ADT is not connected with this.  This is a reseller for Guardian Protection, a GE company.

We signed up for the electricity company yesterday and the lady at Reliant said that some ADT person would contact me. The security system reseller (of ADT) called me within 30 minutes of hanging up with Reliant. The reseller asked me if our new home had a security system and how I could get some wonderful discounts. I gave her some information but grew suspicious very fast and mid way through the conversation, I  as almost yelling at her and practically hung up on her. The message on the door appeared soon after. Maybe these security companies get our name from the utilities through some arrangement and hand our information (name, address, whether there is a security system in the house or not etc) to even shadier folks if/when we refuse their offers.

Anyone else see a correlation between having their utilities turned on and this note appearing on the door?

And another thing, these guys are permitted by your city/township to do this job.  They have to get permits.  They have to be fingerprinted, background check, all that.  So all the crap everyone has been saying about trespassing and scouting for houses to rob...you are getting worked up over something that is perfectly legal and specifically permitted.  Chew on that, homeowners.

Police have been called on these drivers a number of times and are simply asked to leave the area for the day.  No fines, no arrests, nothing.  If identities were being stolen and houses robbed, don't you think they'd be getting into trouble?  It's very simple you see, if you don't trust that it is simply a business and don't want to call to say you are uninterested is any sort of contact, leave the tag on your door with a note saying as much.  The drivers will report it and you will be excluded.  Easy.  Or you could be dumb s**ts and start cleaning your guns while waiting for the scary shadows to come hang another two tags on your door.  Just remember, castle doctrine doesn't allow you to shoot someone just for walking up to your door; the company and families of the drivers would be happy to sue those of you who aren't just being keyboard warriors and really are dumb enough to shoot.  They wouldn't have to rob your house then, because they would own it.

"Freedom to own guns" indeed.  Why, I have my 9mm S&W right here with me and I used to take it with me when I hung these cards (I no longer drive, so no it wasn't me) because of the way you imbeciles think.  I'd rather shoot you on your own property and go to prison than let you shoot me for something so insignificant as this.  The difference is, my use of the weapon would be truly justifiable as it would save my life.  I don't know if you know this, but it's not enough that they are walking up to your house.  You must prove that you had good reason to fear for your life.  I would hope that you or anyone itching to shoot a stranger are prepared to do just that...without lying your a***s off.

I certainly speak English better than you do.  I'll forgive YOUR s****y grammar and bigotry/political prejudices because YOU'RE from Texas.  And to the other non-spelling broad (Suz I believe it was), eat me.  If it bothers me that d***hits who think they can use a gun in any situation other than a life-threatening one are going to ruin gun ownership in this country makes me self-righteous (which is really rich coming from someone who is likely the worst sort of Christian) then I will just continue to be so UPtight that you won't be able to pull a pin out of my a** with a tractor.  F****ng hillbillies.

Please contact the Little Elm Police department with any information you can provide (person/vehicle description). They are actively seeking this/these individual(s) as they have successfully scammed several citizens in several cities.

Was sitting in my home office and saw a gray sedan (Honda Accord maybe?) pull up; African-American bald man got out, walked up to my front door and stuck the postcard on the door that says "sorry we missed you".  Didn't ring the doorbell.  My office window is less than 3 feet from my front door.  If he had looked up while he was walking, we would have made eye contact!  Our name was actually listed on the card.  Sounds like a scam to me.

My house has solar screens on the windows and I saw an African-American park in front of my house, left his car running, no package in hand, and left the "Sorry We Missed You! by Compass" card taped to my door.  He did not ring door bell and the name listed on the card was not anyone in this household.

You are so FUNNY!  I wish I could be cool like you and just point my gun at whomever.  Way to be a rational human being and not some hot-head Texan with a hard on for being a cowboy.

Got a card on the door, and was suspicious, because I wasn't expecting anything.  Did call, but blocked my phone number first, and the woman that answered didn't even know who she was answering the phone number for!  I hung up, and started researching the number, and can't find the name of the company, but found this website, and confirmed what I thought, not a delivery, but a scam.  I also just moved in to this house 3 weeks ago.  The card said "Sorry we missed you", but doesn't really say they have a package!  Glad I blocked my number.  This card said "delivered by Compass".

They left a door hanger on my door.  They are looking to see if you have a Home Alarm installed in your home and for personal information such as email address.  You can reach them by calling 214-226-9041 don't give them your confirmation ID.  Someone will answer.  They will get straight to the point.  The person that will answer the phone is Magan or something close to that name.  She will be very nice until you don't give them what they want.  Make sure you tell them you have an active Home Alarm system and they might leave you alone.  Good luck.

I got a door hanger on my front door this morning.  Funny thing is, we were home all morning before then with 3 people in the house.  They did not ring the front door bell.  I will be blocking and ignoring any calls from these folks, after seeing all the comments about them on the internet.  Doesn't seem like folk I'd be interested in meeting.
