real life attorney so she can do some research into stopping him.

Had a voice mail from this Benjamin clown.  I called to see what he wanted, he told me I was involved and being investigated for a theft.  Knew I had rented a computer years ago and never finished paying for it and the amount I owed was a felony and I was going to be extridicted from where I am to Florida where I rented the laptop and would have to spend 240 days in jail, plus fines plus pay the balance I owed. And I had to get the money to...HIM within 30 min or the warrant would be issued.  He told me they would come to my  job to arrest me, even knew where I worked.  I told him I had to make a call to see about getting the cash and would call right back..I called my sis and we did some quick research and discovered this creep is a scammer.  Something needs to be done,,he needs to put in jail.  Makes me shudder to wonder how many poor fools have fallen for his smooth yet stupid tactics.  I almost did, but happy to say I am smarter than the average bear and got my sis on the phone to help me find out what was up.  She even called him and got all nasty with her wanting to know how she got the number and who she was and blah blah. So she hung up. He kept calling me after that but I ignored the calls..what a  jerk!

He wanted me to confirm my S/S number and when I would not do it he told him he was getting me locked up and called me an idiot b*****d.

thanks for listing all the info everyone! Got the same voicemail from "Benjamin" who is an "investigator" at an "attorney's office". Thought it was suspicious because there was no pretext for the call. Called him back and left a voicemail, and got a return call today. This individual was not well prepared for the call HOWEVER he did know my name and phone number. How he got that information is my question. I got suspicious once he mentioned that he makes over 1000 calls per day. What investigator sits and makes calls all day I'd like to know. He said he'd call me back later.

Thank goodness this website exists. Otherwise I'm afraid that I may have thought this individual to be the real thing.

I was contacted by Benjamin Goldberg and he said I was wanted for check fraud from back in 2008. He said a judge signed a warrant for my arrest. When I said I would make payments, within 30 seconds on hold, the warrant was stopped, imagine that.

So did you ever pay the money? Did they have you arrested? They called me last month with the same mess. I did make two payments but don't think that I should pay anything else.

We got a vm from a Benjamin Golberg asking about a person we do not know, Mozelle Carter, & saying my husband is "a person of interest in an ongoing investigation."  I returned the call to ask him to take our number off his calling list becasue we do not know Mozelle Carter.  He became insulting & put me on hold when I informed him I would report him for calling us "cracker head crackers."

Today I received a call from a person claiming to be a detective for this fictional attorney firm "Benjamin Goldberg"  claimed he was calling on behalf of "Goldstein Oshea Devine" who were about to send paperwork to my county to start a warrant for my husband's arrest if we didn't wire money to his accounts payable immediately. I was taken totally by surprise he scared me into an anxiety attack! But my suspicions on the validity of his claims proved right. After agreeing to a wire transfer 2 days from now I contacted a lawyer and was told not to give them any money. Besides obviously lying about doing jail time its illegal to use these sorts of scare tactics to try to collect a debt. When i told him this is extortion he acted as if he were speaking to someone named Cindy and told her to go ahead and get the warrant for his arrest. There's a special place reserved in hell for these kind of people! Our lawyer will be in touch Ben you piece of garbage lying sack of turds!call originated from Texas same bogus firm

No one gets a heads up they'll be served or arrested.  Debt is civil, not criminal, so even if you do owe a debt somewhere, you are NOT going to be arrested.  Please do report your callers to the FTC, FBI, Dept of Justice and your state's Attorney General.  And please do call your local law enforcement and file a report with them also.  BTW, even if a state was doing a "warrant round up", they wouldn't be calling people to alert them that they're going to be arrested.

Got a call from this number stating I would be arrested at my job.  Said they are with William Blair and Associate Law Firm in Dallas.  When I call the number it goes to voice mail for a Chief John O'Brien.  I am sure this is another scare tactic to get me to pay for something I do not owe.  They are calling every number I am associated with and telling them this.  Said that Texas is doing a Warrant Round up and my name is on it.
